Enjoy ! Last time I was in A Bay was the early ‘80s Forth of July , it was a destination for bikers . You couldn’t drive a car down the streets ,they were packed with bikes and crowds of people . This was before the “ rubs.” We rode up with our helmets hanging off the sides of our bikes filled with ice and beer .... and still stopped at every bar , and Oswego has tons of bars ! It was pretty crazy then , fights all, over, the cops “ tuned up “ my buddy’s Harley with their night sticks . He used to have the front page of the Watertown newspaper, headline “bikers take over town ! “ Makes me want to buy a rat bobber and take off across country : )

Now that Kathy switched jobs at the hospital, no nights, every week end and one day mid week off, I’m hoping to get her out a bit more . When I was working our two weird schedules never lined up , last year was ok , but nights killed her and needed a day or two after to rest up, so, still opportunities to go we’re few . encouraging to hear about those loads . Mounting a rail and red dot on it soon , when she got scoped, she wouldn’t shoot it again, preferred her slug gun with open sights , would take the kick over fear of scope . Once I mount the red dot forward ,should be sweet . Her shots should be pretty much bow range anyway .

Not to long ago, I never heard of 7m08 . Now my daughter and I each own a Savage 7m08 , I absolutely love that caliber. My .270 I bought when we went rifle just sits . Every deer myself or Kathy shot with them ,DRT of course The distances were 10-40 yards . TF I bought some reduced recoil loads for Kathy to try this year, to make it even softer , research shows it’s still a good deer killer , we’ll see .

Had to look that up , I’d say light heavyweight, 175 . But 182 would work for now . Just easier to move in every fashion .Two buddies each dropped 50 plus pounds, tall guys 6’2” and 6’4” , they look better ,feel better , no, longer take RX meds .

30 some years I’ve walked farm field edges to get to my spots. Now I may be a bit unconventional but I go in as I can start to see , and glass as I go . If I spot them first I either duck into the woods and walk that edge , change my route , back out and go to another stand ,wait them out , just wing it . For me the odds that some deer out in the field will end up going by where I’m headed ,isn’t that much of a concern. If they’re flatheads , I don’t really care at all what they do . Gman , for years I walked in, in the middle of the field as well, my thought was, I didn’t want to leave my scent line along the edge of the woods . Deer always stop at the wood line before stepping in and I didn’t want my scent there . I figured out in the middle they wouldn’t know where I was and might run to the woods . Just an uneducated guess .

This one The other night . My humidors are getting low, placed an order with JR they should arrive shortly . When I was working I smoked every night in the watch room ,so 7-8 a month . Retired , one or two a week .

Took my course idk 45 years ago, hope, they keep good records ..... Luck has it I have a friend who works the Marine Unit for the Sheriffs dept. and teaches those classes ( he taught my daughter as well as driving her to the class ) so, either I get a new card , or I simply take my chances . Can you see every boat owner, their wife, and kids all needing the course at once ? Ha it’ll be harder then finding a hunting course in Oct . edit by 2025, I either won’t be boating anymore or, out of this state .

Ah those days were long passed. Building inspections , hydrant inspections, school programs , vacant house program ( inspecting and classifying them as to danger ) smoke detector program ( knocking on every door and making sure they got them ) , more mandated training then some specialty companies could keep,up,with , annual CPR, Blood Bourne pathogen, work place violence , sexual harassment , diversity training . Emt training , quarterly tests on said training , annual haz mat training ( 3 days) . 8-10 bs calls a shift . Made it hard to finish a cigar at one sit . -

You boys are a little late to the game , here’s mine on my head in an overnight camp along the Yukon River circa 1,987 . Plus a couple shots I just took in the basement . -
When I worked days, ( alternate D/N) I would hit the gym around 6AM, get to firehouse 7:15 - 7;30 , but I could shower there at work on work time . It worked for me .

Haven’t been to land in a couple months, my cameras, I’m not sure where I put them anyways, haven’t shot bow since idk June ?, haven’t bought license . Once we get deep into Sept. and nights start to cool , pool is closed and boat put away , I’ll switch to hunting mode . Plus there’s to much meat still in freezer .

When someone says, “ I don’t allow hunting “ that’s your Golden opportunity! You explain to them , you’d bet there are in fact hunters on there now , doing who knows what , building stands, cutting trees and so forth , but you the responsible one will keep those guys off and respect the land and owners wishes . Have references they can call and so on , dress nice ,leave your Jack Daniels T shirt home , along with your loud truck . I knew a guy who, got and still gets access to great farmland ,by being the guy to keep, others off, post it remove old wood stands etc . He offers to be the bad guy on the landowners behalf , in exchange for hunting it . In the past I got access to two, great spots , that nobody could, get permission for ,one is owed by a guy who’s known as a whack job , a guy who takes a chain saw to any tree he finds a stand in , after our first talk I just left . Later I returned to tell him I’d be parked nearby as I’d be hunting the adjacent land and didn’t want him to think I was trespassing on his , he replied with , “ don’t you want to hunt my land ? “ I was treated like gold and even allowed to,use his atv . The other guy said his buddies hunted it for years , but stopped when he asked them to,sign a release , that stared an argument between them , I said where do,I sign ? This was a guy who everyone feared even stepping one foot on his land . No doesn’t always mean no , if you can find the right approach .
