  1. Exactly! When ever anything stresses your body your immune system then becomes compromised. That can be from being cold, hot, stressed from work/school ...etc.
  2. That's awesome! I only ever hunted LI once and got yelled at by some guys, so I haven't been back for deer. Kudos for braving the public lands during the shotgun season.
  3. Personally I would keep it the way it was when i shot it. If the antler was broken after I shot, then I would repair it.
  4. Now I have almost no experience coyote hunting, but If your stuck with a .22lr I would stay in the woods. That way the shots will be closer versus the fields. Good luck our there! If its possible for you to take a shotgun with buck shot, I would take that before the .22.
  5. I never get the shot. The people that make the flu basically make the best educated guess on what strain will be most common this year and make it based on that strain. So you can get the shot, have your body build an immunity to that strain and still get sick with a slightly different flu. You also can still get sick from that same strain if your body kind of rejects and it basically was pointless to get. Sometimes its just not effective either. I think I got it once in my life and honestly I won't be as long as I'm still healthy. As far as people getting sick from the shot, I don't believe that the virus they inject is actually live. I believe it just stresses your body just enough, which makes it much easier to get sick for a short period of time.
  6. I would definitely be interested in going to the east side as it's much easier for me to drive to. Late April is a tricky time of year for me due to tests, but I'm sure most of the other members would have no problem making it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. If its with in 4 hours of me I think Id be interested in coming up to meet some members. We should make a get together sometime during the summer.
  8. Man those Island deer get huge. I gotta start hunting out there again
  9. I post all of the deer I take on this site. I don't see how anyone can ascertain whether or not the deer was legally taken or not from a picture most of the time. I do how ever avoid posting most pics on Facebook and Instagram. I learned my lesson back in 09 when I posted a pic of the 10 pointer I got and had quite a few of my friends raise their objections to it. I just don't care to have to deal with it, unless it was a monster buck. Sometimes ill post on snapchat, because those are mostly my close friends and none of them would complain. I will usually post pictures of fish, but I have refrained from posting because it might show some landmarks in the background. I've found way too many fishing spots that way to not realize it can compromise fishing spots.
  10. Looking good! I smoked some venison as well this year. Took a pic of how it looked cut up yesterday Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I would think modified is good for it, but I have extremely limited duck hunting experience.
  12. How far are you thinking of shooting? Maybe step it up to improved modified
  13. That might work against you though. I think once you go past full with steel it makes your patterns worse
  14. I feel you on that. I breasted my first duck because i figured I might mount it sometime, and then i got 2 min into plucking the geese before i breasted them.
  15. Were talking about feet here, so I would go and drag it onto the property im hunting. I wouldn't gut it on the other land though. Only time I wouldnt is if someone is hunting near there and I didnt want to mess his hunt up.
  16. I guess no one can beat that goal haha
  17. What are your hunting goals for 2018? Mine are to get a buck with a bow that's over 120", try to harvest new types of waterfowl (wood duck being at the top), try to harvest a bear and try to find a dedicated waterfowl hunting partner. I came close to hitting the first goal this year on a buck that went 130" but I was always a day or two late, so I'm confident in next year.
  18. Main targets: Deer, Turkey, waterfowl (just started) Things ill target every now and again: Rabbit, Coyote and very very rarely fox. I never happen to see either when im going after them Things Id like to hunt: Bear, elk, moose, grouse, pheasant, quail, chukar and a whole bunch of other upland birds. Hoping to get a bear next year and a maybe a grouse.
  19. Hopefully it works out this time. Id love to get a chance to hunt them. Even if I never get out for them, as a hunter I should support the cause. It seems a bit selfish as a hunter to be against a whole animal being hunted because I may happen to not see many.
  20. If the deer casted its antler right in front of me, I would shoot and have it glued back on, but if its broken I probably wouldn't.
  21. We have 45 mph winds here in queens already. Ill be staying in today, that's for sure.
