  1. Father and my Uncles. Been in the woods with them since I was 8. Mostly deer and rabbits/hare, but also the incidental other small game. He taught me about gun hunting and fishing. The bow hunting was a self learning endeavor and was very frustrating to be honest. I quit for 3 years one time and a buddy dragged me back in. I had a few more years on me and a lot more patience and it stuck that time.
  2. What he doesn't tell you is it is across his basement and it is like an obstacle course down there at that distance. Make sure the limbs will clear the joists, post on the right, over the weight bench , don't hit the lights, and his work benches in the background. It's a damned great feat just gettign an arrow to the target to say nothing about a group like that...lol Seriously though Brian, Darn good shooting.
  3. "Yes occifer, I historically have only two drinks"
  4. I posted about this last week. I thought I was going to have a stroke when I heard that crap.
  5. I am pretty new at this myself Grampy. There are quite a few guys on here that have WAY more experience and really helped me. Best advice I can give is dive into the reloading manual. I only have three of them and my equipment is the Lee. I really liked the Lee manual best for the way it really was detailed and brought it down to the level of someone that knows about nothing....because I didn't..lol. Get yourself a 3 ring binder and I have a tab for each caliber and note sheets with my load work ups and folded up targets that show the results of each load. A couple things the guys on here had mentioned to me that really sunk in and I still hold. 1.Never get into a reloading session with distractions or being rushed for time. 2. If you have a doubt in your head about something you did, re-read, ask or take it apart and redo it. 3. Only change one variable at a time when workign up a load. 4. The most accurate load is seldom the fastest load 4. and the most important one. Have fun and don't drive yourself too nuts. It does get crazy for anybody that is a tinkerer.
  6. I know someone much closer if you get the dies.
  7. I've had VERY good luck with my Lee Turret. I use it like a single stage for my rifle reloading but the pistol ammo works very well in the turret mode.
  8. I NEVER said he was. My point was that the make up needs to be far more conservative that it is. Scalia was a perfect example of why not to put you eggs all in one basket
  9. And then he went on to talk about a bunch of restrictions he was ok with. right? I never read Heller as the home run it is touted as. That is one reason why I want more of these liberal SCOTUS justices to keel over and face plant in the next 3 years. I want that court stacked in our favor.
  10. There isn't a head stone above him while he is laying down?
  11. it doesn't say the right of the militia to keep and bear arms. Remember the first 10 articles are restrictions on the government. They are not an outline of freedoms. In that context it is clear the meaning especially if the founding fathers' of written of the period is understood. The militia was the people. All the people.
  12. So teens and youth can be influenced buy a movie scene but we are to believe they aren't by rap and music lyrics, violent video games and what passes now on prime time TV. They can't have it both ways.
  13. OK. We have officially gone over the edge. I was listening to the radio at lunch. The advertisement comes on for the movie Chappaquiddick. Well I am half listening and they get to the rating part and I still couldn't tell you what it was rated but I hear them during their listing to justify the rating say something that made my head explode. It wasn't "brief nudity" or "Strong language". I hear them say the movie contains "historical smoking". Are you F'ing kidding me. With the language and sexual content that is accepted in prime time TV, making Pot legal and a host of other things, we have to rate a movie for historical smoking? No wonder the youth are so screwed up.
  14. Both of those could be regulated under current NFA. The bump stock was ruled on by the BATF and THEY found it ok and no need to place the regulation on it since it was only a firearm part. They missed it's potential. That was in 20010. https://slidefire.com/files/BATFE.pdf I can easily see that a armed drone would get the AOW or DD designation.
  15. My point was ans remains that the current regulations are sufficient to handle any technological advances that may pop up. There is no need for more, there is no need to further regulate the firearms. The line that was previously drawn is sufficient on the national level. The Safe act and the like is an over reach.
  16. The re-certification means nothing as long as you got it in by the deadline. So I was one of the "cloggers"...... F them
  17. Other than forced work arounds to even increasing laws (bump stocks), what has really changed in the function of a firearm? The cartridges work the same. you have pistols, rifles, shotguns....single shots, pumps, bolts, semi-automatics and automatics. Automatics require a class 3 and I am actually ok with the NFA regulations and classifications as they are. You brought up bazookas and cannons ans such. almost without fail those are covered under the NFA as a destructive device. the shells are highly regulated since even a 1/4 ounce of explosive in a shell receives the Destructive Device (DD) designation. I know there are some work arounds for the muzzleloading cannons and a lot of that can be further regulated in the local level. I know they are used in reenactments and such so I an mot sure how that paperwork pans out. Other technological advances into things like the shotgun street sweepers seem to get classified into their catch all category in the NFA of Any Other Weapon. (AOW). I guess in summary the current laws are there to handle anything you mentioned. Nothing new is required and that is why I said I am fine with the current line in the sand.
  18. Two best baits I have used is leeches and Pig liver. Calf liver doesn't work well since it is too soft and they get it off the hook easily. If you cut the pig liver in strips about night crawler size and ball on the hook it is killer. great scent and I have never had one strip the bait off. stuff is and tough as leather
  19. Bullseye range camera system. Might be my next purchase or my birthday present.
  20. I have never seen a Kitchenaid or one of the cheap grinders handle the lower leg sections well that the OP is talking about. My horse and a quarter grinder does but he plate will still clog as they become a smeared film across the plate. Best advice I can give is either keep them whole and use a slow cooker method like a crockpot and make pulled venison, or pick up a pressure canner. Canning that cut will isolate the tendons and they pick right out when the can id opened for use.
  21. Why to you think you would have an opportunity after 5 with the one I posted? Do you realize that both guns function the same way and actually the photo of the one I posted is much more powerful than the one you did? or is your real issue the "clip"? How about this one? is this an assault weapon?
  22. That line was drawn years ago Doc and I am satisfied with it.
