wheelieman replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
Here is my baby girl Daisy, AKA Fingerlakes Waterfowls Hitti'n Em Hard,, She got some training in on a slow morning goose hunt this year, Pic by Tyler Breen This guy is amazing with a cam, Some of the videos he does are straight professional. -
Had a WG cam just stopped working one day, I called them they replaced, Same camera died again, Had 2 more cams and sure enough they both ended up not working, Im gonna stick with my moultries even though one of them is a little blurry at least you can get the idea, My card reader is a WGI and i made the mistake of reformatting my memory cards with it and the cards wouldnt retain pics taken, So i had to reformat on my lap top, Now they work fine, Ill still use the WGI reader as long as it works, but im done buying they're products,

Taking of young bucks does it really make sense?
wheelieman replied to HuntNfish100's topic in Region 5
I myself can do common core math, Never said it was easier but to see the effect it has had on the younger generations and their ability too do math is great, The way they introduced it was wrong, Same with AR and other management ideas, Im just saying if you take a 130in whitetail stick him in the field next to a 50in whitetail, There isnt a hunter on this site or any where for that matter that wouldnt shoot the larger of the 2 bucks, Point being if you shoot every little buck on the property they will never mature into the big bucks that everybody dreams of at night, You take a 3 year old doe and place her next to 1.5 old buck chances are she is bigger then the buck, If your a meat hunter why would you shoot the buck; Instead of the doe?, I mean your there for the meat right? Get this where i hunt the people up the road only shoot bucks, every year they get between 8-10 of them ranging in all sizes and age groups, They refuse to shoot doe, So the buck population is extremely low in my area, Its that type of situation that needs to stop, Again just my $.02 -

I guess im gonna compare another hated topic to the whole AR and doe only, Common core everybody our age hates it, Its different and we are not used to change, Therefor we all hate it, But the system works, kids that started school with the program get along fine and actually do well, I think its the same with AR make the changes now and the future hunters wont know the difference therefor its normal and not a problem, Just my $.02 -
The woods have red oaks that havent really started dropping, The trees ive looked at are loaded with acorns, Also a lot of beech trees, As well as a few hickory,

Just got done hanging stands at my spot, The farmers have already cut all of the beans surrounding the area and started cutting the corn on friday, The hay field was just cut and bailed last week, Now i noticed that the farmer planted what i believe to be winter wheat, on 20 acres, This the earliest ive ever seen them cut everything, Is any body else experiencing the same issues?

I always drag them out and bring them home during bow season, ive seen a hundred deer walk by gut piles and not be scared, But the one time a bucked spooked it was a good one, To me its not worth leaving them, Or giving on open invitation to predators, I have a deer hoist in the garage and it takes me less time to get home then it does to gut it,

Im all for QDM, Also 1 and Done, antler restrictions, earn a buck, Leave the little ones for future years, Harvest the older more mature animals, But what gets my panties in a knot is, 1. So called meat hunters, If you shoot a 35 pound button buck, How are you a meat hunter, A nice doe goes about 130 maybe bigger depending on location, 2. Land being tied up by people who lease and never hunt, Its rampant in my area, But its still the land owners choice. 3. The mistakes made by past hunters who did something wrong and now the land owner will not allow any body on their property, 4.People who insist on shooting deer in the head, With arrows or bullets, The chance of wounding the animal is great, besides the lung, heart area is much larger of a target, 5.Trespassers 6.Poachers 7.Treestand thieves Those are real problems, Too me;not "CITY FOLK"

wheelieman replied to 45/70's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Mossburg 500 12 ga. opening morning almost 20 years ago i harvested a nice doe, -
I ran into this a dozen years ago for the first time, I shot a nice squirrel and laid it down next to the stump i was sitting on, About an hour later i was spacing out just relaxing when i looked down there were these giant maggot looking things crawling out of the cooling carcass, Yup freaked me out lmao, Not gonna lie i didnt bring that squirrel home that day, Then i did a bunch of research and found what they are, So now i just let my neighbor eat them,

Dual Pistol Registration
wheelieman replied to fasteddie's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Seneca county all you do is just take a relatives serial number and 3.00 they will add it on to your permit, My brothers pistol is on mine and mine is on his, I used his sidearm to get my permit. Seneca has a plastic card and every time you amend it they issue a new card with the updated info, We did it this way just in case some thing happens to one of us the other would keep the sidearms, -

My Black lab was bred 3 times in as many days, So that means in a couple of months the pups will be born, Both the stud and the bitch have great hunting blood lines and both parents are bird retrieving machines, The female was graded Excellent on her OFA the stud graded good, He is a big male with a great hunting drive he lives full time as a lap dog, She is a small female whos only job in life is to retrieve, The rest of the time you can catch her sleeping in my recliner or playing with the kids, Both parents are from households with young children, Pedigrees are available to view off line, She will be going to the vet in a couple weeks to verify her pregnancy, If anybody is interested in a pup or know some body who is feel free to leave a message.

You still have to test the water for hardness and other minerals, The passages through the heat exchanger are small and clog easy, If you dont test you could ruin your heater in a year or two, You still would have to drain the system and winterize it when you wont be there it still holds enough water to do severe damage when not in use, If the water is over 5 grains hard the manufacturer might( probably) will require you treat the water and prefilter before it goes through the unit, In the end depending on the water quality it might be cheaper to look in to other avenues too heat your water, There are several small 115v heaters that are point of use that might be a better option, The recovery rates are pretty decent and you should be able to shower in the middle of winter without to much problem, THe company i work for sells several different varieties of instant water heaters and the amount of declined warranty claims due to mineral build up is amazing, Its just food for thought,

Even though you would be using rain water you would still have to test for hardness, I know some will say rain water is not hard but we tested it at work a few years back and it can be, Second a tankless option is rather expensive compared to other types of tanks, A point of use water heater anywhere from 2-7 gallons might be an option, Depending on the amount of people that would be using it, The 3rd thing is sizing it depends on the amount of fixtures x how many gallons to figure out the max flow rate that could be called upon at any given moment, So shower heads are around 2.5 gallons the kitchen faucet shout be about the the same as well as the bathroom, so if thats all you have you need one that would heat a max 7.5 gallons a minute, Your Pressure could be controlled by a water pressure regulater,, But hey maybe im wrong

The time spent with family and friends in the field and the memories created are worth the price of admission, Honestly if the kid wants to do it; just go and do it, How much does a playstation cost,or a trip for 2 too Applebees, Seems to me that you could hunt more than a few weekends for those prices. Pass down the heritage one child at a time and hunting will be a privilege that the children will enjoy and their children will enjoy. Get them involved teach them, They are the next generation to carry on the traditions that we all love, Doesnt matter how much it costs. JMHO
