problems with nockturnal lighted nocks
Culvercreek hunt club replied to tibio's topic in Bow Hunting
Tibio, Are you talking about the knock coming out of the arrow or the knock coming off the string? If it is coming off the string just GENTLY pinch the knock closed a bit. the serving is smaller diameter than the knock opening. I have had that problem with knocks before. If the knock is coming out of the arrow I don't know. Maybe hot glue since you may want to get it out at some point. If you super glue it and end up breaking an ear on the knock I think it would be a hassle. -
I had never heard what Eagle said before that the .30-06 is the parent to the 270. I guess it would be more accurate to say Grand Parent. The -06 was based on a shortened .30-06 casing and the -06 casing was then necked down for the .270. The parent cartrige of the .270 is the -06.
-
Edit. Was that a development in the past and modified currently? The -06 can easily be resized for a 270? As many have said the 06 is more versatile but basically the 270 has less recoil becasue of the weight of the bullets typically used in it. In the same gun I doubt you could feel the difference between a 150 gr out of a 270 and a 165 out of an .06. That said the .06 ammo is more available and until the recent ammo shortage, military surp. was available for cheap plinking. Both callibers are available in reduced recoil rounds so both are guns you can tone down if you wish.

Better read the Regs. That officer shoud too. Unless it is that one county that had the suit over it. Was that Sullivan?

That is a new deer trap that the DEC hasn't included int he regulations yet.Perfectly legal here in Ny for the time being. It is a refrigerated block of ice and the deer's tongue sticks to it and hold him there until you show up to shoot him,

Maybe he shot him in street clothes...lol

On stand. Hope the area is as active as last night -
yeah and last night didn't go to the stand I wanted to. Instead I went to a stand the "wind" dictated I should. Yup you guessed it. Bachelor group of 6 bucks and two of them were ones I was looking for walked within 10 yards of THAT stand. Not the one I was in. I had to settle for watching them walk by it at about 90 yards. Obviously the deer have not read the same articles and books I have...lol

set up a quick target and thorw a confidence arrow before you go out. Who knows what could have got knocked on you. Good luck

Timeline for processing deer in the warmer weather
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Dorsilfin's topic in Bow Hunting
I would not let it hang over night in these temps unless it is in a cooler. I would at a minimum get it skinned and quartered and get them in coolers with ice is you can't fully process it. That is what stinks about an evening watch in this weather. It makes for a long night. -

It is a good buck, but not as good as the others running around there. -

Rumor has it he Armorall's his bed liner. and I hear he waxes his tail pipe. On second thought skip that last part I got that wrong and I don't think I was supposed to repeat that one. -
Bet it is good. Steamer? you mean a water bath or pressure canner?

I woud do just a GM said. However you won't get rid of all of it. It sn't just coming off the surface. it is off gassing components used to make them and that is IN the material and working it's way out. Happens with all stuff. (think new car smell or new carpet or paint in you house). The only thing that will do 100% is time. I would scrub them and just as NY Bbuck said, gett'em dirty.

How are you guys posting pics here? Mine says the forum disabled it? -
Not a fan of doing that. That pocket right behind that pelvic bone is home the the bladder. If you cut around the anus with a slender blade and tie it off it all slides out with the rest If the guts. I guess there are 100 different ways the skin the cat.....I mean buckSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

My father a Has a Cutco. It is a bit bigger than I like but the edge is scary sharp. I used it to dress and skin 6 deer and a bear as well as processing them. Was as sharp at the end of the season as in the beginning. But if it comes in contact with your hand you will be cut and not even know it. It is the fixed blade model. I would live one but they are pricey Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
