You running the same size dipsies on all rods. I was going to try a magnum and regular on each side but 3 per side is crazy. I could just see tangles galore. And good on your son bringing in that monster. Definitely a battle for someone his size.

I try to keep em under 3" for the antlerless tag.

did you steal that spike from my trophy room?

No disagreement from me on this point Wooly. And I can't comment on jawbone aging as I am ill informed to do so. Of course that has not stopped me from commenting on other subjects of which I am ill informed.

Holy smokes. Never would have guessed that Euro is 170. Looks good but not that big.

cool display and just confirms you can't age by horns

Plot Question re Cutting
moog5050 replied to moog5050's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I didn't realize thistle is considered a grass and would be killed by cleth. I recall when it was legal not too long ago. I agree, I will take the easy approach and not do anything or perhaps spot treat next time I am at the property if I feel ambitious. -
Plot Question re Cutting

Good idea although I might be too lazy to spot treat each plant if I am honest. -
Plot Question re Cutting

They are mid shin now. Deer are eating around them. There are spots loaded with thistle, but some areas are clear. I am inclined to leave it also. Just annoying when comparing the two plots. Lesson learned. -
Plot Question re Cutting

Does the cleth kill the brassicas? Not sure I understood your suggestion. -
Bob, I actually tested that theory a few years ago when I had compounds and limbs at various weights. Tried 50-60lb limbs maxed and then 60-70lb limbs turned down to the same weight as the maxed 60lb limb on the same bow. My conclusion was that it depended on the bow and the difference was negligible in any event. I can't recall which bow it was (was an elite) but I know at least one shot faster with limbs turned down vs. maxed out. As you can tell, I must have been bored. lol

DB, I didn't know any of the elites had yokes. I haven't spent any time with anything newer than about 2014. I know the hunter and many of the earlier elites because I owned most of them, although never had a victory. We both learned something. Yokes are easier to tune than swapping shims for sure.

So one of my plots that I crushed with glysophate before planting looks like a magazine cover for plotting. The second plot which I did not have time to spray before tiling and planting looks like one would expect - a great mix of brassicas, clover, grass and thistle. The thistle is coming in pretty thick. I know the deer are using that plot already daily. But, the question is whether I should cut it. The brassicas and clover are still shorter than the thistle. I suspect on the highest setting, I could cut the thistle with some damage but minimal to the brassicas. Worth cutting, or just let it be and learn the lesson to always spray first? I don't care if its pretty as long as it remain a draw this season. I am a bit concerned that the thistle will crowd out the brassicas as the thistle is growing faster than the brassicas.

Yep yep. Nice to see.

I think Larry is just regretting buying the Subaru. Misses the classic Buick and has lost his sense of humor. 99% of what I post is a joke, intentional or not.

I was just kidding. Figured people here would know it. Sorry Larry. Not Andrews fault.

You will disturb the animals by just having your scent in new areas. Plenty of time for them to adjust. If you can use a brush hog for paths, I would do it. Otherwise I would grab a chain saw and slowly rip through it. I have cut quite a few ATV trails doing the same thing. I also like a gas trimmer with a blade for the low stuff but be careful of kickback. I have some very think property and did probably 3/4 mile of ATV trails with the chainsaw and gas trimmer but I wish I had borrowed the brush hog first. My buddy did one trail for me in 10 min that would have taken hours. I still cleaned it up afterwards but was way easier including through multiflora. Also used a hand held lopper as needed and when I ran out of gas. Works fine on everything under an inch or so just slower.

Reason I was shooting at 40 yesterday was to confirm tune/ arrow flight. First broadhead shot this year at a bit past 20. What I was hoping to see. Bareshafts slightly and I mean slightly stiff tend to shoot true for me. 250g VPA 3 blade.

I am going to guess and say 20-25 compounds and about the same number of recurves. In the past, I bought and sold a lot - too many- used. I haven’t bought a compound in 3 years. Have a 2014 obsession Phoenix that shoots great. And am trying to keep recurve purchases to a min. Have 5 currently. Best buck was killed with a black widow.

Thanks Rob. I need some work on longer shooting.

Happy happy BDay!

Very interested. Love to bring the family for a vacation with the ATV. Will be watching. Have fun and thanks.
-
This was a very high end recurve and it couldn’t help this crappy group at 40. That’s the overweight Indian not the bow.

Happy BDay my friend.

We can all sleep better at night knowing that ..

I have a real issue with people eating the elephant crackers.
