  1. Daughter works in pre/post opp. Since most elective surgery is cancelled ,not much to, do so they split into four groups . Week one she is home on call, week two home work on required annual course work, week three , work at hospital, week four , home work on obtaining certificates in various fields . They could easily put them all straight to work on floors , but they’re protecting groups of them for ,worst case .

    Beer

was outside doing yard work and such , this is where I toss my cans when in hot tub .
  3. Mrs Nomad did some shopping today too, she got the two liter Tanqueray Gin, a bottle of whiskey , and a bottle of wine for the youngest who’s coming home for week end . Little does she know I’ve got hid similar amounts . These are back ups in case liquor stores shut down .
  4. Im, guessing shed hunting is essential travel ? Because I’m going Tuesday .
  5. It took me years to find an old boys bike in good shape ! Girls ones are all over as they didn’t destroy them like us , in fact I rode an old girls one for years till I got this one . Its locked to the wall .
  6. No gym, I figured if inmates can be jacked , with body weigh exercises and some rudimentary equipment ,I can at least stay in the game . So today started my garage ,Corona Prison work outs ! Chins KB swings Mud buckets bent over rows ( KB )
  7. I think, that with many of these first time gun owners ,they saw their life go, from normal to disrupted in the blink of an eye . Out of work, everything closed , 58% of the population doesn’t have $1,000, shortages right off the get go, irrational behavior, by many , what some call and ah ha moment. Exactly ! Many are new gun owners ,who I welcome to, our ranks . They are also seeing just how “ gun control “ effects only the law abiding . Some states require firearm owner ID cards , ten day waits , all sorts of hurdles , when all they’ve heard was getting a gun was easier then buying a book .
  8. That’s a fake email , text. FB post that’s been going around for days now .
  9. In daughters yard daily , can’t really count them all , most neighbor counted at one time was 22, can’t wait to pull my camera card !

    Ammo

Idk, how many ammo shortages have we had in recent memory? Buy it cheap and stack it deep ! I was just in my gun room ,Looking for the one loaded large sized AR mag, that I hid .... Anyways took stock of my supply in the room , not all my stashes just what’s in plain sight . Four ammo cans of mostly 300 blk, and 9mm . One tool box of asst. ammo this doesn’t count what’s in gun safe ,one hidden ammo can of factory Hollow points ,and one can thats off site storage ( along with a gun .)
  11. Agree Al . While our shelves aren’t as loaded as in the past , I’d say we could eat 5-6 weeks , and the deer meat would last well beyond. The point is partly to buy on sale and stock up , that way , one it’s cheaper and two we never run out of things . I don’t need six bottles of Italian dressing at one time , yet I never go “ crap I wanted some to marinate some venison, and we’re out .” I simply go down stairs and grab one , get down to a couple ,then buy more . While our gardening is limited to box gardening , it can be rewarding just like providing meat through hunting . I do find it ironic that so many here plant “ gardens “ for the deer to eat , but none for themselves . Another point, someone laid off from work ,that has a month or two,of food at home ( or more ) , will surely find that comforting I’d imagine. Well off to walk the dog , then try to buy a bit more food for the shelves .
  12. Ok it’s yours , be advised the cat pukes on it quite often , gives it a nice three D effect . I don’t believe that’s her commenting on the rug , she just eats to much canned food sometimes .

    Beer

Still quarantined, but getting wrinkled ! Running low on Other Half , time to panic .
  14. Vanguard , rebalances quarterly . Currently more in bonds . Only use my planner Geo Conboy for my individual stocks . https://www.brightonsecurities.com/team/financial-advisors/george-t-conboy if you click the link, you may enjoy George’s videos !
  15. Hey that’s fine . I haven’t looked at my investments at all since this started , when dow was around 23 or 24 k I thought no big deal , now under 20 yikes . My differed comp is 100% in general fund paying around 4% which being my largest fund is actually returning a fairly large sum, my individual stocks I haven’t looked at ,letting them ride it out lol . Im blessed to have a pension that’s saving me . Wifes 401k is her largest fund , and 60 / 40 stocks bonds , to late at this point to reallocate I think , we haven’t drawn off anything yet . I’ve never tried to time the market as most get out low ,and wait to long to be sure when jumping back in on upswing , who knows though . Good luck .
  16. She’s Leaving it up year round , decorating it for the season , the red and pink was for Valentine’s Day, should be green for St. Patrick’s day, but I guess she’s slacking lol . That and no real storage for it . Kids....
  17. Daughters fiancé is a union hvac , guy he’s still working , they do schools ,malls, colleges , just did some shooting range , in Buffalo . For now, so, far so good , fingers crossed ! My thinking is while buildings are empty is the time to do work , but if they’ve cleaned everything ,do they want guys there working ? Daughter is a RN that works in pre / post opp , since all elective surgery is cancelled she’s unsure , for now still working , but not much going on , she can always go back to her old floor , but her shoulder is having an issue and picking up and turning Pts could be an issue . My response to them is this is why an emergency fund is the first thing you set up ,when you start working . The CPA in Buffalo is “ working from home .”
  18. I’ll be posting the beams for sale here soon. If you want a piece of barn wood , I’ll get you one. Here’s what I’m doing with a piece . Ignore the old basement throw rug...
  19. Thanks ! Nephew took down a large 200 year old barn on his property, he already sold most of it, was holding some for a guy who canceled the day before I texted him ! There’s still a fair amount there . He also has a pile of massive hand hued beams too , many make mantles out of them , he had a 70 footer running the ridge I guess , but couldn’t get it down in one piece . He has a pile of faded green ,rusted tin as well .
  20. Spent an hour rearranging this barn wood , that’s going to be a wall behind a bar in the basement, this is not the final layout . May use some old green tin for ceiling as well .
  21. Nextdoor neighbor said most he counted in yard across from daughter was 22 ! Anyways out with the old , in with the new , this mornings work .
  22. Can I ask what the balance of equities to fixed / bonds are ? What is the expected time horizon , to drawing from it ? The old rule has always been to hold your age in bonds , obviously everyone has different risk tolerances , and time horizons , that can move those numbers somewhat .

    Beer

Wifes friend up from Fla. her and son stopped by he gave me this Other Half . Thanks !
  24. If there was a teowawki event ,there would be no “ hunting “ every Tom ,dick, and Harry with a gun would be shooting deer, in parks, front yards ,your farm . It would be done daytime, nighttime , by any and all means .
