  1. Haven't been out doing any scouting as yet, still very cold out and wintery too. Maybe when the temps stay in the 50's for a spell I can get more serious on the scouting.
  2. Great pic's!!!! The color and detail is amazing!!
  3. Ditto that!! Back in 2003, me and 3 buddies went to Texas for a Rio Hunt. We all got some nice birds. One friend knew a taxidermist who told him to buy some women's panty hose, cut those from the crotch up hence having 2 pieces. Like mentioned in the above post, start by pulling those panty hose over the head towards the tail. That tight fit will keep all the feathers in place and then place it into a freezer. depending on how long your flight or drive is, that bird will be frozen solid and will keep till you take it in to your taxidermist!!!
  4. I got one in the mail as well. Years ago, I got a custom Nascar plate, it ended up costing me an extra $100.00 per year for that plate over the stock version. Think I'll pass as well.
  5. That's a big piggy for sure!!!
  6. Happy Birthday to the little Leprechaun!!!! Hope ya have a good one!!!
  7. Winchester 1300, backbored and ported barrel, Rhino .660 choke, Nitro tri-plex heavishot 4x5x7 load
  8. Wow!!!! Now that must of been a awesome sight to see!!!
  9. Total, less than a foot, but with the drifting wind blown snow, almost 18" in some places.
  10. Here is a pic of my turkey gun. It's a Winchester 1300 NWTF Edition, scoped with a Leupold 1x4. I had some barrel work done: forcing cone lengthened, and pro-ported. Rhino .660 choke and shooting Nitro Tri-Plex Heavishot shells 4x5x7.
  11. I like the idea of a vest over a back pak, mainly for all the extra storage space, they come with a lot more individual pockets. Guess I'm just use to wearing one after all these years.
  12. Here is my mount of my Rio I took a few years ago. The guy in the photo is the taxidermist who did the work for me.
  13. Good tip!! Thanks...................
  14. wow!!! I know exactly where that place is, stopped in a couple of years ago. sad
  15. I drive a 2009 Sliverado with the 5.3L, did some work to it for more get up and go. headers, exhaust. intake, and a programmer. been getting 17 mpg's up-hill, down-hill, up-wind and down-wind. The new Tundra's with the 5.7 and the Dodges with the new Hemi all get 13-14 in the city, and maybe 18 hwy!!! Holding out till next year and will be checking out the new Chevy Colorado of GMC Canyon. Like the fact that they will have a 3.6L V6 that puts out 300+ HP along with a 6 speed trany and for 2016 a new 2.8L Turbo Diesel!!! With living in here in NY, you need a 4x4, but this time around going with better MPG's since I don't really haul or pull heavy loads. The cost factor with the midsize trucks is about $10,000.00 cheaper than a full size. prices are nuts for new trucks!!
  16. I never tried a Lone wolf stand, so I can't comment either good or bad on that brand. But I do own a Summit Goliath climber. Love it a lot. very easy to use and very comfortable while up in a tree. I have an older version, the newer ones come with their "dead silence" insulation inside the tubing to cut down on the noise factor. Look's like these newer models might just be better than the older ones!!
  17. Seriously thinking of getting a Bowtech this time around. Been a Mathews fan for over 15 years now, but feel that other companies have come up to speed technology wise.
  18. Sad fact is, we just sold our place. Ended up being issues in the family that led to the sale of the place. Tip: be careful on who you end up going in on a place with.
  19. Use to own a Bear Kodiak Hunter 50lbs@28" draw. My brother had the very same bow but in 45lbs. Like a fool, have long since sold both of them!!! Recurve bows need constant practice to stay proficient. Started out with a glove, and then switched to a tab. Much more accurate and clean releases. Then bought a Martin Howatt Hunter @60lbs,. big mistake, ended up hurting my shoulder trying to draw that weight back. Sold that one as well and went back to a compound. Using the 45lb Kodiak, I got quite accurate shooting the instinctive method. Everyone should try one out.....but don't over bow yourself!!!
  20. Another vote for the kwikee-kwiver. Ever since they came out with their mechanical model with the "double attachment" for the arrows, I was hooked. They sell accessories so that you can slip it off your bow and attach it to a tree.
  21. I have 2 Screaming Eagle stands myself. (They have seen some years now) One thing about those stands is the chains, I picked up some black "rubber-dip" and completely did the chains up with it. really cuts down on the noise factor when setting up. Years a go, it was first owned by a guy called Paul Brunner(?), guess he ended up selling his business due to his wife's poor health at that time. A guy who was building those stands must of bought the rights from Paul and was selling them for a couple of years before finally going out of business? I always liked their ad showing a actual Voltswagon being suspended from that stand with a come-a-long!!! Now that stand can hold some weight!!! LOL
  22. I still get the shakes after taking a nice one too!! LOL
  23. Hey Danno, that's the very gun that's atop my turkey gun for the last 17 years now. Love that scope with it's Extra heavy reticle!!! Tip: leave it on 2x or 2.5x, if on 1x you will see the end of your barrel in the scope!!!
  24. The Fall season always coincides with the bow season, and I'm mentally into deer at that time. Now if they allowed us to hunt the fall season starting on October 1st like in the northern half of the state, I would gladly take it up.
