Honestly I feel it's mostly misinformation and jealousy . Nuisance tags account for about 2% of the deer take, over all that's not effecting everyone's hunting to a large degree . The farm I hunt gets DMAPs , about 25 for 3,000 acres so,less then one for each 100 acres, and each Hunter can only use two of them , so guess what ?they get passed out amoung a dozen or more hunters . Each guy gets one , if he fills it he can come get his second one . The few times the farm got actual nuisance tags, it was a handful for that 3,000 acres . It's not like some small 300 acre farm gets 20 nuisance tags, at least where I hunt and own land .

The lake one I realize that there is rock out past her, the triple falls one I don't see a safe approach to getting there , maybe I'm just old .

The like to take pics " near" edges ...... The oldest was in Glacier National Park when this happened.

The 15,000 is combined Dmaps ( 9,134) and DDMP (5,688) . So the nuisance tags account for 1/3 of that number. The total number accounts for 7% of the deer take, bad weather on opening week end has a bigger effect on deer take . As I have said prior on here we get a couple dozen dmaps, but then many of us don't then apply for doe tags, leaving them for others , I also can give dmaps to friends I bring who may not have a tag for my area . Where's the down side ?

Our numbers are dropping , the average age of a hunter is late 40's and trending higher . Access to land is shrinking daily . 100 years ? IDK how many quilting bees do we have today ?

I can see that . Most of my bow buck kills are bucks either flat out chasing or on a hot scent , some comimg into a fight and they just don't pay attention to anything I do .

My little block is about 80 acres , maybe 50 which can be hunted the rest farmland . I have about ten stands could have more but I'm lazy and frankly can kill decent bucks out of two of them any year . I do next to no prep and find hanging and moving stands a pain,which is why I have not hung or moved the ones I need to yet .

Big fan of this guy, I have his book Infinate Intensity . I should still have my copy if you want to borrow it has all kinds of high intensity interval work outs , check out some of his videos online . http://rosstraining.com/blog/2017/06/26/varying-training-intensity/ The Crossfit wods, I followed two days behind, the reason was let's say on one day I may do some chin ups as an extra to the wod, then find out he next day's workout had 100 chin ups . When they became a fad all the old workouts like , Three bars of death, we're not thrown in much, and I did my own thing . three bars of death is bench, deads and cleans , 10,9,8,7,6 5,4,3,2,1 , 10 bench 10 deads 10 cleans and so on as fast as possible down to one rep no rest . That'll leave you dripping sweat and your heart pounding . Many confuse this whole " cardio" thing believing it's running , biking, swimming and so on. Great met con workouts involve weights . Damn now I wish my shoulders weren't shot !

Way before most heard of crossfit I was lugging my own kettle bells, homemade wall ball and weight vest to the " box" gym and doing their W. O.D that was posted online . People sure stared at the old guy doing burpies, box jumps on their flat benches, Turkish get up and so on . Great H.I.T workouts that paid off . We gotta go,out training now , post more in a bit

Winner winner ! Sea food fra Diablo dinner !!! The owner who looks just like Homer Simpson , runs that place like a air traffic controller ! wanted a fish fry, then thought about a patty melt , but this is always a winner .

Last night , the food truck rodeo at the high school had to long of lines, fish fry at Baysiders , an hour wait at 7:00, ended up at our favorite family restaurant got my fav. $16 dollar meal .

Well starting a thread calling this , " not a very nice place " isnt much of a bridge builder ...... personally I think it's a great place , met a bunch of great guys all willing to help,out and share . Hunted with some, broke bread with others . cant help, with cam pics , don't have any out yet, no new goals , don't do bait I mean food plots ( ok,that was to ruffle feathers ) haven't thought about shooting my bow . But I wish you well this season .

We always went to Duffs when visiting our kids a UB. I have my daughters Civic here as she took,our car back to Buffalo , so I could have my buddy do her brakes . Need to swap,them sometime in the next week, wife wants to,make " a day of it and hit the falls" , I'd settle,for Duffs and Big Ditch, opps I forgot passports honey ...... Biz gotta get that beer for our daughter who marches in the Meramaid Parade each year .

Few years back I'm walking my Beagle on the Hojack trail in Webster, he's on a 6 foot leash . I have some expanding trekking pole I'm trying out and a .38 snub in my coat pocket . Up ahead I see a dog being walked ,off leash running all around . Then they go into the woods. We get up,there and I hear a dog running and barking , he's coming right to us , I pull my dog in close , as the other dog gets close I raise the pole over head yell and stomp my foot . That seems to work as the dog stops then comes in sniffing my dog . Then he goes for my dogs neck ( the other dog is some sort of pitbull ) , the pole comes down across his eyes/ snout, and breaks in half .... the dog stops and were in some sort of Mexican stand off, but now what ? My pole is broke, so,out comes the gun I'm pointing it finger on trigger ready to shoot if it comes in again . Now this whole time the owner is watching but never made an attempt to call his dog or come after it, till that silver snub came out, now he's concerned , and calls his dog , who then returns to,the owner . Now I did not want to,shoot anyone's dog, and on a hiking / biking trail with houses a few hundred feet away , but I would have , yet glad I didn't have to . Few days later at the gym I ran into a friend who's Sgt on the town PD, he simply said , " why didn't you just shoot it ?"

Thanks fellas ! Out of likes right now . I would not have done a post of Moms passing, but I was so,impressed with our oldest daughter she was my rock ! The youngest is on the pacific coast right now ,hiking, skydiving and general carrying on . Hum you have your parents watch your kids and they let them put grape pop on their cereal ...... Who knew ?

Well last night my Mother passed away . This was expected and most of last two days were largely spent at the nursing home with her . Now Kathy is an RN and two days ago we met at the home after she got off nights ,she got there first and stayed longer .... Nobody on staff could get Mom to eat, Kathy however was able to . Yesterday when my wife and I arrived my Mom was heavily sedated and basically unresponsive , I walked into her room to find Kathy sitting on the bed holding her hand, rubbing her arms and talking to her , I pretty much broke down right then . Today I see her post on Instagram and cried once more . I thought I'd share it.

Years ago we had a poaching problem , so I did more patrolling and camera moving . One day just prior to bow I got to the road and found a DEC officer waiting there for me . He knew of the poacher and saw me out in the field , I had a Glock 23 on my hip open carried . He glanced at it but never said a word let alone asked for my permit. We talked and he gave me his card and he even changed his hours to try and catch the guy . They can tell pretty fast who's on the good guys team, at least in this part of the state .

The farm I hunt has land all around the old Creekside gun shop, I'd bow hunt weekends and hear the gun guys shooting all,day long , never an issue .

I started the year after marring Mrs .302, draw your own conclusions . Turns out I liked it ( bow hunting ) .
