    Hello

    Welcome to Hunting NY .........
  4. Real men don't read directions . 5 or 6 years ago I did something rather stupid . In my brilliance , I put some toe warmers on my socks and put another pair of socks on . In the afternoon , my feet bothered me . When I got home and changed clothes and had all my socks off , my feet still hurt . Checked things out and I had burned the pads of my feet . I checked the Toe Warmer package and it states in the WARNING " Do not use between layers of socks" . Well , Duh !
  5. I passed on going out today . I have a mild cold and runny nose from sitting out in the windy cold . I will have to wait until after Christmas . No sense in being sick for Christmas .
  6. I spent another afternoon in the cold . Sat in my blind in Honeoye Falls for 3 hours and saw zilch . Heard a shot around 4:45 in the wooded area just south of my son'd property . The guy behind him doesn't have a wide lot but it's deep . The guy has an elevated structure that is about 15 yards off my son's property line . The deer have to pass through his property to get to my son's land . I have had good luck there until the guy put up his structure . I might give Walworth a try tomorrow afternoon .
  7. We have plans for 2022 . Hilton Head , Orlando and Ft Meyers .
  8. I have been using these for years . BJ's Wholesale had the Hot Hands hand warmers (54count) or the Toe Warmers (36 count) on sale for $15.99 ....Dec 21 - Jan 20 . A real bargain . Makes a nice gift .
  9. LOL has been given a Time Out so he won't be on here for a few days . No real need to add to this thread .
  10. I have been reloading for 2 of my sons plus myself and a grandson . Several components and powder are difficult to find . I will have to check a few places when we head south for a few weeks in the spring .
  11. I looked and see the [post in Guns and Rifles discussions . Did you forget which forum you posted it in ?
  12. Sat in my hub blind at my son's property in Honeoye Falls from 9am - 1:30 pm . Never saw a thing . Bummer !
  13. DUDE - I got the Vax plus the Booster shot . Have you noticed how many people wearing masks have the mask below their nose just covering their mouth . That really helps !
  14. If stores , etc don't enforce the mandate , they can get fined . They are only trying to protect their business . I don't agree with the mask mandate but will comply unless I forget . I shopped at Aldi in Webster and after making a purchase and walking out I realized I didn't have my mask on . Nothing was ever said .
  15. Same article is in the DEC news . Rather vague .
  16. Another letdown . Sat in the blind in Honeoye Falls for a little over 3 hours and saw nothing . I dressed light as the sun made it quite warm . Around 4 pm , it got cold quick . Not sure when I will go out again .
  17. Have a friend at the range load your rifle / shotgun without you seeing him do it . At some point he will not put a round in the chamber and you would find out just how bad your flinching is ...... I took a friend's kid to the range and he was scattering his shots . A guy came along and said that some guns don't like certain slugs . I said , let me try it and fired . Jeff said "holy crap" and I asked what the problem was and he said my shot was in the bulls eye which surprised me . I suggested he sit on his back deck with an expended shell in his shotgun and practice some snap shooting . Apparently that worked for him .
  18. I had a problem flinching and finally got away from it . I caught myself doing this at the range when my 12 gauge shotgun wasn't loaded and I reacted like it was recoil . Several years ago I was hunting with my SIL . It was 20 degrees out by the wind chill index and I was freezing . I got out of the tree stand and took a few steps into the Laneway . 3 doe came into the laneway from the adjacent field . They were at least 90 yards away . I put the bead on the largest one and shot . They ran into my SILs field and the doe dropped . I thought about what I did right and realized that I was RELAXED because I wasn't sure if I could even hit the deer at that instance . After that I would sub-consciously tell myself to relax before pulling the trigger . That worked for me . It's all in the mind .
  19. That's where the "Rescue One Controlled Descent System" could be a lifesaver if you had the bottom of a Climber drop away . I hope the New York Outdoor News has a story on this accident in a future edition .
  20. A friend sent this to me ......... Town of Lysander Onondaga County Wilderness Rescue: On Dec. 10 at 1:35 p.m., Forest Ranger Chappell was patrolling the Three Rivers Wildlife Management Area when he heard a radio call from Onondaga County for a hunter from Baldwinsville suspended in a tree after his tree stand fell out from underneath him. Within five minutes, Ranger Chappell had located the hunter, who was having a hard time breathing due to the pressure of the harness. With the help of Baldwinsville Police and Fire, the Ranger freed the hunter from the harness. Greater Baldwinsville Community Ambulance took the hunter to a hospital where he was examined and released.
  21. Livingston County is not going to honor the Mask Mandate that started today .
  22. I cleaned my NEF Huntsman 50 cal and then reloaded it . Going to give it a try in Honeoye Falls tomorrow afternoon for a few hours . I had a double doe kill there a couple years ago . Hopefully the deer will cooperate .
