    New Bows

I was planning on up-grading bows this year, but just got too dam busy doing lot's of other things around the house. so look's like another year with the same set up. Been checking out the new line of Bowtec bows.
  4. Only thing I have heard is that if your using a whisker biscuit rest, quick spin vanes will mangle up the bristles., but if using a drop down rest, doesn't matter what vanes you use.
  5. Stopped in at Dick's sporting goods the other day, was told that their computers were down?
  6. never could get fixed heads to fly worth a darn. Been a mechanical head user for many years now. Started out with the Rocket Hammerheads, now sticking with the Rage 2 blade.
  7. Very tuff to do. I get bagged every time up in a tree. Even being very still, they have that un-canny ability to spot you!!!
  8. Use to use the EZ brand folding steps by Cranford, I think? very impressive tapered thread that screws in very easy, but after a few years of use, noticed that the pressed pin holding the screw was beginning to bend!!! Accident waiting to happen!!! Got rid of all of that kind and went to a 1 piece instead. Note, there are different brands of 1 piece steps out there. Some have a screw the size of your finger, that makes it almost impossible to start in a tree unless you drill first!! So be sure to get the ones that have a tapered screw. Each stand has it's merits. Love climbers, but they are somewhat heavy and clumsy to carry along with all your other stuff. A portable stand that is set up days or weeks in advance makes for a stealthy and quiet sneak to and from your tree!! To each his own I guess?
  9. Wow!!! What's up with all this dam rain lately!!!! Hate the rain during turkey season!!!
  10. Nice!!!!! trophy bird for sure!!!
  11. Way to go!!! Nice rope for sure!!!
  12. I want to get a new "gas" grill someday, and after reading this post, most likely will get a Weber. I already have their charcoal model with the ash container now, love that model!!
  13. Being a huge spring turkey hunting nut, May is obviously for the month of May, and Tom is for the majestic bird himself....hence maytom.
  14. Another Feather -Flex decoy user here as well!!
  15. Say hello to gator for me Danno!!! keep us posted
  16. Wow!!! I agree, very impressive with #4 shot!!!! If I do switch, that's what I want to shoot!!!
  17. Years ago, I was trying to kill him in full strut. Big mistake on my part, ended up shooting off his beard in the process!!! I agree with the others, either wait for him to pop out of strut or make him.
  18. I use to shoot a recurve bow many years ago. My main thoughts on this style of bowhunting is that while being fun, the bow length is an issue up in a treestand. Not as maneuverable as a short compound bow. Also, you have to practice much more with this style of bow just to stay proficient. I switched to a heavier draw weight (45 to a 65) and ended up hurting my shoulder. Took some time off and went back to a compound bow.
  19. Whoa, Kick's states right on their web site NOT to use Hevi-Shot through their choke tubes!!! You may very well be ruining yours big time................just a heads up.
  20. After buying the Bill's for $25,000.00 back in 1959, and today the team is worth $870,000,000.00, I'd have to say he made his money and then some.
  21. My issue is like most, gas mileage. I drive a full size Silverado that only gets 17 mpg. Come next year, going back to a mid-sized truck. While a car would be nice for gas mileage, it's what you can't put into them that makes them a no go for me. SUV's the same thing, not going to load up the back with gas cans, mulch, lawn mower, etc. and trash the inside. Nothing beats a pick-up truck for a do all vehicle. "IF" you can swing it, maybe keep the truck and lease a car? best of both worlds?
  22. another plug for S&S. That's where I bought my last bow as well, very helpful guys. I love their indoor range and always stop in the taxidermy shop to see the latest mounts.
