Personally I wouldn't mess with .5 gr on the first outing. (but I have easy access to the range.) What I have found with my guns is accuracy is like a Bell curve working up the loads. it gets good to a point and then drops off. SO I don't see a need to load a bunch of rounds that are on the right side and falling off of the accuracy curve. I haven't had anything that is close to max loads that ended up being the most accurate. That said for the H4350, I would load 3 rounds at 39 and 40 and 41and 42. (12 rounds). Once those groups are established I would take the best and work between those numbers. I would bet a beer that you end up between 40.5 and 41.5. for the 55gr bullet. I strongly suggest getting very good stability for shooting the groups....lead sled, sand bags or such, taking as much human involvement out as you can.

Governor Announces Support for Crossbows in NY
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Tinlodge's topic in CrossBow Hunting
Then he is barking up the wrong tree. From what I have seen here on the forum and heard in discussion amongst people I know, Inclusion of crossbows will piss off the hardened archery folks. I think it is more of an attempt to regain favor of the firearms hunters by letting the ones that do not bow hunt into bow season. Personally I don't think gun owners will be so easily bought off....at least I hope not. -
Governor Announces Support for Crossbows in NY
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Tinlodge's topic in CrossBow Hunting
I don't agree. I don't believe the classifications they choose to register will define them as a politician BUT their voting record easily places them in the spectrum of fascism to communist/socialist. So words like liberal are easy to apply fairly accurately. -
It is that video about "I saw it on the internet, so it has to be true"

Culvercreek hunt club replied to Grizz1219's topic in Out of New York Hunting
15 minutes between shot 2 and 3? video seemed seamless. Nice bull and nice editing. -
I can't paste but I really wanted to put the Allstate video here...lol

Great point. I see folks post quite a bit without the letters. Can make a difference.(when in doubt go to the manual, when not in doubt, still go to the manual)

Great response. It is important in these type of threads, when talking about bullet selection, that we specify what game they are used on.

Yup. It is in the A-hole

The warm weather will really help but This thread got me thinking. I know the does would have the big reserves with all the food that was available in most of the state. My question is the bucks. The last one I skinned in late season was basically hide on meat. no fat at all from the rut. How assuming they still run pretty hard to the second rut in December, how quickly can bucks build back up the reserves? The does have had the feed bag on for months to build up theirs. Could a hard winter or heavy ice coverage have a worse impact on buck numbers that doe numbers?

He isn't saying anything about DMPS. His numbers were perfect for regular tags but it would have to be in late season. Need one of those multi fire crossbows of carry a dozen ML's to the stand with you...lol

ammo law
Culvercreek hunt club replied to silent death's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
wonder why? All long guns do not require registration, even with the safe act. -
If you want to do it with a bow or ML then I agree. If it is a gun, then it is 7

Have you seen the reviews of the new Remington R-51? It doesn't appear to be available yet but it is a remake of their old 51. Got really good reviews. Only available in 9mm at first but later in 40. Can't wait to hold it
-
Beat we can do here Doc, if my math is correct would be 7. If nuisance tags aren't in the mix. 6 doe tags and a buck tag. So if we don't get 4 with 2 shots gonna need a reload. Lol
-
If it bothers a hunter that much they should probably take up another past time. I have yet to have one lay down with just my words. No matter how nicely I ask them
-
So you seem to sound like you think this was reckless?
-
I have taken two from a group with the ML twice. First time I Just had to wait for them to line up correctly. Second time I took first while they were trotting. At the first shot they all stopped and let me reload. I thought that was very considerate of them.

A Licensed Plumber Wouldn't Do This.........
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Lawdwaz's topic in General Chit Chat
Seems like a good solution. Wasn't Out of level enough to need and 8 track. Lol -
Is it just me? If he was in it for the venison, he did a damn good job

And they do DIRECTLY with the EBT card. I have seen it. Slide into any one of the City stores that make their cash from Cigs, booze and Lottery and has just a few food items to meet the requirements and they do it all the time. It is never enforced. You aren't gonna be able to swing it in a store like Wegman''s because of their automated systems but in the small ones it happens all the time.
