In the gym 5 or 6 days a week. 2 days I wear a 45 pound vest and do 45 minutes spread out over a stair climber, Jacobs Ladder, rower and treadmill.then I do 10 minutes of hitting tractor tires with a sledge hammer and flipping them. The other days I do Kettlebells, chin ups, push ups, rope climbs , farmers walk things like that, mix them up . Oh Sat. Is deadlift day and power cleans.

Best Place to Retire Away From Snow in East Coast???
Nomad replied to halfnelson's topic in General Chit Chat
It's a struggle everyday we change our minds on locations time frames and so on. She wants to move for good, I'd be happy with just going for the winter . My folks went to fla for 30 winters made all kinds of friends did all kinds of things. One thing I don't like is being the youngest person in the bar, restaurant and gym. I'm 55 and where ever we went I thought I was visiting my Mom at "the home" . I went days without seeing young attractive women...... One gum I went to in a retirement community had a bunch of folks walking on treadmills in street clothes and 6 or 8 machines, ok I need chin up bars, Kettlebells , tractor tires to hit and flip....... Some friends have a condo in Fort Myers , same age and in tip top shape , the people at the pool call the the "kids". I work with people in their 20's 30's 40's I go out with them, train with and talk to those ages at the gym. I need a retirement community of young folks ......... -
I put this in GCC for more exposure. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BEG-ly9tQGk

Best Place to Retire Away From Snow in East Coast???
Nomad replied to halfnelson's topic in General Chit Chat
Ha friend just sent us a link to a house they know of for sale in South Carolina , on a river. Checked their hunting regs . Hunt one HOUR before and after sun set / rise, one doe a day for the entire season and no limit on antlered bucks . Downside is you have to follow nascar..... -
We were in Fla. At a lighthouse a worker hears me talking guns with my brother in law, we start talking deer hunting. He says he goes back home to Wisconsin to hunt, the deer are small in Fla. A woman is listening and comes over and says, " I wish someone would come to my farm and kill them I got to many ". Oh I ask," where is your farm"? Illinois she says !! Let me introduce my self.....

Best Place to Retire Away From Snow in East Coast???
Nomad replied to halfnelson's topic in General Chit Chat
Well that is a question we are asking ourselves daily it seems. Just back from Fla. Where we have a ton of friends and relatives , some snowbirds some year round. We checked out a few places . So many variables , do we want two places or just move for good. Having two is ok but to avoid nys taxes we' d have to be gone over 6 months . Where will or kids end up? One is a RN here but her boyfriend is in Med school and they could live anywhere, other one has to work two years for one of the big four acct. firms and then could go anywhere to work. The big 3 for retires are health care, weather and overall cost of living . Bankrate has a top ten list, as do many others. My nephew has done very well in Tenn. and is picking up one million dollars worth of hunting land by his house( he's killed some. VERY nice bucks there).so that's in the picture as well. Hunting for me though is not a big factor if we move, one can fly or drive anywhere to hunt a couple weeks. We flew to fla in 2 1/4 hours.....$250 round trip. It was like the Wizzad of Oz. We went from brown, grey , cold to warmth ,bright blue sky, green grass and trees and shiney cars! I'm ok with snow, run my dog daily, x country ski, then there is this ,warm up car, clean off car , snowblow driveway , slip and fall on ice( what killed my Dad at 89 he stayed up north that year due to health reasons) . I'll trade that for sun, sand waves, ocean fishing,Diving . I only wish Tenn. was on the ocean it would be an easier choice . -
Oh ya we're good. My daughter is home this month , but I'll be up your way at some point this winter if you don't mind sitting on them. I just pulled two, stands one with LW sticks the other with Muddy ladder sticks. The LW are way lighter and easier to carry in and out. If you, want to drive to Roch to sit in a hot tub with a bald mid 50's man fighting love handles, well I might stick to screw in steps......

Frankly I could shoot a doe almost any sit in bow and half the ones in gun. I love the meat and I'd drop,a couple right off then idk go to the gym and watch the milf's like I do the rest of the year......

Looks like there may just be statewide Antler Restricts.
Nomad replied to Four Season Whitetail's's topic in Deer Hunting
I hunt a 3,000 acre farm where we have self imposed AR's , many land owners around us are on board as well, so we control a several miles with a few breaks in between . This is a pic of our last year end meeting and a FEW recent mounts. That said I feel ARs should be up to the hunter. -
What I found interesting is this guy said it was his proudest day of his life . Wow what a looser . My kid killing a nice buck would not make my top 20 !
-
I have 3 humidors 2 at home one at work. I try to smoke at work on night tricks but folks keep shooting each other or setting their houses on fire and messing that up .... I consider my Hot Springs hot tub my most expensive cigar accessory .

with it. I find it difficult to dunk a basketball, Lebron James thinks it's easy... is he wrong? No, the truth is that most 5' 10 white guys can't dunk a basketball.. so I wouldn't see it as a "slap in the face" if Lebron James said it was easy. Nyantler , Why just white guys are you saying black guys 5'10" are just better at basketball ? -
I have no interest in starting up a business, but a small knife shop might be an enjoyable retirement for me.Although not sure if the market around here could support it. We all know most start ups fail and most owners work a ton of hours, however the ones who succeed seem to,do very well. One of my hunting partners owns a factory in Roch. He's home everyday by 2:30 so he hunts every afternoon in bow and gun he wants, on land he owns . Lives on the water owns all the toys and what not. My brother in law took a buy out from Kodak back in the day. Killed himself for a few years owning an optic lens manufacturing plant. Sold it idk 15 years after starting it for a few million profit. His son ,my nephew started a company in Nashville, Inc. Magazine last year rated it the 8th fastest growing company in the U.S. Number 1 in the financial services . He's picking up some hunting land by his house for around one million. He does travel a lot, but clients take him to NFL games and hunting ranches so that's not to bad........ It's a roll of the dice, but the winners can win big.

Nothing . We don't exchange Christmas gifts anymore, we buy what we want during the year. Since I told her I'm buying a Rolex Whiteface Explorer II in Jan. Well the look I got says I might better shop for her once again..... I like a pedicure myself , and I'm a big fan of Allen Edmond shoes, and who doesn't man scape today?

How many days do you hunt during deer season? How far do you travel to hunt?
Nomad replied to Dave's topic in General Hunting
32 miles each way. 14 bow hunts about the same gun and ML. We were thinking of moving to my hunting area, but I'm retiring in 2 1/2 years and a warm state with no state income tax sounds better. Heck I can fly out and hunt the best states in the U.S. For less then the tax on most NY camps! -
If the purpose of a fine is to punish the guilty and prevent others from being temped to break the law then $200 is not going to do it. Let's look at some of today's costs. Most families I know spend over that each month on cell phones, last month we went to an out of town wedding. The room was $350 a night , but wedding guests got a break we only paid $250,our youngest is now taking the CPA exam. It costs $900 to TAKE the test , if you want study material or to take prep classes you can double or triple that cost. Some friends just paid $350 to sit with a Panda bear for about one minuet !! Anyone know where I can buy a Panda bear? Seems like good money to be made. I see many hunters driving late model trucks they don't need for work... Some with ATVs in the back, think $200 means much to them? How About guys that buy acreage and build a cabin just to knock down a couple deer? Fact is hunters pay big bucks to knock down small ones. How many here have multiple stands and cameras ,rifles, bows,ML, shotguns, scent loc, and on and on a $200 dollar fine and a very very low risk of getting caught is nothing to most guys in the woods.

Man after my own heart. Here is my watch and knife of the day, sterile pilots watch on a 5 buckle Zulu and a Case Trapper.

Points. I have got 3 traffic tickets in close to 40 years of driving , 2 when I was young, The 3rd 10 years ago or so, stopped for speeding on the thurway , Trooper wrote me for seatbelt so I would avoid the points, Thanks! My "point" is it's not the fine most worry about it's the points , that could lead to increased insurance costs and possible loss of Lic. So give points with game violations , so many points loose your hunting Lic. Btw we live in a small house and drive 11 and 12 year old cars and invested hard for our whole working lives to pay for that college , but the fact remains that fine is less then one college text book, or the phone in most of your pockets..... My buddy with the Bay house grew up " up north " where his house for the first 12 years was a basement with tar paper over first floor , floor which served as the roof of the house .
