    Easter

someone needs to control their pet!!! lol
  2. Great day ... Looks like a another project for the buck boiler?
  3. I havn't received the newsletter this year with the offering. Did you just get it?
  4. I was up on Friday and got a bunch of work done. Cut down a tree at my pond food plot to let some more light in. It was brassica last year and it was completely bare so I decided to fertilize and frost landino clover. Hopefully it will take! I also got a chance to fix the heat on the trailer which stopped working during the opening of rifle season. I had to blow out the line with my compressor. I guessing spiders got inside. Finally, I found a couple new stand sites. The deer runs right now are really visible especially with the snow melting. I can't wait to get back up again, so much work to do!
  5. Looks great...love the sneak!
  6. Gino...have you pulled the plants out of your garage yet? I had ordered 10 bare root chestnut trees, planted them in pots, and have them sitting in the garage. Just not sure when it is safe to keep them outside?
  7. Is it too early to plant clover during the first or second week of April?
  8. The chestnut trees I ordered from gurneys came today. Not bad for $6 a piece. Probably should pick up some miracle grow! Lol. I plan on leaving them on my deck for the year so they can grow and planting them next spring. Anybody know the growth rate for these trees?
  9. Not sure what size you're looking for but trophy Amish cabins makes a real nice 10 x 16 with a porch for around $8000. I believe that price includes delivery as well.
  10. I'm not sure if it's truly a win for taxpayers. Bottom line is school districts can cut teachers and close schools within the district to save money. However, teachers pay and pensions are not going to be effected. Sadly, the students will be and property values will definately decrease. I know I wouldn't want to move to a district with minimal school programs and closing schools.
  11. Where do you get your info from? I don't know any homes on Long Island that are worth 200k and also pay 12000 a year in taxes. Do you really believe that ny schools caused the collapse of the housing market? It wasn't greedy bankers giving loans out to prospective homebuyers that couldn't afford the ballon mortgages they were applying for? What about the the homeowners who refinanced their homes two or three times for pools and vacations?
  12. Very cool project Sam... I can only imagine the smell that comes out of the boiler! When I boil the skull plate in the kitchen my wife flips out. No big deal for the once a year smell. Lol
  13. I can't tell you why that particular teacher stopped sending books home. My students are sent home books weekly based on reading levels as well as interest, regardless of goals achieved. I try to encourage my students to enjoy reading, not just to say that a goal has been achieved and now you can stop. I do believe that parents should take more of an initiative and take their children to the library. Encourage reading in the home. If a person met their goal weight, should they stop eating healthy and exercising?
  14. That's the point I'm trying to make Gino. Doctors give their patients all the info they need to lose the weight and become healthier. Most people do little beyond that point. Same is true in the classroom. Teachers can give students all the tools and strategies to become better readers, but if they never open a book at home they will suffer academically.
  15. Are doctors in the U.S. to blame for obsetiy. One out of every three people in the U.S. is obese. The U.S. ranks #2 for obesity!!! http://www.livestrong.com/article/347190-obesity-in-america-vs-other-countries/
  16. On a similar note maybe today's parents are not doing a good enough job. Number 1 in teen birth rates. http://www.thenationalcampaign.org/resources/pdf/TBR_InternationalComparison.pdf Or maybe today's police officers are not doing a good enough job. We are also ranked number one in gun related killings compared with other developed countries. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/worldviews/wp/2012/12/14/chart-the-u-s-has-far-more-gun-related-killings-than-any-other-developed-country/ Number 1 in crime http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_tot_cri-crime-total-crimes It is very difficult to compare the U.S. with other countries when there are so many different variables to take into account. Being a teacher myself, I can definately say that our educational system needs dramatic change to compete with other countries, however, much of this needed change is in the hands of people like Cuomo!! Enough said!!
  17. Based on the article that I believe Sits found: http://www.greatschools.org/students/academic-skills/1075-u-s-students-compare.gs Finland was ranked #1 in education and if you read through the article, some of the reasons noted are pretty interesting. 1) Students are separated into academic and vocational tracks during the last three years of high school. About 50% go into each track. 2) Finland uses very little standardized testing. and 3) College is free in Finland. These differences are drastic compared to the United States. Students today are bombarded with standardized test starting in the third grade. For the most part, all students are geared for college, even those would definately benefit from learning a trade. I believe that NYS has just recently began talking about adding a seperate vocational diploma, but I doubt that will ever happen. And, like you stated your paying 28k a year for college.
  18. I pay close to 9000 for my property taxes on the island. My house is a little over 1700 sq ft and on the lot is about .2 of an acre. I have 72 acres with no structure in schoharie county and pay roughly 2000 for school and county taxes. Hearing some of the taxes payed by others, I'm pretty lucky and can't complain.
  19. Can you see if there is a "s" mint mark below the wreath. Hard to tell from the picture and condition of the coin. From what I found online it would be worth about a buck in good condition... yours might be worth a penny. lol ... Still real cool!
  20. Sounds like a real nice stroll! Real nice!
  21. I just tried and it worked. I selected the trees that were 29.99 and proceeded to checkout. Typed in code 0531094 and clicked update. Price dropped down to 4.99 a piece. I would definately keep trying.
  22. I think ny is talking about post 17 picture 11. I thought it was one of your dogs at first but at a closer look I'm not really sure what it is as well.
  23. I definately agree. I think the simplicity of the skull and antlers is what makes it. Great job... Looks awesome!
