  1. So,the youngest is auditing part of Hobart/ William smith collage , and will be there several weeks . We plan on visiting her once a week and going out to eat. Any ideas ? Doesn't have to be the best steak house ( although I'll go there too ) best burger joint, family restaurant and so forth would help. Thanks
  2. Good for him good . Nurse practitioner is a good gig , everyone tells my daughter ( (RN at Strong , suma cum laude UB ) to become one but she's done with school she says. Strong is pushing her to be a nurse manager , no way she says , way more hours , on call and so forth just not worth it .
  3. Wtf if have a great tan but really wanted to add to it today and what a dragon tries to eat the sun or something . I had on my Muli Jim sunglasses and just watched it trough the clouds worked fine .
  4. Ya I like it here , as most say about where they live ..., nice lakes ok mountains ( nothing like out West) the cost of living , taxes and politics suck big time, as does winters . I can't imagine old folks trying to live here in the winter where a slip on ice to the mail box can and is fatal . My sister pays 20k a year in property taxes , her son in Tenn. who has a bigger house pays 2k , I tell her she would save 18k a year just by moving 800 miles . The Mrs is retried and I'm done next May, she wants to move for good, with the kids here I plan on keeping some roots , but if one is going to winter in a free state might as well make it 6 months plus a day to make your residence in a state with no income tax and your property tax is like $800 a year . oh and no snow is nice as well. If for some reason I felt the need to hunt NY I can come back for a week and kill 3 or 4 and call it a season , and head back to 75 degrees . I'll read about your hunting from my deck, in shorts and a tank top . Cheers !
  5. I'm happy the left is focusing on statues that most never even knew about , it's way better then them working towards something that would effect my life .
  6. Take what you know from golf and apply it to bow. Follow through , consistent form, mental game, it's the first shot, that matters . ive also found that where you find old stands are generally good spots . There are old stands on my spot , now nothing but a few rotted 2x4s are on great spots 30 years later ... its not what you see now, but in the season that counts .
  7. Conventional wisdom was that one could take 4-7 % a year off your investment with little worry of dipping into principal . Today that's been lowered to 4-5 % . So 40-50k per million , I can't live very well on that . What would I'd do, well at the press conference , just to show I have not changed , I'd offer 50K to a certin local reporter to show me her boobs..... The real, issue for most is lump, sum or payments . If your first thought is all the cool stuff you'll buy and the parties , the answer is simple you better take the 20 years of payments as you end up broke ( like 70 some % do) at least you'll have some money for 20 years by taking payments . Lump sum is 50% minus taxes so on 300 million , 150 about half to taxes so 75 . id get a moderate house on Canandaigua Lake and another in most likely FLA to avoid state taxes ( live there a bit over half a year) . Unfortunately living in NY when you buy the ticket you're on the hook for the taxes till you move , my plan was to move before collecting but it doesn't work that way . of course al,the normal stuff set up trusts, llc, . Estate planning . Most into Vanguard indexes , some land , I'd also stash cash and gold and buy art work and jewels , that's a way some families have transferred wealth for generations . Sometimes completely off the radar. Id get another Rolex most likely a Yatchmaster II in two tone ( gold /SS ) . And of course two chicks ..... I'm not paying them for sex, I'm paying them to,leave after ! I'd drive nothing but POS beaters and park next to Mercades and Audi's and open my doors into them .
  8. I've seen retired guys from my FD wear t shirts that say, " I miss the clowns , but not the circus ."
  9. As I look back in life I'd say not serving is my biggest regret . Here's my great uncle , Navy WW I and WW II , my Dad was in WW II and his brother and two young uncles were KIA.

But do you have legs like that ?!
  11. Worn out Firestones work for me ! Only have to be pulled out once in awhile ... Keep moving stop on high ground . If that fails I'll pull tags walk down street and buy another car no biggie . Today was over grown so I did not know it was soupy . ill clean it up at work tomorrow , really ill have the rookie do,it for me . Rank has its privilege as they say !
  12. Ya I have no,idea what an animal it is, heck I can't ID most in the woods I hunt what's that got to,do with it ? Animal ID is not my thing , the pix just looks fake to me , perhaps I'm wrong . Now if it was watch , I could tell you if if was Audemars Piquet or Patek Phillippe .

Went to the woods today for the first time to hang cams and check stand sites , my God why anyone would be in the woods this time of year is beyond me. Hot, thick ,over grown , wet and buggy and I had on long pants for the first time in weeks ? Months ? Back home no shirt no shoes , cold beer.
  16. Because they were already out ? The pulsable explanation would be this . The car with the two folks out and taking pictures, stop to take a picture of some random thing along the road ,as they do this an approaching car with a dash camera is driving towards them, then this deer / stag/ elk thing jumps across the road between them . The pics still look fishy to me, but the dash cam would explain having multiple shots .
  17. That's a good point, those Russian driving / crashing/ fighting videos off dash cams are good entertainment ! Two,guys I work with have dash cams and I want to get one as well , that would explain it being captured mid air and multiple times . Maybe it is real .
  18. That picture first showed up on the net April 3, here's another I found . Now this one I even more sure has been doctored . This one is real its off one of my cams.
  19. First thought is those are fake pics. Just looks fake, then what you just happen to have two sets of people already stopped and out of their cars taking pictures ? Doesn't pass the smell test .
  20. It is a mental game . Myself the first shot in practice had better be on as that's the only one you get at a deer. There's no "walking the arrows in" or correcting shooting in the deer woods, which is where I'm off to now ! Oh and nice shooting .
  21. Ha there's one in the trunk of our daughters old Civic, as they are prime targets for stealing . But I don't think she's ever used it, in fact it may work out to the best if it is stolen . It didn't take long to,learn how to defeate the Club, ( cut steering wheel, with bolt cutters ) and slide it off .
  22. Well my job allows me to hunt 21 or 22 days a month without taking any time off , so,I do have that going for me .
  23. Day out on Canandaigua Lake, that's my BIL place. Came home wife went out to eat with a friend , so I shined up the Buick put on my best flip flops and went to the Bayside Pub, shrimp cocktail, steak sandwiches and two Sam Summer Ale !
  24. I assure you the second set of shots I stood straight and dropped the bow arm the body does tend to bend with it but I fought that ,it was a very unnerving feeling too. To be clear I've been drawing straight and bending at the waist for many years now , just never heard about it in my beginning years. Although id like to video this so I can be see it myself. Bottom line , bend at the waist , it feels way more solid and stable . Did not clean gutters I pay a guy $60 to do that , because it needs that during bow season , and if I am going to be in the air it's going to,be in a tree .
  25. In the name of science and huntingny.com I canceled going out on Canandaigua Lake to conduct this experiment , well truth be told the old lady had her DR. Appt days mixed up . Look I get it anyone can post any sort of stage pics. So maybe one day Moog can stop by and video this. Measured height 14 feet at foot level ( see orange tape on ground ) distance 18 yards . These were my first shots since killing my buck early Nov. my shoulder was hurting a lot ( benched an hour before ) First three arrows bend at waist all a couple inches high, second three drop bow hand and it felt weird to be honest two arrows were better then bend at waist . You'll notice as well the orange fletch in the drop bow arm is off a bit I messed up the shot almost sending it who knows where . Also two, different arrows and fletching two are three inch three fletch one is four four inch as well as differant brands of arrows . ill be happy to have anyone video me repeating this, till then fire away I got my big boy pants on today !
