  1. I tried but she refused to wear the brown fur coat and antler hat......
  2. Ok I got a question , the farm plants several hundred acres of soy beans and in one small field by me ( the only bean field I've walked by this year )they are low. Now these are " no till" beans which again I've never heard of or seen them plant before. Is it normal for no till beans to grow lower ? I'd ask the farmer, but with the wet summer I'm always afraid to ask about things if they might not be growing well..... Thanks
  3. Hung some stands last week in high heat and humidity , better late then never ...... Ya I got sweaty just like everyday at the gym or work. Today we'll be in our pool and it's great to keep warm pool temps well into Sept ! ( projecting it out another week or so) Then we are off to a river side bar supper time . I'm pretty darn happy with this heat in sept .
  4. Don't know about hearing , but LASIK took my eyes from 20/200 without my glasses to 20/15 ! No more fogging glasses, wet glasses , shiney glasses .
  5. sWe do the same. I hunt a farm of a few thousand acres with many more surrounding farms of size as well. We all work togather to manage the area for bucks of a certin size, but young and new hunters get to shoot a buck of any size . Is pretty common .
  6. If the dec wants more doe taken they should just pass out these signs with your doe tags.....
  7. Rob, I'm 56 still curve up the water as good as at 25. Ok my falls may be softer but I'm sure you got many years left!
  8. I use ladders, hang ons, climbers and own one pop up my daughter uses in gun. Yesterday I hung three more hang ons, yes VERY late for me.... And it was 80 plus with high humidity , not fun. I noticed one thing Im not going as high anymore with these. Age I guess. As for ladders I use one man 15 footers , i like these more and more. I have no trouble carrying them in and setting up myself. This year I moved two of them a couple hundred yards, I just throw them over my shoulder like lumber ( pad your shoulder first!). If it's a shorter move in more open hardwoods I carry them upright like you would any ladder , beam against shoulder , dip knees grab a lower rung stand and walk. I had one ladder where last year I had a couple dozen deer within 20 yards over the season , I can't recall getting busted once and I often draw on deer just for practice . I prefer to place them inside triple trees or at least two trunkers. Good luck !
  9. Culvercreek, I get two for 8h my daughter gets two and we each get two more dmaps from the farm we never use them all. I may be able to help you out , give me a couple weeks .
  10. From the end of Oct to Thanksgiving I've got 4 weeks off. I'll hunt when I feel like it early .
  11. Interesting thread. I've never owned a p/u but I'm thinking of maybe getting one. I've also never made a car payment or lease payment , it's hard for me to wrap my head around the cost of new or a few years old truck. I don't like to put much money into rapidly depreciating assets. The watch I'm wearing today costs more than my car, but also holds a better value......( bought it pre owned ). Not afraid to spend money just not on vehicles . I do like the new Colorado though.
  12. Let's see over the next two weeks I have to , install hardwood in family room ( it's delivered this tues), power wash and stain the house, sand prime and paint some window trim. Wash windows, weed the mulch again .... All 14 yards of it, The boat and pool will be closed in October . I still have three hang on's to put up , hopefully this wed. Oh I guess I should buy a lic. and tags too sometime. All in all only a few days work.
  13. Sometimes it just happens, friends camp in Naples.
  14. Good because with the wife's bad hip , we won't be going far off the road this time .
  15. Stingers with bleeders. 28 or so years of killing them in bow season, used three differant heads in that period with the only two bows I've ever owned.
  16. " golf is not nature" Loved that. Thanks posting this, we head to Old Forge in the morning! I hope cigars and Gin around the campfire count .....
  17. Never had a deer rifle till two years ago, so my cheapest box is like $27. I do have some old ammo though.
  18. Seems to be more of an ad, "for only 14.95".....and the author seems to be a know it all .
  19. It's for shooting at right angles, so you don't have to move when the deer is to your side.
  20. Will do! This time wings are on me. Not sure when I'll be back, she's getting pretty self sufficient , I do want to go install a lock on her sliding glass doors. Yes ,and they were good.
  21. 36 pages and nobody pointed out that today there are far better lubes than Vaseline, which it would seem would be best suited for the traditional crowd I guess.....
  22. Sorry to hear. A high number of burglaries are done by someone who has been in the home prior, workmen, delivery guys, the black sheep of the family , kids friends. Everything I buy gets my name scribed into it. ok not guns ..... I take photos of the items , I make a list of ser. # and take a pic of that. These get emailed to me so i can pull them up anywhere . Don't know if it'll do much good other than handing to insurance company . Oh and speaking of insurance , everyone needs to know their polices coverage ,I bumped up my firearms , but jewelry was a bit different , limits on amounts and not all offer ,theft, fire and loss and mysterious disappearance I went with Jewelers Mutual as the do.
  23. Well I know many rpd guys, we have a good working relationship great guys for the most part. RFD you have to live in the city to take the test, not sure about PD. Good luck , that 4 months will be worth it , I alway looked at it like this , there are guys away fighting a war for much longer!
