  1. Thanks for the update , I only did it first year . 15 seems low for all that area . I know a handful of guys who used to take a fair number around Pellet, vosberg, whiting alone . They all complain the program ruined their hunting , to many guys stumbling around the woods . its interesting I'd say the locals killed that many or more before the town program to reduce numbers .....
  2. Belo, if you call Webster Parks and Rec. they can answer your questions . 872 7103 I believe . Mark Yaeger is the guy in charge of Parks and Rec. Keep in mind the bow program does not run weekends , last I knew mornings M-F , to lesson the interaction with hikers, dog walkers and so on . You can also save your eggs . well the way it's going , I'd say I picked the correct side..... Build the wall !!! well I'm of to get two hang ons and somewhere down there is a trail camera but I have no idea where.
  3. Helmet , first of welcome ! Second way to go and stick with it . As the sign says on the door at my gym, " showing up is half the battle ." Philoshop, I use bands a few times a week it's about all I can do for my shoulders . I do internal and external rotations , and hold it in my palms elbows at waist forearms at 90 degrees and pull out and hold .

    Beer

I'm a big supporter of Genny and their pilot beers are pretty good, this one is not my favorite but it's ok. 6% ABV . Btw I highly recommend visiting their Brew House for a flight and meal, best view of the city, great gift shop just a really great place . I'll happy meet any of you there ! They are also building a $50 million expansion and adding 130 jobs ! Another reason to keep buying their products, they employ my neighbors !
  5. I do whatever my body lets me. Sat. is deadlift day, along with a few cleans or shrugs, rows , chins and finish with 3 farmers walks with 88 pound KBs. Shoulders just letting me back into chins so I hold it to 25 ( broken up ). I wing it most other days, typical would be row 5 minutes, 25 push ups, 10 KB swings, 5 rounds . Mix and match may sub in rope climbs . Or do tractor tire flips 7 down 7 back followed by 10 hits with a sledge hammer, 20 minutes . Other days Jacobs ladder and the stair trac which is a moving set of stairs like and escalator , often with a 45 pound weight vest . I like the stair trac as its up high and I get a great view of the yoga pant clad moms . plus foam roller, PT exersizes and stretches . I skipped today .....
  6. I'm a bit of a flashlight geek, I own or have owned Surefires, olight, 4sevens, streamlight, Fenix, lens light and on and on. Right now and for good reason the hottest light out there is , as mentioned above the Fenix PD35 . I own two of them . If you can buythe charger and two rechargeable batteries . I also buy CR 123 in bulk online , you can get them at about a buck each . i use the lowest setting when I need a light to and from stands, and whatever level is best suited to blood trailing etc. Many companies exaggerate the lumens , like most on TV and the cheaper ones all over the net. I've seen some that claimed over 1,000 test out at 150 ! ive also bought a number of these cheap lights, they don't hold up, buy the brands I listed and don't worry . Really just get the PD 35. I buy from , Fenix Store . Google them .
  7. I hate it had to do most of my house after we moved in 22 years back .

    Beer

Still drinking the beer of the month 12 pack, and some venison cube steak for the grill.
  9. Well if you do get bored, may I suggest stripping wall paper ......
  10. " you young guys " Hey thanks I plan on retiring this coming May, perhaps the following year it's a toss up right now , so not to many call me young , but I get it as I sometimes act like a 12 y/o . My post was somewhat tongue in cheek, that is hunting numbers are dropping and seems that a much larger drop is on the horizon ,something I see as a much bigger threat , than crossbows . The whole rearranging the deck chairs while the Titanic is sinking thing . Something I think you agree with, without numbers it's harder to get the politicians attention , fight the antis , have state land access for hunting and on and on .
  11. Fletch, I've found when using ground out of a jerky shooter , sometimes I get differant thickness , I try to go thin as possible for even and faster drying , and the lower trays will cook quicker . I did chuckle when I read , " five pounds " in a day in one of those !
  12. But what if he can pull a rabbit out from under it ? Yes sorry I derailed the thread, but anyone can steer it back .....
  13. Don't really have any goals . It's the farmers job to plant the food . I guess my goal is to kill a decent buck early on and stay clean and dry as much as possible .
  14. Wasn't there hard to comment directly on it . I have been on countless shootings, stabbings, calls with out of control crowds, swat raids, and I've forced entry many times for cops to go in and grab someone . Heres what I have learned, if you do what they say things will go the best as possible for you, even when you don't you're often given more chances then I thought. My advice to my kids was always, do what the cops says even when you know he's wrong, we can sort it out in court later.
  15. Ha ha ha , NO ! He works for the magician David Blain, they just met him I guess . Cynthifu, thanks for the post, mine don't have much time to,commit to hunting , but by starting now the time may come later .
  16. There goes the neighborhood !

    Beer

One Penn. Tux yesterday ( had to use the plastic cup due to the location I consumed it .... The Lagunitas right now !
  18. I did not since the first year, the program is ongoing still I believe . You will need to be able to hunt M-F as well . I have a good friend that lives State rd / Shoe craft , you may be neighbors . Let me ask my other friend who, owns acres right smack dab in the middle of one of the Webster now hunt area , about what's going on, I know it pretty much ruined all his hunting by his house . I also know the guy at Parks and Rec that runs the program , I'll email him as well .
  19. With the average age of a NYS deer hunter being in the late '40's, I guess in 20 or so years we'll have about half the number of hunters we do,today . Should be plenty of deer no,matter what weapons are allowed . See all is well .....
  20. That's smart , it's often the strap they see as its visible 360 degrees. I have cut them to a few inches and used roofing nails to attach to tree . That way someone passing by the " back" of tree doesn't know it's there . I'm going to switch to wire.
  21. That would be my guess , like when I go to a Brewers web page and have to enter age. I never enter real age it's alway Jan . 1 then whatever year the little wheel, you spin lands on , or I make up a year.
  22. Well perhaps our youngest may be a better match, she's the blond in gray skirt with white infinity scarf . She's a CPA and has her carry license and a .38 snub . She has no height requirement although her last BF was 6'4" and a full ride D1 athlete who went off to,law school on a full academic scholarship , not sure if he could skin a squirrel , so,you may have him beat .
  23. I'll pass it along, but i hold little sway in these matters . I'll say though that last one was 6'4" and finishing Med school, it would be a plus if you can dance well at country concerts .....
  24. I was waiting for a box wine comment ! Well that daughter had a big going away party at Mendon Ponds park, prior to her brief move to NYC, and that is left over , she bought it . Pygmy thanks she is pretty and smart graduated college Suma Cum Laude. My thought is that my Mailman must be very smart and good looking ! She's back here again working at Strong hospital , and recently boyfriend less , hiker , hunter, camper . Fellas must be over 5' 11" though she's currently holding tryouts , dating her does not get one immediate access to my hunting land either ......
  25. Grow, my screen name on some forums is Lone Hunter.... If a guys wife hunts with them , who the heck is making a nice warm meal so it's ready when one returns from the hunt ? Below is this years bow buck and my daughters doe , the doe means way more to me , I'd give up a buck any day for,her to take a doe . Get your daughters out there !
