As far as this year, I can't say because my first day won't be until this Wednesday. But I have to say, for me anyway, by far my most productive times have been from legal shooting time till around 10 AM or so. When you're positive the rut is on,,,,,,,,,, any time is a good time.

About 15 years ago I was turkey hunting on property I hunted since I was a kid. I found a back tag from the 1978 season. Thats the only one I ever saved. Every time I look at it I wonder who lost it. Good chance it belonged to someone I knew or knew of. Weird..I know..

Im pretty sure you can purchase game birds through the mail. Believe it or not.

Anything other than hot drinks, I use the small Gadorade bottles. They are a way thicker plastic and don't "Krinkle" and make that loud, piss you off, noise. I would guess they are about 12 oz. or so. One will last me at least the morning or evening sit.

I have made a lot of scrapes. Neve shot or even seen a buck use one, while I was on stand, but I have seen my mock scrapes torn up which lets me know bucks are there.!!! I just find a small, low hanging sapling, and scrape the crap out of the ground under it with a stick (wear rubber gloves and boots) Then I smack the hell out of the over hanging "licking branch" with the stick until it is all bent and broken down. I half burry a leaf and add 4 or 5 drops of buck piss on top of the leaf.. Thats it. It works about 40- 50% of the time. I might try to piss in on this year. I have always been too paranoid to try it…but it sounds like it just might work...
