We had to rescue a few folks , who were inside a storm tunnel that runs into the Genesee river gorge . Heavy rains caused it to flood and they got trapped, the miracle was that their cell phone worked in there . In my opinion as much as I dislike it go fund me may be your best bet . Benefits are nice , but unless your inviting heavy hitters it’s often hard to come out to far ahead . I say this as my FD and Union puts on all kinds ,lots of work to clear two three grand maybe , on the golf outings and such . Our retirement party’s are at the union hall ($300) , still it’s $30 a man to,cover food and beer, we hit each person up for 50/50 ( most donate winnngs back ) and raffles , it’s $20 for 50/50 and $20 for raffle . My retirement party id guess 120 plus attended, and we pretty much broke even . We did rent tents ,tables and chairs for outside as it was summer, that added a bit to cost . I know a guy who,puts on a benefit for a police dept . $500 a plate plus extras, but he can fill it with a couple hundred heavy hitters . If you do a benefit,know it’s a lot of work,try to get as much donated as you can and you have to really hit folks up who attend ,they should drop at least a hundred to make it worth while . Ive worked on police /fire bowling tournament ( for School of The Holy Childhood ) ,fishing tournament for Make a Wish,, and a Golf one ,lots of work . Good luck.

When I first used Waze, I got the “ object on road ahead “ alert, about 30 seconds later there was a guy loading a ladder back onto his truck. Now that’s real time alerts ! The “ police ahead “ I’ve found far less reliable , once on the thruway it showed a cop at every over pass, when there was none at all . Im of the belief that the Troopers, drop their own pins as they drive around ,to throw it all off. As well as move more often . Overall I like it .

One platform I’ve never owned, but perhaps should have .

See this is a good example of why trained folks and AEDs are a good idea for most locations, gyms and athletic areas in particular . A older person with a heart history ,seldom is brought back particularly when it’s not witnessed , or CRP started right away . A relatively young ,heathly person ,where it’s witnessed and CRP is started right away along with early defibrillation ( if there’s a shockable rhythm) they have a chance . Calling 911 and standing around waiting seldom leads to a successful outcome no matter the age / health of pt. I’ve gone on Id guess a couple hundred CPR calls with only a handful of saves . Be you’re own first responder . Again nice job, not only that night but having the wisdom to be prepared for that night .

I wish I could be half that man. My Father too was a WWII vet . He came home after his brother and two young uncles were KIA within a couple weeks.

Don’t know what a long tail is, but he is a very good water fowler . Years back he took me Sept goose hunting for my first time , the first goose I shot was double banded ,which I guess from his reaction is a big deal . Asked if I was going to get it mounted , why the F would I mount a goose , I believe was my reply .

For ,many years I’ve been into “ tactical knives “ . But each hunting season I’m drawn to carry a more traditional knife as my daily carry ,just feels right ,often my Case Trapper . I recently bought two Case Mini Copperlocks , one as a gift to the guy who lets me store my boat in his factory , and the one other for myself Well I’ve been carrying it a lot , sometimes with another like this Spyderco Yojimbo , but often as a stand alone knife . I’m just going more and more into traditional knives .

For the first time , the DEC biologists went to my current processors ,to age deer, record tag numbers and so on. This is how they obtain known kills to figure reporting rates. The processor was telling every one to report their kills, as the dec had the info . So IF the dec increased their visits all around ,I could see an increase in reporting .

My processor was swamped, just lines of deer and looked like 8-10 working on them ( good thing I go to the head of the line .)

Name it after your wife . Then you can say things like “ Susie just crapped on the floor” or “Susie smells” or is licking herself . Its great fun really .
