No I got it up in Ulster country with a rifle. I've only hunted LI once and I didn't like it too much. I'll be trying again this year though.

Hahahaha thanks again. Good thing you didn't say that lol. I can see why you thought it was a cross country trophy though. Actually now that I think maybe you should have...would have been hilarious.
-
Hahaha good catch but Its actually my little league baseball trophy. I appreciate the nice words though!

Patterns great out to 45 yards...maybe more, but that's all I cared to pattern it to. The whole black portion of the target was completely covered in shot with only one or gaps. Wish I had a picture of the pattern. Defiantly recommend these shells and gun.

Ill be using my mossberg 535. Never got anything with it, but I haven't had much time to turkey hunt the last 4 years. Ill be using a hevi-shot choke with hevi-shot mag blends and a truglo red dot that came with the gun.

Good luck up there!

If you clean it after you get home, I don't see an advantage of stainless over blued.

Haha no doubt about that! I was just telling my father the morning of the day I got the call that I should be getting a call from them any day now.

Jealous guys! I studied all day for a couple exams this week. -
Just got my 2015 buck back yesterday from fish and wildlife taxidermy in Long Island. What do you guys think of it?personally I think he did a good job, but then again I only have one other mount done by the same guy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Depending on the time of the year I usually have 3 or so layers on, I wear a camo backpack for my grunt calls, tp, doe bleats things like that. Its not much really. Early in the season the only thing I take is a knife, tags, doe bleat and grunt call.Obviously I carry my bow or rifle with me always at the ready.

Toms have a full fan and a longer beard...jakes usually have a 2" beard max and the middle tail feathers are longer compared to the ones on the edges.

Sounds like a great thread. Cant wait to see what the property holds.

I'm sure it'll kill deer with in 200 yards with no problem! Don't think its any better than an 06, 308, 270 or any of the other larger calibers at 99 percent of the shot distances here in NY, but its defiantly a viable caliber.

Turkeyfeather has the best strategy. Get it sighted in at 20 then take a shot or 2 at 40 and you should be good to go.

I never got the survey either. I would gladly do it if i were to receive it

I watch the show as well. I think its a good show.

I use one for ranging certain areas that i think deer will come down, so I know the approx range the deer will be at. Really helps out IMO.

Im excited for this year as well! I got pictures of big toms during deer season and seeing turkey was pretty much a daily thing. I even heard gobbling opening day of gun season for 2 hours. Hopefully they stick around till May.
