  1. I have killed two deer with the ML - one at 80ish and the other probably a bit over 90yds.
  2. At least now you can understand how a 330lber can be so stealthy and ninja like in the stand. Trust me - its gravitational waves.
  3. Post it on the archerytalk classifieds. Many more shoppers there I bet.
  4. Phade I understand the argument that the DMP should be over the counter, but do you really believe that's the limitation on doe take? Even in our group, we kill what 5-6 deer each and always have extra DMPs. We don't stop shooting doe due to the lack of tags. Its more of the "enough is enough" at some point as a hunter. For me, its when I have plenty of meat and don't want to do any more butchering. Again, I don't disagree that the tags should be freely available to those willing to use them, but I question how many hunters would kill more doe than we do even if the tags are OTC.
  5. I have suggested it before, but I think you can still buy the zeiss conquest from euro optics for $300. Heck of a scope for that price. It compares reasonably well with the Zeiss HD5 that costs me more than twice as much.
  6. WOW! Lets see the step by step please
  7. The bear attack scene made be reconsider my desire to hunt for a big brown bear with a bow. lol
  8. LOL - very nice. Handsome boy and deerslayer in the making.
  9. This is likely why your valley is not where it should be. Lengthen the chord and tie it further down the cable. I tie mine directly into the cable (serve above the where the chord is inserted in the cable) and simply set in the split cable then draw the bow on the board until it hits full draw, pull on the chord until arm is fully erect and then let down the bow. Mark that spot on the chord, pull it further through the cable and cut/melt at the marked point. That will stop it where you need it. That will ensure that the arm is coming up at the last possible moment, but still being fully raised. You will find your valley again.
  10. It should be clamped or tied in just BELOW the bottom of the grip. It should also not have any tension until the last inch of your draw and be fully raised when you hit full draw. Much easer to install correctly with a draw board. If you are around Rochester, happy to tie it in for you.
  11. If you have a grinder, its really not hard to mix the meat with ground pork shoulder by hand and do sausage patties. Trust me, my family members that claim not to like venison, love the Italian and breakfast sausage. Assuming you have less than 20lbs, its a 2-3 hour job. Have you tried using the burger in tacos or chili? Also pretty good if mixed with 1/4 ground bacon (my kids love these burgers). To your original question, I have no idea. Costanzas is the only one I have used.
  12. Great buck. I honestly doubt it would be more meaningful it netted 3 inches more. Congrats
  13. Don't go blowing all that loot on another camera.
  14. Sorry to hear that Eddie. Will keep you in prayer for a quick recovery. I had a stone once and the pain came on so quick and bad, I literally thought I was having a heart attack. Nope just a tiny little stone. They are brutal.
  15. You can buy a darn nice custom recurve for $1300. I am an elite fan, but I won't buy a recurve from them at that price point. I much prefer the richness of a wood bow anyways. When it comes to arrows, however, I stick with carbons for consistency. I know wood can be made with consistency, but more expensive and more hassle. Once I tune the recurve with an arrow, I want to know I can order another dozen that will essentially be exactly the same without much hassle.
  16. It attaches to a strap around the tree. How do you get down if it hit the fan, you either use your cell or hope someone comes looking. Not to diminish the risk, but many ladder stands are only 12' high or so. if you were hanging from the strap, the drop would likely be 6-8'. Something you could likely manage when prepared even if you cut the strap yourself at your age.
  17. I agree with you and Law on this. Last year I shot a doe from the ground at 27yds (measured later) with a recurve and it was pure joy to see the arrow hit EXACTLY where I wanted it to. I was so pumped at that shot, the fact that it was a doe made no difference.
  18. Good answers but I think some missed the point of my question. I realize that no one knows for certain that they killed their biggest buck. The question was premised on the fiction that you do know for certain and without a doubt that you will not kill a bigger buck than you have already. It also assumed that size of antlers was your numero uno priority. Regardless, interesting responses.
  19. Yep - heck of a job. Certainly doesn't look like a first attempt.
  20. Perhaps I would start hunting with an atlatl. Then I could set my new best based on weapon.
  21. That just shows that you have a good spot for lightening strikes. lol And, with your biggest hanging already, I suspect hunting in the rain is less likely.
  22. I would probably keep hunting myself, but my dedication may slip a bit. I liken it to powerlifting. I was very serious about that for years. Now at almost 46 years old, I recognize that my biggest lifts are behind me. Can I still be very strong, yes. But I really can't expect to set any new personal records and that has impacted my drive to train hard without a doubt. I would expect that same thing could happen with hunting. Once you hit the pinnacle, its tough to stay as motivated.
