  1. A survey in 2013 in PA also showed that 94% of respondents that said they were crossbow hunting also used a recurve and/or compound. Also look at eh historical take in PA. The harvest numbers in the 90's and early 2000's were far and away larger than they are now or since the crossbow inclusion. So it sure seems that there are far more forces in play here than the full inclusion of crossbows. http://www.pgc.pa.gov/HuntTrap/Hunting/HarvestDataandMaps/Pages/PennsylvaniaWhite-tailedDeerBlackBearWildTurkeyHarvestReport.aspx
  2. But you do if they use one and are not physically challenged? You must really have a poor opinion of folks that hunt with a gun then? What I don't get about those opposed to this is "what's the big deal and how does it affect you? Is you hunt going to be terrible and impacted becasue you father walks into the woods with a crossbow? If someone wants to use an weapon that is "easier" does that make you efforts to take one with a "more difficult" weapon any less of an accomplishment? I hear the lamenting over how it will be the"nasty slob gun hunters will trounce all over bow season, treat it like gun season and ruin the bow season". As I run around on some out of state forums in places that allow it, I don't hear all this doomsday playing out.
  3. 30-06 with 165 gr sierra game king and I haven't had an issue with blood trails when I did my part. You take the heart out and you will be a spray blood trail. This was last year.
  4. Two farms I have hunted over the years had two rules. don't drive through the crops and NEVER shoot a coyote. For the reason you stated.
  5. We really need to have an open discussion and education effort on what facts and opinions are. I do agree they have a trigger and a stock. that is a fact. That they are closer to a gun than a bow is an opinion and one not shared by many many State environmental agencies across the nation. and the part just before this underlined and in bold is also a fact.
  6. Wanna borrow my crossbow? lol. Sorry Doc, Just kidding.
  7. I can see how it appears that way. But let me remind everyone that these same "red" elected representatives ARE the ones that lined right up to cast a yes vote for the Safe act. That should have never passed either given that map.
  8. aside from the massive money that will be spent in the process. it is about impossible to see any conservative movement in the amendments. Those that are going to end up selected during the delegate process will be entrenched cronies and politicians. MANY MANY from the Liberal areas of the State. Their proposals, if anything, will be leaning more to the left. Then any proposals have to go through the ratification process and these liberal leaning changes could get voted in. (Just like Cuomo does). On the contrary, even if we are lucky enough to get a conservative leaning amendment out of the delegates, it will never get ratified. So in My mind, don't spend the money and don't leave the fox in charge of the hen house. I don't see anything positive coming out of a Constitutional Convention with the current state political make up. We are too far gone becasue of the metro areas and down state.
  9. I wish I could hit the like button on this a bunch of times. Perfectly said Moog and congrats.
  10. Don't forget the propositions on the back!!! I'll be voting no on the Constitutional Convention, Yes on the pension removal for convicted state officials and yes on the land swap in the State forest preserve.
  11. What "facts" aren't accepted? Seems to me there is mechanical details that about everyone I see on here agrees with. The rest seems to be opinion on whether or not to include with a host of different reasons but those aren't facts. Which ones are you referencing.
  12. Very very very strong wood. I didn't like it alone but a bit tossed in to other woods like apple and cherry tosses the flavor up a bit.
  13. Oh don’t go confusing things with facts. I’m enjoying his alternate reality.
  14. I missed more good bucks than I have put on the ground in my early career. It happens. one of the biggest in my life I missed as it ran by me in a swamp at about 5 feet. I think anyone that is on here with year sunder their belt knows your pain. When you add to that story the part where you actually take it is will be all the better.
  15. I know. I think the reference was about leaving interpretation to some officers that don’t know basic laws to say nothing about gray ones.
  16. wow. That definitely puts a different spin on it. Only thing I know of that is carbon and that big is gouging electrodes but I have only seen them is round and rectangle.
  17. I have been back and forth and back again on this in my head. What you said is where I ended up and couldn't agree more. i will be voting NO.
  18. his comment was to a comment made about a ticket for no plug in an over and under.
  19. It's a woodless pencil. many have a clear coating on the outside so it doesn't get on your hands. Used in art a lot
  20. I haven't had a problem with them or sharpening them. I didn't know they made a special stone for them. I just use a flat diamond honing stone and it get them shaving sharp. The one bad blood trail I had with mine was totally my fault. I screwed up the shot. I did finally give into the rage crowd and picked them up for the crossbow. I can't wit to see what a 2.3" hole looks like.
  21. No. You have the problem. It’s called cranial recrumitis. You called the manufactures misguided for making a crossbow that can’t be used in NY. In fact with out limited season is makes perfect business sense to discount NY when developing a model or limiting concern about it. On your second pour is is obvious you know very little about regulations and laws. Might want to read up and educate yourself
  22. How about they should put all public land at true traditional equipment only. On private land, let the owners decide which they want to allow.
  23. Paying for my daughters college, I will be retired about 30 seconds after I face plant at work.
