  1. Heck didn’t know I could just ask ! All those early mornings and cold sits for nothing ! Plus about 1,500 miles on the truck .
  2. Both daughters played BB in Webster, one through varsity. Look into WBA, run through parks and rec. also CYO I coached at St Rita’s and both mine played in it . The Y has leagues too .
  3. Ya two main issues , one if the blade is not centered side to side you get different angles on each side. Then you also get different bevel angles from the ricasso to the tip .
  4. Spyderco sticks , Smith ( lansky type ), and a small brand clamp on type ( not like the lansky ) . The last one is great for reprofiling . Most quality brands will restore the factory edge for free or like five bucks . As Moog said don’t let them get dull, quick touch ups are fast and easy .
  5. I always offer new BF a chance to,handle a handgun, after which I’d carefully place it in a ziplock bag, and say “ now your finger prints are on it .” my two , the one is a Halloween costume.
  6. I wasn’t clear, I went with a jewelry insurer for our jewelry, not guns they don’t do guns . jewelers mutual .
  7. Most homeowners cover up,to $1,000 to $2,500 in Guns and related equipment , after that you need a rider and an appraisal for each gun, same for art or jewelry. It also doesn’t cover all perils , drop your duck gun in the lake you’re sol , mysterious disappearance your sol . homeowners are very restrictive. I went with a company specializing in jewelry as it was cheaper then a rider and no appraisal.
  8. Had lunch with another retired FF today, he hunts a 10 acre field in a west side suburb . One tree he can hang a stand in( along neighboring woods, this tree is out a bit onto his spot ), he has trail cam pics of up to 60 deer at once in that field ! No,food plots no crops but herds travel though . I suspect he could fill every tag and then some and still be over run .
  9. Ya I’ve a box Wii and a box full of accessories in the basement. I know as soon as I get rid of it,my adult kids off on their own will complain I did ......
  10. Two different polices ,what I suspect your friend had was one covering his defense if charged in what turns out to be a legal use . It was through a policy through the NRA, that covered your defense in the lawful use of your gun in self defense. If you were charged ,You paid upfront if you were found not guilty they reimbursed you . Cuomo put an end to that through the courts . This insurance pays anyone injured by you ....... Its all about barriers to gun ownership , that’s all .
  11. Another reminder that someone knows exactly where you’ll be . Wife has google earth pic of my spot with all stands numbered ,and knows which one I’m in .
  12. Yep had plenty around me .
  13. I liked the old postcard system, for you youngsters , when you filled out your paper harvest tag,you filled out a second prepaid postcard one. Get home stick in mailbox.
  14. I’m in for $2, and I’ll cover Pygmy’s as well . Now it’s not going to be like those fisherman’s rulers is it ?
  15. Ya but he’s called perhaps 9 times in 7 years , so about once a year . If he says he heard an early shot or thought he was baiting or whatever , it seems to,me that would be some stretch to rule that hunter harassment in court . Its my belief that it would take either direct interruption of his hunt by the caller , or multiple calls in a short period of time that could be proved unwarranted , and solely to disrupt the hunt . Hey I’ve been wrong before ,but about one call a year, and no,personal contact between hunter and caller ,I think it seems unlikely , no,matter how I may feel personally about it .
  16. Great job ! Enjoyed hearing that .
  17. “ I wonder if DEC keeps track of who calls. I imagine there are several people that have to deal with this sort of thing. At some point I would think they would have to tell them to stop crying wolf and you are not doing anything wrong.” Little chance of that. Good friends of ours lived nextdoor to a wacko , he called the Sheriffs on them dozens of times. Like if when they cut their lawn any clippings ended up,on his lawn . The Deputy would apologize to,them but said they had to respond to complaints . When I worked for the FD I testified before the Grand Jury twice against guys falsely reporting an incident ( felony ) , but they were reporting building fires when there was none. It took them reporting multiple times, to even start an investigation. I would think this guy calling about once a year, all they may do is talk to him explain the hunter over 500 feet or whatever .
  18. § 2353. FIREARM OWNERS INSURANCE POLICIES. 1. ANY PERSON IN THIS STATE WHO SHALL OWN A FIREARM SHALL, PRIOR TO SUCH OWNERSHIP, OBTAIN AND CONTINUOUSLY MAINTAIN A POLICY OF LIABILITY INSURANCE IN AN AMOUNT NOT LESS THAN ONE MILLION DOLLARS SPECIFICALLY COVERING ANY DAMAGES RESULTING FROM ANY NEGLIGENT OR WILLFUL ACTS INVOLVING THE USE OF SUCH FIREARM WHILE IT IS OWNED BY SUCH PERSON. FAILURE TO MAINTAIN SUCH INSURANCE SHALL RESULT IN THE IMMEDIATE REVOCATION OF SUCH OWNER’S REGISTRATION, LICENSE AND ANY OTHER PRIVILEGE TO OWN SUCH FIREARM. its getting to the point I’d consider selling all my guns they can trace and just stocking up from other sources .
  19. but dear God is this Jesus's way of telling me i am fat and need to go to the gym more? Edited 59 minutes ago by CapDistPatriot No offense but yes . My drags tend to run an hour and a half, I turned down an offer of a ATV for my buck , zero soreness next day . I consider the drag an almost essential part of the hunt . I did have a guy from behind me come with his ATV for my doe, as the ditch was flooded in the front and to drag it around would mean crossing on to a crop field owned by a person I did not have permission to cross . After that I secured permission , so I can drag out my normal route more or less .
  20. Metal and plastic ammo cans, and a large tool box . Handgun ammo I buy by the ammo can ,rifle I like a few boxes for each rifle, shotgun , many boxes of slugs and 00, a bit of hunting ammo .
  21. Sorry to hear, hope it’s a one time deal ,best of luck . Larry
  22. I’m right with you , up,until the V+T stop, there is no way I’ll ever submit to a warrantless search of my,property . You looking for a missing/Kidnaped kid, sure have a look officer , just a fishing expedition go pound salt . Having nothing to hide is not the way it’s supposed to work in America .
  23. Correct and students as well , this year they aged my buck at 3 1/2 , they punch the tag to show . Myself nothing but great realtonships with DEC Poilce , one pulled in just after I loaded my buck in the truck last Sunday. Great guy, asked how we did ,I open cover on bed showed him buck, he looked briefly at tag, never asked my name or to see lic. Later I saw I never wrote zone on tag, he said nothing about that . Once he learned that the guy with me was from the family that owns thousand of acres , it became talk of the area and things going on . He commented that he’s seen my truck here a lot ( could be a ruse so guys think he’s always around ) I told him stop by anytime ,Park here if he wants . The last guy ,before he got promoted ,we met up most years to talk about things. Love having their trucks on my spot ,locals notice fast .
  24. Idk I’ve hit a couple deer with my cars and had a ton of close calls , I’d rather travel,to,hunt them, and not have to dodge them on the highway here.
