I got all my work done up in Orleans County and got back around 4:30.........watched the DVR'd Bills game (woot) and now watching the end of the NASCAR race. I'll probably plunk a few arrows in the basement Block then pound a Molson Canadian. Not too shabby of a day......... I see more couch (davenport for you old farts) time coming with these warm temps. Won't you join me???

This thread is for all that aren't hunting today. There's always going to be those days that you'd like to be hunting but life (or laziness) get in the way. Today I have to winterize and closeup my FIL's trailer in Waterport. Wifey and I will enjoy the ride up and back and maybe tool around wile up there. As I'm sure all of you do, we love this time of year with the start of leaves changing, the grasses in the fields browning up and roadside stands all chocked with apples, pumpkins and decorative corn. I don't have any problem missing out on an Opening Day of archery season as I know for me at least, the magic doesn't really start for a few weeks. I may as well get my work done. enjoy some time with my wife and then when the time is right, hit it hard! So here's to those of us with their ass parked on the couch for one reason or another. Have another cup of coffee and get your work done, THEN hunt when the time is right!!

Larry did you get a New car??

Primarily, what are you going to use him for? (duck I assume)

I'm still at the first minute things........... It usually takes a couple/three sits before I get things perfected each year.
-
Typically I fry them. I think they're real good with poached eggs and a couple sides of rye toast..........
-
WTF is so funny about that?
-
I'm just breezing through now and didn't read this but good job giving guys a heads up.

Oh come on, I'm typing away and you respond with THAT? You gotta give us a chuckle somehow.................

Open a shop here........seriously.

Sounds like my last 9 months.........plenty to go wrong. Good luck with the bow. You can't hunt with it till November 1st, right?
-
Actually what that means is that the folks in the south have to deal with this stuff on a regular basis and do. In the southern zone, heck, bow season USED to open 10/15 and NOT 10/1.............we didn't have to deal with as much heat generally with the mid-October opener as we do now. 14 days later could make a big difference in temps as many people (myself included) usually wait a week to ten days until after opening day to start to get fired up. Another thing, most guys use butchers. Lots of butchers around our area do NOT have coolers to store many bow killed deer. As you know, spoilage can happen dang fast...................

I believe they are both owned by Beretta.

Rare to get a deal at a gun show!!
-
Tikka makes a wood stocked gun of high regard. Tough to whoop on a nice Remington,!Winchester, Browning, Sako etc.

Happy Birthday Tom!!

You guys that are anxious to get out there better have a plan in place in case you do kill one.........these temperatures still aren't great for handling game. Either way, good luck!!
-
I'll welcome those temps.......at this point I'm tapped out with these temps.
