They may be family. But if you are an ethical hunter you should call the DEC. Taking deer and not tagging is wrong. And against the law. I hunted with a group once who took 2 does one day. Never tagged them. I never said a word, never questioned it. But called the DEC when I got home. They got busted. I never hunted with them again

Sitting here at camp out on the deck and we noticed all kinds of emergency vehicles on the other side of lake on rt 54. At first we thought maybe thrre wss an accident but then saw whst looked like a 4 wheeler(we could just see the lights) going up the hill. Watching this all happen on rt 54 south of penn yan. We looked on map and there are no roads over there so they were definitely going up into woods. Emergency vehicles just leaving now. Anyone hear of anything happening over there? Those are some pretty steep hills over there, I hope no one got lost, fell and got hurt or worse. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything??

I have a bow holder attached to the platform of my summit stand. I took my bow holder to work, turned down a piece of steel and welded to end to make it about 5 inches longer. This way my bow even with the quiver will not interfere with the top rail of my stand. Most people dont have the access to the stuff I did but before I did that I would just move the seat part of stand a little so it didnt interfere with bow. It really all depends how much it will extend out from platform. Best wsy to find out is to hunt. Good luck

A beautiful week this week for hunting. Cold temps, a little snow in places. Opening weekend of gun. 50's fri and sat. Close to 60 sunday. 50's on monday. From tues on out from what I can see temps in the upper 30's to low 40s. Really disappointed in mother nature for the warm temps shes giving us for the weekend. Really hope there is a drastic change in forcast but dont think it will happen

We had some snow in the syracuse area last week. Not enough for it to matter though. Would be nice if we had weather like the next couple days for opening weekend. I hate the warm temps

I was really hoping for some temps in the upper 30s to low 40s. Not liking that they are calling for low 50s in 8r. I hate hunting when its that warm. Especially when you are there all weekend

I have a pair of cabelas comfort trac with 2000 grams thinsulate. They are the pull on rubber ones like your father hunts in. I love them. I hope they still make them when I need a new pair because I would buy them again

I have never seen an actual traffic stop for hunters. Or where it says all hunters must pull over. I have seen deer checks on the thruway by the dec but they dont have them any more that I have seen. I dont have an issue with the deer checks. Most of that info is for research. I think it is wrong if the cops just pull hunters over.

Looks like a nice week. I hope your temp for the opener is correct. I looked earlier in the week and they were calling for temps in the mid to upper 50s for the area I hunt. I definitely like what yours is saying a lot better. I havent wanted to look again since I looked Monday

I try to do at least a couple all day sits during bow but those have become tough with all the kids activities the last few years. But will definitely sit all day opening weekend and any other day that I take the drive down to where I do most of my gun hunting

Dont you need the lifetime license for bow or muzzle to get the 1 antlerless tag or did they change that? I never got my antlerless tag until I bought my lifetime license si just curious how that works now

Just looked at the extended forcast for opening weekend. Not liking what I am seeing. Temps in the mid to upper 50s and rain on sunday. Lets hope mother nature is looking out for us and this changes. I would really like highs in the mid to upper 30s. That would be perfect

I went down to penn yan Saturdsy with my brother to talk to some of the landowners whose property we hunt. Just standing on the road talking to one of the landowners I pulled one off my brothers jacket. He went up in the woods to check his ground blind and came out with about 10 on him. The area he hunts down there he always seems to come out of the woods with some on his clothes. We need a really long spell of cold weather. And a long cold winter would help to. The last few mild winters have not helped either.

I try to be in at least a half hour before light. But there are days I get in a little late. Whrn I worked nights I didnt get out til 7 so never got in before 8. I still saw deer and still got deer. You just never know. I havent seen a deer before 8:15 this year.

I have the watch espn app on my phone. Dont use it much except to catch some scores if away from home. Watched the last 10 laps of nascar race on sunday while sitting in my treestand. The list of apps you could get is endless.

My friends son was diagnosed with lyme disease over the summer. I always check myself when I get home but after seeing what he is going through with the meds and all I am extra diligent now. Definately worth a trip to the doctor.

Same thing here. Wierd feeling when your strapped to a tree 15 feet up. Good yhing it is not a constant breeze. It can stop any time now though

I watched a small 6pt last weds playfully chasing a small doe around. He was grunting every now and then when he would get close to her. Deer do grunt year round so it cant hurt if you give a few grunts here and there. It just may not get the same reply thst it might in a few weeks

I just pull the sd card out of my phone and put it in there to check them. I looked into a viewer. figured why buy one when my phone does the same thing. I can save the ones I want right to my phone and then delete the rest
