I saw a few minutes of a hunting show tonight with Lee Lakosky in a blind (no kidding?) while hunting deer. I saw how he had those white "wraps" mid shaft and I'm interested in them. Anybody have an idea on what they are and where to source them?

That's cool as a cucumber Dan, I don't think I've ever seen a sight like that. Sounds like some worthy prospects in the area.......!!!

I've taken lower jaws to the DEC in Buffalo numerous times. Although they are very gracious in giving their time, I don't have the much faith in the age estimates they give me. For the archery buck I killed 10/31 I decided to use deerage.com Last week I sent in the lower front two teeth to them in the special mailer they sent me. 80+ days from now we should have a legit estimate to his age.

Here's some pics and info from mine........

I’m STILL celebrating.

Damn, I was thinking of inviting you to hunt one of my spots in the next couple days.

Thanks for posting this Jay, hopefully others will take note and be vigilant. If you need (almost) anything, just holler. Hopefully others in your circle won’t get it but if they do, their symptoms are mild. Now is the time for them to hunker down and stay quarantined so the spread is contained.

Were did you find a 2021 used, didn't they just get released?

I'm editing this as it was a lame attempt at being funny and this isn't a laughing matter.

Good for you!! Nice to see the kids enjoying it also. Is that an old Remington 760 rifle?

Gotta be the chambering.....time to switch to .243 -
Not sure what your picture is going to tell the OP......The area circled in yellow by the OP is VERY steep as noted in the closeness of the contour lines.

You stuck it out till 9am then went for a walk? How about sit tight till closing time, it'll pay off in spades. It's Opening Day for goodness sake, let the deer move on their own. Patience my friend!

You forgot to add "DM" IIRC you got it from a member here? Somebody in Batavia? Or was it another site? It was a good score........

Shot an 8pt at closing time yesterday....200 yards with the 7mm-08 with 120gr Nosler BT bullets. Dropped like it was hit with a 6.5 Creedmor.

If you face them north as much as possible there's no way the sun should bother them as far as my directional knowledge is concerned. I don't know who Dr. Crow is but maybe check with Dr. Hook......

New Boot Recommendations
Lawdwaz replied to Splitear's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Baffin boots are tough to beat for the coin and Made in Canada. It’s all I wear for 90% of archery hunting. My feet get cold easy so it doesn’t take much for me to go to pack boots. AND toe heaters. This is the model I have had for probably 7-8 years. I believe I bought those to replace another pair of Baffin. https://www.baffin.com/collections/hunting-fishing/products/85920000 Plenty more to choose from too. -
Lost a good hunting and fishing buddy today.

The love for me was mutual in the early years. My first archery season was 1976 when NYS implemented the Junior Archery Season. I was only 15 and could legally hunt big game.......I had to wait a year to gun hunt but dad & mom only would let me hunt weekends and we all know that nobody kills deer AFTER Opening Day. I'm foggy on what year I killed my first gun deer, a button buck but I'd guess '78 or '79. I've posted details and pics of my first archery deer and first gun buck so I won't bore you with those again. There is nothing like the excitement of a buck OR doe at 10 yards whether you are shooting or not, the chasing of a doe by a rutting buck at 3-5 yards hauling ass under your stand or even one of those "dumb" (I hate that term on so many levels) button bucks that have just been kicked off mom because she needs to tend to business standing below your platform. Oh then there is that awesome "buck grunting" like a pig, swollen neck and peeing all over his hocks 55 yards from you. Heck he might has well be in another county for most of us archers. You rarely see that during gun and if you do, you drop the hammer as quick as possible, missing all the cool stuff.

I always hate to see the archery season come to a close. I really enjoy gun season but archery is my priority. Bow season i take serious, gun for fun.
