First-light

Last year we let guys come in with dogs. They took about 20. They were back last week but I didn't get an update.

Headed out tomorrow with my brother and niece. FYI Sunday starts the no reservation system for the last week. They said to be there by 6 to get your name in the lottery. I'll report back in.

We are so diverse in our end goal. Here is a little slice of the property that borders me. How could the DEC make everyone happy?? My property is 6 hours from home. We hunt bow and gun. We take our share, some years 4 deer this year 2. Time and travel are a factor. If its late or your last hunt a yearling or fawn will do. My neighbor 200 acres. 80% of them come from out of state. They shoot any buck walking. Only the land owners get doe permits (3). My neighbor to the north 400 acres. They practice QDM. Only mature bucks and does get harvested. 5 people in this group, 2 are kids. This property gets lightly hunted. One of the reasons I see a lot of deer. To my west 100 acres. 3 people hunt this and will shoot any deer that comes by. Diversity for sure…...

Hell Steve, that not true for everyone. You would still need a gun at my camp. lol

Good luck, the hard part is sticking to it. My solution was to work out first thing in the morning. That way nothing can screw it up.

In the earlier pictures it looks like that could of been a fibroma. Maybe he had it with the fibroma and some how punctured it and rubbed most off. The dark thing dangling was the dark hairless skin. Nice buck congrats, did you butcher him up?

One of the best hunts ever was when I was deer hunting and had 6 bear show up in one afternoon sit. It had nothing todo with horns!

Just had a roast that was 14 months old. stored in a regular frost free freezer for 12 months then a non frost free freezer for 2 months. The meat was wonderful.

I didn't gut any and the guys didn't say anything about it. Oh well maybe next time! lol

Hey just hunted on LI yesterday. Now we went out there to hunt deer. I know my odds were very slim shooting a buck because some have shed and pressure was not high. This goes for most that hunted so with that said we mostly hunted doe and the turnout was real good. Plenty of people hunting does.

just got back in . we didn't connect but three doe and one 6 point were brought in. Happy to see some guys from Poughkeepsie NY came down and scored on a nice doe. It was great hanging with them. We saw 9 doe and 1 buck for the day.

Correct and actually we have the other spots on that side also. A friend of ours put in for spot 5. So now 7 of us will be hunting that area. Going to be cold but sunny out. Just about ready to head over to my brothers house. I report back in tonight.

Was this guy from Long Island? I read a post during gun season on FB that this guy let his 5 or 6 year old pull the trigger on a deer. When I read it I couldn't believe he posted the story.

My brother saw a nice 8 pt at spot 45 on Middle country road last Thursday. Bucks still holding horns.

We are out tomorrow. 6 of us will drive deer most of the day. I also heard Rocky point was down on deer take.

Isles look good but they are not the team to beat. It will be a great 2nd half season for sure.

Its been a long long time since any team has swept the west coast……………that's all I have to say about that!
