  1. Im thinking Nov 4 to the 15 th or so is when things go crazy around me ,give or take a few days . Although Oct 28 and a couple days past have been good as well .
  2. Shooting a firearm you want the finger to,move straight back so not to pull your shots , this means using the center of the pad past the distal, joint . You want your second knuckle to always be pointing towards your target as well . This is basic stuff one learns in a beginners class . I would think this transfers to a release as well. I use the center of the pad here as well .
  3. Well I have thought about opening a store just across the line in Penn. to sell all the things we have to buy out of NYS. Fireworks, standard size magazines , regular size pepperspray ,oil based paints , now I can add deer piss . One stop shopping , come on down !
  4. That's one of the had parts of the job, at times when you want to be taking care of your family and home, you can't be . But that's what we signed up,for . All my best wishes to,those in the storms path .
  5. Ha ha ha... Well I had just used my name ( or is it? ) and a number that has some meaning to me . BUT so many here have great names , (Sits in trees being my favorite ) So I thought I'd change it up, and since Nomad means one with no fixed home who wanders, I thought stay at home nomad was funny . The Atomic Fireball shall remain .
  6. I don't have an Under Armour body, more of a suit of Amour one .
  7. That's not mine, I pulled that off the net when I was looking for ideas . id like to do that but I lack any wood working skills .
  8. I agree it's the first shot that counts, no warm up ,no walking the arrows in, no " hey most of my shoots were good". Just one kill shot or bad shot . Shoot one when you first get up, another as you head to work, one when you get home and so on . Unless you're new and building up muscles and consistent form . Ive shot 6 arrow so far this year , I'll step,it up soon, but I'm 100% confidant right now .
  9. Weathered wood and barbed wire is very commen , this guy made it unique . Could always use an old Genny Cream Ale can instead of wire as they're more commonly found in the woods.
  10. Did it last year , my first time . I never really keep much of a log, other than trying to write the number I saw on a calendar when I remembered .
  11. I agree. Never had to adjust sites for BH.
  12. Treeguy, I consider entry level to be their sub $30 ones. Most Spyderco's I carry run in the $50- $90 range . Give me a Delica or Endura and I'm all set . Now I do have a Hinderer XM 18 ( ($385) but you can beat he crap out of it, send it back and Rick will make it like new. That and used and beat I can sell it for more than I paid. He sells only to military and first responders , and limits them as well, so the secondary market for them is red hot , new ones resell for double but that's bad to do as he wants them in the hands of real users not collectors . This knife was made to be abused. PM me your address , I'm trying to thin the herd and you wouldn't be the first guy here to receive a package from me . PS don't expect a Hinderer. Would you have any use for a large hand filling one with a fat recurve blade ? It's not a splinter picker but it'll take abuse . I've had it years but seldom carried it, as I'm not a fan of recurves .
  13. Only a couple hundred acres on the farm I hunt , out of a few thousand they could plant , choose to file their crop insurance due to the wet weather . Should make an interesting hunt this year , luckily the farm just south of my thick stuff planted corn .
  14. Philoshop, shop thanks ! We ate at Halseys it was pricey ,my wallet happens to be somewhat fat though . The inside was very very nice, wish I read your post before we went would have looked more closey . Would be nice if they put some crab and that crab and pasta dish, nice atmosphere, should expand the beer list . Ill check out some others you recommended, she be auditing the college's investments for some weeks . i told her with her boss buying lunch everyday and her per day $75 meal allowance she should be paying for dinner , that didn't work .
  15. I've taken to carrying a small knife for most tasks , saving the edge on my larger one for when its really needed . Often a Spyderco Dragonfly (small), and Yojimbo, or Hinderer XM18. I do,own a ZT ( made by Kershaw) and once owned a Kershaw Chive, nice little blade with Speedsafe mechanism. I can also appreciate shirt pockets, as I depend on reading glasses too ! I changed from tshirts to short sleeve button down shirts with a pocket .
  16. Mine are still in a tote unwashed from last season .
  17. Nice ! I had a two blade cut on contact Mangus , 10 Pt , hard rear 1/4ing right under my stand go through both sides of ribs, exit " armpit " of opposite side and go trough front leg bone . couple swipes on a fine stone and it went back in quiver .
  18. Kershaw and Buck both make knives in the U.S. and overseas , and the overseas ones are coming up in quilty . However they also make a range of knives from premium to entry level, which can lead to differant opinions of a brand as some are not comparing like models at times. Kershaw has a lifetime warranty and lifetime free sharpening . Spyderco also has a great warranty and once the owner , Sal Glassser read a post of mine online and sent me a new knife ( one not out yet ) after reading about an issue I had . Spyderco while using different steels and handle materials , uses only premium ones, their enter level knives are sold under a different name, Byrd to keep the Spyderco name associated only with higher end knives .
  19. Kershaw is a good company that stands behind their products . I can say the same for Spyderco .
  20. Sorry I did not read this whole thing , what exactly are the questions to the Econ officer you guys want answered ? One hunts the farm and I know two others that I touch base with most seasons . Zone 8
  21. Stingers . 30 years used 4 differant heads . But the majority has been a fixed blade Mangus , I did go crazy one year and kill a buck with a Rage thingie .
  22. I like the state and have defended it both online and in person . But it's largely the physical state I like , that is the land , and water . I grew up swimming and boating on Lake Ontairo , playing hockey on the bay, sucker spearing in the creeks , fishing ? A creek ran through my buddies yard and woods, in the '70's we built dams and a spring feed hachery and caught trout in another creek, and stocked our own creek . It's the cost of living , i.e. Taxes , the politics , the general unpleasantness of so ,many people . I smile , wave say hello to most folks I pass by and I'm lucky if I get a grunt back, I visit other states and everyone seems much more happy. I truely feel NYC is perhaps the worlds greatest city, but I have little desire to ever go there again, truely feel sorry for my fellow FF's who ,have to,try to eek out a living there . Leaving here in the winter and flying into FLA is like in the Wizzard Of Oz, when it goes from black and white to color . Dirty salt covered cars , brown and grey roads and yards to shiney bright cars ,green grass and that bright thing up in the sky .....
  23. You can't change the date Fall starts , it's 9/22/2017 .
  24. Thanks all ! I think we ate at Beef and Brew before is it next to a Rite Aid ? We'll be there tomorrow night , perhaps Eddie O'brians . Just looking for decent food and a place to hang out with our daughter for a bit . She is staying at a hotel on the lake, as well .
