If you only want to hunt 8g you can get 4 dmp’s 2 in the first draw and 2 in the 2nd draw I have never been turn down for a dmp in 8g. That’s why it’s never my 1st choice or I wait till the 2nd draw to get one.

You’re not limited 8c you can kill as many as you want you can keep getting doe tags. 8g where I live I can kill up to 8 does. That’s 2 on bow ml tags and up to 6 on dmp’s between the 4 you can get and 2 that can be consigned over to you. Then there may be dmap tags on the land if you lucky to have a place to hunt. So how many deer can you kill in 1 season.

Look first of all in the WMU’s where the doe only was put in place it wasn’t because hunters are unwilling to kill does. Those WMU’s most of the land is in privet hands. So if you can’t get access to the deer you can’t kill them. No matter what incentives or rules put in place you are not going to kill more does. It’s as simple as this if we can’t get to them we can’t kill them.

Most fun I had hunting snowshoes without a dog was at Happy Valley WMA. Four of us got 10 rabbits and 3 grouse. what made it fun was white rabbits and no snow.

This is a shorten version of the input letter I sent to the DEC. 1: mandatory reporting on all tags weather it’s used or unused for three years. With the penalty for not reporting a tag being lost of that privilege for the next year and you don’t find out till after you paid for that tag. This plan would do 2 things. It would validate the DEC modeling plan for the deer harvest and double the reporting rate. 2: no antler restrictions without a vote of hunters at the time of licenses purchase and a hunter can put his vote to the WMU he hunts in it doesn’t have to go in the WMU he lives. 3: keep the 2 buck limit but you have to turn in your first tag to get the second tag and that tag has up to a 4pt on one side minimum 4: even though I don’t use one make the use of cross – bows legal though the whole bow season. 5: extend the late bow season in the southern zone to the first Wednesday after New Years This is not in order of preference.

It’s not us passing on doe’s, it’s not being able to get to them. Most of the land is in privet hands. I’m lucky I have a couple of places I can hunt in 8g. it all comes down to access to the deer.

OVER ANALYZING, you are not bench rest shooting. The kill zone on a deer is about 9 inches. Unless you are shooting way pass normal ranges if you miss you have other issues than the gun being cold.

You should read up on CWD and how it’s spread and its course’s. in theory its possible if a deer had CWD it could be spread by urine based scents.
