shooting with one or both open?
Nomad replied to rachunter's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Rt handed LT eye dominant here too , I was shooting left hand guns , but switched Rt awhile back . Last year I shot my buck with a RT hand gun , but I shot it left handed as I had to lean way out to the left to get an opening , no biggie . -
She closed last Thursday , so far I’ve swapped out the old smoke detectors, added a co , changed all the old bulbs to led in basement and garage , ran power, cable and hdmi to above the fireplace ,with a tv mount , cleaned the non finished part of basement and started to paint . Next finish painting basement , paint 5 or so closets , I bought all new deadbolts and knob locks , along with six inch striker plates which I’ll mortise in and use 4 inch screws to beef it up , then there’s an old set of shelves in basement that I’m tearing out, paint the walls and putting in new ones . Oh add GFI to bathrooms too . They want to redo the finished part, but I think if I paint walls and ceiling, cut off lower few inches of walls that have slight water damage in one Small area, put in a laminate floor and five inch baseboards , it should be fine for now . She wants to drop in a new counter top, backsplash, sink , and paint kitchen so I,think money should go,there first not basement . My plumber buddy Is out in South Dakota shooting pheasants, when he gets back , new slop sink , faucets, and shut offs in basement . Big thanks to,the Red Mafia aka the FD , her realtor , the electrician, plumber are all guys I worked with and well work for beer, well not the realtor . Ive met three neighbors and one gave me cookies !

We did the North branch of Big Salmon to the Yukon River to Carmacks . https://upnorthadventures.com/yukon-summer-adventures/self-guided-river-trips/yukon-river-options/ A rich historic river , but a boring paddle , flat slow wide river . Hard to find camp areas , either high grass or steep banks , some days we canoed till 11 at night ,then had to climb steep banks to set up camp . Whitehorse is the capital and most populated town , with at the time a population of 17k ! If you can find a guided trip of the territory,I’d say go ! one of the more memorable times was riding with Tony in his pick up to our starting point . He was a WW II vet, and retired truck driver for a gas company up there , a true gold mine of information and stories . He said the houses are built much better today ( late 80’s ) you hardly get ice on the inside walls anymore .....

Back in my younger days , The Yukon , BC, Quebec, Ontario and many others were where I canoed , Ill take some shots of my old pics and post tomorrow. Ive toyed with the idea of going on a remote river again ,there’s one River in the far reaches of the Yukon , The Blow river that they suspect has been canoed but ,not documented, that appeals to me ,the hardest part is the logistics. The Missinaibi River was my first river trip , one that claims a fair number of life’s it seems . https://paddling.com/paddle/trips/missinaibi-river-ontario-1/

I’ll take a guess Bob, many hunters are like myself , I’ve got two scoped hunting rifles in my safe , and I couldn’t tell you the maker much less any details about them . They came on the guns as a package ,and as long as I put the plus sign on the deer and it falls down , that’s all I need .

I typically have “ supplies “ at home particularly consumables , so events like these I’m already set . However I take one OTC med. a H2 blocker , I currently have about a months supply, thought there was another bottle of 250, but can’t find it, so the Mrs went to Walmart and I asked her to get some , this is the aisle . -

Ha a couple days ago two of my former work crew, were sprayed in the mouth with vomit while on a CPR run , they were suctioning out the airway when it happened . I sent them a text to just drink some Jack and they’ll be fine ! -

Stores in some parts of the country are out of TP and bottled water , whiskey is still in stock , although the Mrs suggested we stock up on beer in case of quarantines, and I’m not kidding . -

I was named , “ The Ironman “ by my classmates at the academy, that too had nothing to do with attendance. We had to do daily “ death marches “ on air ,Stairs , obstacle course , and so on till only one guy had air left , which was always me . Today I’m closer to The Tin Man . -

In my 28 years I got “ Ironman letters “ ( no sick time ) about 3/4 of the years . The FD has by far the lowest sick day use of all city depts. I feel that’s largely due to the fact we can swap shifts , working on a Sat. and a wedding comes up ? simply do a work substitution . That and you have to be home during your shift if sick, and they do sometimes check. Out more then three days , you have to get a back to work slip from the dept DR. -

I heard one sign is triple posting ..... BTW , signs you can see ,like coughing , symptoms you can’t like a fever . The classic explanation is, nausea is a symptom, vomit is a sign . -

Some interesting information on morbidity and mortality accuracies . https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK547668/ -
The right was much bigger body wise . The left has more evenly matched sides for those that like that , but the Rt side beam is bent inward . Side by side I’d shoot the RT much bigger body .

I’m not a big chocolate beer guy, but this one is a bit understated, but still not one I’m drinking all night ! oh btw I used to stop there , on the way home from visiting my Mom at assisted living in Chili .

Second beer tonight . Rohrbach , House of Silent Shadows, kinda tastes like an Almond Joy bar , which going against the grain here , I enjoy !
