Come to our hunting camp, and we'll change that! Sometimes it's to easy on here.....

Oh I've switched from camo to orange as well. Between out of town wedding, running my Mom to Drs.and so on I pretty much gave up the last ten days of bow. Great year though ,some doe died, saw 4 different big bucks, some a couple of times, drew back on my biggest buck at 15 yards but he never left cover. Passed up a boat load of young bucks, saw more deer then any bow season. I'm pretty much giving up OD morning sitting in a ladder by a ground blind I set up for my daughter. She gets what comes by,I get a couple far off shots with the .270 if he's not headed her way.

The story broke about a week ago on a local radio show. The 18 y/o hunter called in as well as his father. The whole story on the radio lasted an hour or more. Cops and Econ officers responded and would not press charges. Dogs collars have gps chips and owner could show them dog was never on the shooters land, they really did not care...... Man fired and reloaded and kept firing despite kids yelling to stop that people were over there, that and they had on headlamps. All as pellets whizzed by and hit all around them. Responding officers still did not care, said he could protect his livestock, which the dogs were never near......and they could have looked at the gps tracking to confirm. Finally after public pressure, due to,the news picking it up they rethought things. Once I yell and someone keeps firing, well I'm in fear of my life and have been forced to respond.

I think you should only be able to shoot young deer the half hour preceding sunrise and the half hour following sunset, only from a stand you place on the property line and right next to the neighbors stand. You must not wear any hunter orange, and must mark the blood trail with survey tape. There did I cover them all? AR restriction discussions generally go,south fast.... Now where I hunt in 8 several large farms, land owners all have self imposed AR ,it's seem to work well for us. I see more bigger bucks then before ,now we ve been doing it for idk 10 plus years and control miles of prime farm land. Sure there are some gaps in it and I'm sure a few guys get desperate and shoot a young one here and there. We have an annual meeting of hunters, last one we had 75 plus guys attend, seems to be catching on! Keep in mind few will kill a big buck each year even under our conditions .

To me those that hunt to the minute and not one second over/under are a lot like Leprechauns,Bigfoots and Mountain Lions in NYS. A mythical creature I've read about yet have never seen in the wild. I'm sure they never drive 56 or touch their hand held electrical device while driving either.....

Nice job! Gotta love watching them drop a short walk away.

I kinda admire those who would not shoot the biggest buck of their lives as it stood under their stand 2 minutes Before legal light. I just wish they'd move out of the left lane while their cruise is set right at 55 because the rest of us are doing 65 and the Troopers don't even look up from playing Flappy Bird.

Been watching this from the get go. My good friend and sometimes hunting partner lives on Bain Bridge Island and works in Seattle. He's an attorney and unfortunaty a fud,so in order to preserve our friendship I avoid the gun issue more or less. I wish the gun owners well out there but unfortunaty they've been Californicated years ago.

I too hope you find it. I take many things into a account of where and when I bow hunt. I don't hunt an afternoon if I can't come back the next morning,I strongly prefer an afternoon hunt in the open hardwoods,as they are easier to find and mine has cut crop fields all around it,again easier for me to recover . I avoid the thick brush most afternoons as it's often hard to find them that night,oh I've done it,but I don't like doing it. Good luck in that swamp! Oh it's not always how FAR they run but what they run INTO. I went back the next day to recover a friends deer last week ( he could not as he owns a large co.and had to work) he shot it at night and it ran into thick brush..... It only went maybe 150 yard but it was mostly all me on hands and knees ,it's that thick . No ground blood as the "Rage in the Cage" broke apart inside the deer and the exit Hole was made by a bare shaft the never came out all the way. Found it but I was at last blood searching that spot for an hour, it was ten yards from me that whole time!!!!

Picked some more up the other day, tonight I put it on some tore up branches over scrape. Slow night couple does off a bit, last light some crashing in a couple spots, out comes buck chasing a doe a bit. She seems to go,off,he sticks around ,walks over to the branches starts to smell it then starts to rub it with top of head and antlers. Then stands there broadside for a while. I was happy with that.

I pre drill my signs, that way it's easier to insert nail hold over head and nail it on tree up high. I also bring along one climbing stick, they can't tear down what is not an easy reach. Wed. We move a ladder stand into a spot they like to cross over,we ll take turns sitting there and now with rifle it's not a bad spot. Also got a few flags ready to hoist . I take orange vests staple them to,wood hangers put weight ( rocks in pockets) use 550 cord to raise them up in spots where they can be seen from way off. Walk to stand raise one up , move them a bit from time to time. We ve already had one guy arrested this bow season ,that seems to work, well too.....

We've used deer carts, and plenty of man power ,other times we've brought rope systems and set up a 4 to 1 to haul them up. But my friends from out west laugh at us dragging deer out, they cut them up on the spot and pack out the meat . Really a couple guys could just put the meat on their backs and walk out . My friend Jay is Moose hunting in Wash. State this week, he got 1 of 50 tags. He'll pack the meat out by himself , but plans for two days to do just that. Here a buddy from Montana with his elk shot 1.6 miles from camp,4 tips to pack out the meat ,hide and rack again by himself took a day. Us flat landers need to tough n up!

Odd man out go figure , in 26 years I've never taken it off in the stand.

Figured I'd get things in order for gun season seeing as how Ill be out of town for a few days, then bow hunting hard early next week. Can't find my daughter's orange coat ,with tag holder and my fleece vest. I have a small gun /hunting room with shelves of clothes and a coat rack with my parka. Searched the house 3xs Driving me nuts, which is a short drive to start with. Well add Dicks to todays list of stops.

This is funny,I just reread my posts..... Since I wrote them a few days ago, I'm burnt out and discouraged . Been hunting a lot both ends of the last few days, that's down and back in the ,morning then again in the afternoon, about 3hours a day of driving. Saw ton of deer passed many young bucks, saw some shooters, that's better them some I know. Driving, getting gas, washing clothes, tired all the time. Then my last two times nothing. I taking today off, hunt tomorrow AM. Then out of town till Sunday night. I hope I can take my own advise!

Thanks I'll remind the Mrs.
