  1. I quit using them years ago. All I do now is take a small (and I mean small!) pinch off a paper towel and let it fly.....it works better in my opinion and the paper towel services many other uses.
  2. Great buck.....weird way to take a trophy shot.
  3. Just saw this, sure would be a nice conversation starter!! Never shot a .458.....biggest I've shot is my .375 H&H and that's a piece of cake. Good luck with the sale!
  4. Congrats on the beauty! Score, 120"-160".................... I know it gets old but, have you had him aged yet? How about a weight?
  5. Breast, thighs and drumsticks.............here's a great way to fly >>>---------> (makes no difference if it's pheasant or chicken) https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/22471/baked-chicken-reuben/ We have been doing this for years with both birds.
  6. Nothing in the wool for the ticks to feed on.......dried blood isn't very palatable.
  7. I was looking last year for something a little warmer and more water resistant for those late season hunts be it bow, regular firearms or ML. My old KOM is great but on the really wet cold days I was longing for something different and more modern. I opted for the First Lite Sanctuary jacket.....I got it towards the end of the season last year and only got a trip or two out with it. Very warm and pretty quiet; quiet enough I'll bow hunt in it this year when necessary. IIRC the only downside is the hand warmer pockets suck; small and a goofy elastic cuff that impedes entry and exit with gloves. A gal at work that's handy with a sewing machine took care of that detail. I think I'm going to like it a lot but time will tell. One thing though, I can assure you is that it won't replace the KOM. https://www.firstlite.com/sanctuary-insulated-jacket-july-2014.html#donation-section
  8. As moog mentioned, yes you can at least see deer if they were in a field but in the woods or fields you'll bump them anyway. Makes no difference if its dark or light........
  9. I had a pair of Cabela's for many years that have since deteriorated to a point of being NFG. I DID get 30 years out of them though....On those I had a pair of Bob Maki bindings; priceless in my opinion. I bought a second hand pair of LL Bean Trailblazer 36 a couple years ago and I'm going to swap the bindings that came with them with the Bob Maki's. Maybe this thread will prompt me to do it before winter comes!
  10. https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/news/2018/10/22/sodus-ny-shooting-homicide/1731740002/
  11. You guys are locked and loaded I hope......the shooter is still at large and two are dead.
  12. It's an Elite, it'll look good no matter what you do............
  13. Last night (Saturday) was almost a washout.......after the heavy rain quit I jumped in an easy access stand considering the wind and saw nothing from 4:30-6:30 This morning I didn't feel great but still hunted until about 9:30am I took the shotgun and bow with turkey thoughts in mind. Had about 20 birds go by me (the gun was unloaded and on the ground) and I didn't have any desire to climb down and bust them up after they went by. Saw 13 deer, two of which were spikes. Passed on a couple gimme shots on doe due to the lousy way I felt. Some pretty rare free passes were dolled out today...... The wind and freezing temps sure made for a difficult sit, my feet and hands were cold when I left. The darn wind and wet leaves sure gave the deer the advantage today IMO, I rely heavily on my ears......
  14. THE Todd The Beagle? The one & only Todd?? He’s quite the pooch.......,
  15. It’s a proven winner starting the 20th of October. Every year........
  16. I figured if I started to stick a couple in this thread somebody might question why the first (hell it could be the only deer I kill?) kill didn't go to this thread.
  17. Just so there's no confusion, my doe from Sunday was tagged with a DMAP tag. No count........
  18. Today Kathy & I were talking about drinking, she said she thinks her grandfather had a drinking problem. I asked why...... She went on to say that when she was just a little girl she can remember her grandfather always having a shot and a beer, all while smoking a cigarette. Only ONE person came to mind, LOL. I assured her that those actions certainly don't indicate a drinking problem. I wonder if they had a Legion in their home town?
