It’s a piece of mind thing . When I work nights I leave at 3:30 PM and return around 9:00 AM, power goes out it kicks on and runs whole house. There is no way my wife would lug out some gas powered generator and pull start it and keep it fueled . As far as projects why would I need a generator around my home to do them ? then again I pay guys to,do my projects anyway .

Ha ,nobody has ever been able to define “ upstate”. You can call it whatever you want .

What in the Wild World of Sports are you talking about ??? Everybody shoots on their land , I have a range on my farmland as does everyone around me . One time when we were shooting an AK47 with bump stock, someone called farmer who rents my land ,but that was it .

I agree with all of this , I would much prefer to,use my compound, it’s just lighter ,more mobile . I’ve kept in “shape,” I can deadlift for reps 100 pounds over my weight , bang out some chin ups , use the stair machine with a 45 pound weight vest , work with 80 pounds of gear on . But my shoulders can’t draw a bow anymore , heck they hurt putting on and taking off a coat , I wish it was just a matter of keeping in shape.

That’s very nice of bugsnbows ! I use my iPhone , but point and shoot cameras are better for zooming, low light and storage and battery life of your phone, if you take a lot of pics and videos a P/S will save your phone battery. My daughter when she hikes out West or eco trips in places like Coasta RICO , has a big slr for short hikes and trips, or when the destination is really picturesque, a p/s for long hikes, phone is saved for phone use . phone cameras are kinda like a Tasco scope .

I like both xbows and fannypacks ! But my fanny pack holds a Glock . I had no use for a xbow, till my 29th year of bow hunting and all the sudden I could not draw my compound anymore , spent about a grand on one, which was more then I spent on compounds in those 29 years.

My thoughts as well . It easier to build one in the open hardwoods, but dragging the lumber to this spot took effort , heck I don’t want to carry in a ladder stand !

Agree, Now is when it’s easiest to see sign. Also I’ve noticed on my spot old wooden stands I find tend to be in good spots . I try to stay out of my thick stuff, but this time of year I walk it, there is an area I’d like to, hang a stand but access is difficult and it’s pretty darn thick. I find a spot and think this looks promising, if I could trim some lanes this could be what I’ve been looking for ,then I realize a few yards away are a few old green 2x4s at the bottom of a tree , all that was left of a stand from many years ago .

Power is out in an area, off the east Main st. Just went for a TV set, on fire due to a candle placed on it .Poweroutages , as well as it coming back on always brings fires. Be smart.

We think alike. High winds, I bring in garbage tote, park away from trees, charge up everything . Im at work now, lots of wires , trees, transformers , down. Then my favorite, we go for one of those, block off the area with yellow caution tape, notify RGE, talk to caller. Then a neighbor comes home sees the yellow tape and calls the same thing in . Last one wanted to know if she could let her dog out in the back yard, I said “ sure, you can , he ,might get electrocuted though .”

Ya I’m down for three of those , I’d give up caffeine, movies and I’d eat a Tide pod . Just eat the pod in the emergency room, just in case . Maybe even give up,voting , it’s mostly a moot point anyway for me living in NY . oh and Game of Thrones, since I’ve never watched it once, not sure I can “ give it up .”

That’s become pretty much a regular at the local,stores shelves , which I like , but the $16 a four pack grinds my gears. Sure I may only have two at a time at $8 , but I struggle with the price , guess my wife has rubbed off on me after 30 years . I brought her home a growler of Genny Light tonight right form the source , I had Gennys Scotch Ale .

That right there is the issue and solution . If all the slutty girls in high school would , hook up,with the “weird kids” , loners , and social outcasts, school shootings would drop dramatically. ” Use your couter, stop a shooter ! “ You’re welcome .

I was out once, last week, still a ton of snow along the hedgerows I’ve had good luck,on before . I’ll be put next week a time or two .

Thanks everyone , I’ve been blessed , I dropped out of college twice, don’t have the skills to be a tradesman , but I’m dumb enough and strong enough , to not only do stupid stuff, but try to beat others to,it . Its certainly bitter sweet, I’ve postponed it before ,, but now it feels right, there are 5 LTs and Capts leaving in May, my era has passed . The union meetings , the Christmas party’s, last day in trips to the bar , camping trips ,canoeing , family Easter egg hunts, cook outs , weddings and funerals, hunting with each other , fishing tournaments , trips to,water parks ,we always did stuff together , that I will miss . We have baseball teams, hockey teams , a bow league ,bowling , there is so much to do , when you get this job . My wife is concerned I’ll miss all that, and I will, but it’s time . Again , Thanks

Wow ! thanks guys ! You’re right , I’ve seen many “old “ guys try to leave a final mark, at one of their last fires ,which I get , im hoping for a raging holy sh!t that was crazy Fire . Ive been blessed with a great career , a wife who,didn’t mind my second family and me working nights ,weekends and holidays, and those calls from the emergency room at 3 AM. But my hero’s are the Military!

After 28 years as a firefighter and Lt for the City of Rochester , I’m calling it quits ! What a struggle , I still love suiting up for the game , but its taken a tole on my body and my wife is older and retired , she smoked for 40 years ( quit two years ago ) its time to travel and do things while we can I guess. I love being the old crusty guy teaching the young snot face kids ,still Iove being the first guy through the door, but I just don’t move like I used to , it’s time to leave while I’m still “ whole “ , if carpel tunnel , two bad shoulders, arthritis,bad hip ,and nerve damage means “whole “, but I still got my looks !
