I don't really do much to be honest. About a week before my first time out, I go over what I want to put in my bag and make sure my knives are sharp. I'm usually too busy with school to devote much time to hunting before the season starts.

Welcome aboard! I've found that 99.99% of the people on here are good people that will offer up any knowledge they know. We all like to argue, but normally we can argue one moment and then offer advice to the same person the next day. None of us really have any bad blood towards each other.

Unfortunately Dana White has a vice grip on the fighters since there is no union or laws protecting them. They on average make less than 50,000 per fight. And that's nothing when your putting your life on the line for a fight. SO even when the UFC starts really pulling in big numbers, it won't help the fighters much. I also realized after watching this fight card that even the MMA undercards are more entertaining than a lot of the main event boxing matches. I think its the blend of different martial arts that makes it entertaining.

Unfortunately boxing is already dying and MMA is thriving right now. The only thing that is stopping MMA from growing even faster is that the fighters get payed nothing to fight compared to boxing. There's been a shift in interest from boxing to MMA. People more around my age are talking about MMA and not really boxing.

Now this is why I don't give Floyd credit for being 50-0. I respect his fight IQ, but he hasn't faced many contenders that are still in their prime.

One of the best improvements I've made is to make sure i'm up on time and be in the woods before dark. Also using trail cams to use my time efficiently. I know that there are certain times I'm more likely to see deer and I make sure Im there for that.

What do you use for a crossbow broadhead target
ATbuckhunter replied to Curmudgeon's topic in CrossBow Hunting
They have targets specifically for crossbows. I can't remember the name of the target i have, because they make a really good crossbow target. When I remember Ill let you know. -
I enjoy getting out to shoot. I only do it a couple times a year due to school, but its always fun.My favorite caliber is 30-06, but I don't have much experience with too many calibers.

I start getting the itch when the weather starts to cool down at night and i can start smelling the grapes i have growing by my house. Right now they're ripening early so every time I step in my backyard ans smell them, I get the itch.

I thought McGregor put on an amazing performance last night. He was counter punching very well in the first half and even towards the end (he was just too gassed to put anything behind these punches) and threw some nice jabs. I still think mcgregor is the better fighter since he fights top contender after top contender, moves up and down weight classes with no problem. Yes Mayweather moved up and down weight classes, but I believe it was all with in 10 pounds which is nothing to compare with mcgregor's 25 pound weight jump. He was going to lose no matter what, but I would have liked to see the fight go on a little further since it was Fatigue more than anything at the end. Now I don't respect mayweather at all, but I respect his fight IQ. There really isn't anyone better than him in that regard. But I also think his record is padded with a lot of nobody's or past prime fighters. I'm a pure MMA fan and don't really find boxing to be very entertaining, but it was a good fight. The whole thing about connor destroying mayweather in a real fight or an MMA fight is a pointless argument. Of course mayweather wouldn't last more than 2 min in an MMA fight with mcgregor, but how could you expect a 40 year old man to step out of his element? I mean id watch the fight, but no one is really calling for that. Time for Connor to go back to MMA and start kicking some butt again.

Happy Birthday! -
That ground is great for finding tracks. They must be spending majority of their time near the houses.

Did you scout the edge of the swamp?

Looks great! If you can find some old weathered planks from a barn I would put some of those together as a plaque. Maybe add some barbed wire to it, and if you have the casing of the round you took the deer with Id add it to that.

While I was reading this I was thinking it could be a blessing in disguise, but low and behold you also believe the same. Some of the most interesting hunting is when your learning a new piece of land.Hopefully all works out well!

Haven't checked my cams since I put them out on the 5th but last year I did get more pics than any other year. Looks like a slight up tick in the population in the area's I hunt. Ive never even seen one while hunting, so I would be interested in getting one this year.

If you really pay attention in history you'll see that the main split between the north and the south was economically driven. The more industrial north had more money than the more agricultural south. I believe slavery was kind of the final straw that kick started the war. I think I remember seeing something that said Abe Lincoln mentioned that if he could win the war with out giving up slavery he would have done it. I could be wrong about that one though.

ELMO.......................Happy Birthday !!!!

Happy Birthday buddy! Hope you have a great one -
That homework sounds annoying, but to be honest its just basic knowledge. I would be mad if i payed 30 bucks for a test that didnt actually do anything. One thing I just heard that can be done is take the PA hunters ed class online instead of the NY one that way you don't have to show up to a class in person.

Stealing and selling venison - caught in the act
ATbuckhunter replied to Curmudgeon's topic in Deer Processing
Ya that's why I said most and not all. I figured that people are busy and don't have the time to spend on it. All in all it shouldn't take more than 2 hours so we spend more time getting the deer than taking care of the meat afterwards. I encourage everyone to do it, but don't think less of anyone who doesnt. -
Stealing and selling venison - caught in the act
ATbuckhunter replied to Curmudgeon's topic in Deer Processing
Butchering a deer is such a simple process that I don't understand why most people don't. There are some great youtube videos that show everything you need to know. -
That is a matter of opinion! I have zero interest in discussing it since it has nothing to do with the topic we're discussing. The FACT is that Trump publicly criticized Obama for golfing and he is golfing even more than Obama did. Take it how ever you like, you can't get away from him being a hypocrite. Wow what a difference. My class took 2 whole days to complete and they went over many different aspects of hunting. All of the instructors cared a lot about it.

I don't think they recommend anyone under 60 pounds to use them. Might be okay in a crossbow though
