The article I read was from syracuse.com. it was written on 8/13. I found it in the outdoors section in sports. I says any issuing agents with leftover yellow tags can use that til it is gone sind there issues with the new color

I got my dmp's on Monday night at Walmart. I got yellow tags also. I read an article in the ny outdoors news (I believe that's where it was) that licensing agents can use the yellow paper until it is gone. A lot has to do with having problems printing the "new" colored tags on the printers that licensing agents have used in the past. The article said there would be no issues if you have tags that are yellow

My son passed his archery safety class last night. Just have a few questions to make sure I am understanding the regs right. 1. It says jr bow hunters must be accompanied by an adult hunter. My son just purchased a ground blind to hunt. Does this mean I have to sit with him or can I get him settled and head to my treestand? 2. He can apply for a dmp but I believe I read a jr bow hunter can not sign over there dmp's. Is this correct? I have been looking through the dec website a couple times and have not been able to find where I read that so am just curious. Thanks for any info.

You will get a certificate saying your child is a lifetime license holder. They will not be able to get the "license" until they have successfully passed the hunters safety course. They will then need to take the paperwork for the lifetime license and the certificate of completion of hunter safety class to a licensing agent to get the license.

The article I read was on syracuse.com on 7/26. They are a Minnesota based company with 34 stores in the midwest. Expanding into NY. Opening stores in canadaguia, liverpool, and Rome ny
-
They just opened a new wal mart in Liverpool ny. I believe I read somewhere that one of these runnings stores was going to go into the old Walmart building. I've never heard of them though. I will have to see if I can find that article. If only I remember when and where I read it.

Ask around about your local rod and gun clubs. That will give you access to just about anything you want to shoot. Plus you will be supporting your local club.

Best Hunting Boots
boo711 replied to NYBuckHunter27's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I have been hunting in a pair of Cabelas comfort track 2000 boots for the last 4 years. Best boots I have ever owned. My days of cold feet are gone on those late season gun or muzzleloader gun hunts when it is cold. During archery if it is warm I will just wear a pair of ankle socks. Feet don't sweat or get overly hot. I bought a second pair of these a few years ago when I saw they were on sale. They are still in the box waiting to replace the current ones when they need to be retired. Best boot I have ever owned. -
I don't know if it's possible and I don't know where you are located but I have all my gun work done at classic gun stocks. They are located on county rt 7 between Fulton and oswego. If you are in that area I highly recommend them. He could probably even make you a new forearm for your 11-87

I have a pistol permit that was granted to me in Onondaga county. It was granted to me for sportsman. I was told when I picked it up if I got a job in armed security it would have to be updated. Just wondering if you have to have that approved by a judge or does that just need to by done by paperwork at the sheriff's dept? Thanks for any help

I've got 2 browning a5's. A 12 gauge and a sweet sixteen. I could shoot those guns all day long. Awesome guns. My 11 year old loves the a5 12 gauge for shooting trap. I started him on an 870 pump but once he shot that A5 he didn't want to shoot anything else

Wow I must have been lucky. I picked up my paperwork in may of 2013. Guy gave me an appt to bring it back at 8 am on June 3rd 2013. My permit was approved on Fri Aug 2nd and I picked it up the following Tuesday. -
I heard at work today that crossbow season is going to be the last 2 weeks of bow season. Anybody else hearing this??

Where do you guys fish by the caudenoy dam? I went up there last year to bullhead fish but didn't really see a good place. Just the dirt parking area across from the red onion. I ended up taking my son up to the lock at caudenoy and bullhead fished there. Didn't catch any. Was a little disappointing when the fishing report said people were getting them at the dam and just not sure where to go.

That is one nice fish he is holding. His smile says it all!!

Well law, I finally got it back. I had the stock and forearm refinished by a buddys Father. The rest of the gun I had a gunsmith completely disassemble. He cleaned and every internal part, gave it light oiling and reassemble. Also had a new scope put on there since the one that was on the gun was over 30 yrs old. Going to finish getting it all sighted in then anxiously await hunting season for the next 8 months. It is basically a brand new gun. It wss really cool to see my dads face when I took it out of the case. Hopefully I can put it to use like he did and my son will have memories of me using that gun like I have of my dad!! Some before and after pics.

SAFE act lobbyist breaks SAFE act law
boo711 replied to Terry's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I had to google this guy and read some of the articles about this. I found a you tube video where they interview him before the safe act, after and then again after his arrest. He says he did not know it was against the law to have a weapon on school grounds. My feeling is he was a supporter of the safe act, he should have known that. But also that it would be nice to see him get whats coming to him. (Since he wad a supporter of ssfe act). Loss of guns and pistol permit, etc. A chairman of NY scope on that video says he is overcharged and that you should prosecute the gun crime not the gun owners (I dont remember exactly how he worded it). I figured seeing how this guy was a supporter of the safe act Scope wouldnt care if he was charged, not say he was overcharged. Not really sure what to make of this -
My wife grew up in a house with no guns. Her father didnt hunt or fish. I had been friends with my wife for about 15 years before we started dating(dam alcohol). We had one issue shortly before we got married when I went to leave for opening day of deer season and we were living together. I left and went hunting for the weekend. When I got home I told her. I LOVE to hunt, have done it since I was kid and was not going to stop. My wife is still not a "gun lover". But she knows I am responsible and am teaching our 11 year old son about gun responsibility. She had some issues with him shooting at first but is coming around since she knows he wants to hunt and between me,my brother, father and uncles he is learning how to do it safely and responsibly. It is not easy if your wife is not a gun person. My wife has accepted it because she either took me with the guns or she didnt get me. Lol. Seeing videos of my son at the gun club shooting clay pidgeons has peaked her curiosity a little bit to maybe want to try it. Will it happen, who knows. But if she wants to, I am game for it. It takes a lot if talking, explaining, etc. I still get asked everytime I come in the house from the woods if my gun is unloaded. But I always clean my guns and lock them up when done. They stay locked and my kids have no idea how to access them. Is my wife 100% happy to have guns in the home, probably not. But after being married for almost 16 years I dont have an issue having them in the house or when I want to go hunting or shooting anymore either. Having married someone who is not a "gun person" I know what your going through. It is not easy. My advice, be patient, educate and discuss. Good luck!!
