If the gun is already drilled and tapped, do it yourself. We're here to help if you have an issue..................................

Nahhhh, that wasn't a pitch...............

On the way to and from work today I saw more deer than I have in 7 months of my commute, especially the afternoon drive home. Do you think it was the cold temps, getting them up and moving? I mean heck, it was 12 degrees and a slight breeze. They were probably getting hungry and cold so needed to get up and move then grab some fuel for their furnace?? Nahhhh................

I thought I was gonna freeze my onions off today................................holy cow was it cold.

I keep a journal for each spring and fall each year since 1992. I'll fill in turkey misses and kills for myself and (when they participated) my father and other friends and family. Same for fall small game and big game. I had much more small game entries a number of years ago when I hunted dove, duck, geese and some pheasants. Could even be a crow hunt entry among the yellowed pages.............. For the past few (?) years I've been selected to participate in the NYS DEC Regular Season survey. Basically it is just a head count for buck, doe and unknown animals in each area I hunt. IIRC it does also include bear and moose but I don't bump into many of them............ I jotted down my totals from this years survey and I think I have last years somewhere.......I'd be interesting to compare the two! One thing I do know, I only had 36 or 37 hours in the bush in the 2015 Regular Season. Thin, real thin........(movie reference)

This past fall while grinding my venison my grinder (not that old.....) was slowing up quite a bit. Maybe the meat wasn't cold enough, maybe it had a touch too much sinew or maybe the blade wasn't sharp enough?? I started looking into new grinders at Cabela's. I had some CC points and a couple gift cards to burn so after some soul searching this beast came home yesterday........................ 3/4hp Cabela's Carnivore. The thing is heavy, something like 50lbs! One of my buddies who lives near by has a smaller grinder like my old one, he'll be excited to see this.. Hopefully it does as good as I hope..........

The wife and I took a ride to Rochester yesterday, we had something to return at LL Bean and I wanted to see that store. We were disappointed at what they had to offer but not surprised. We hiked the Eastview Mall and can see that is tired looking.............. Heading back west I jumped off the 90 and went up to the Field & Stream store. Not bad, not bad at all......I know, if you're a regular there it gets old but I was somewhat impressed. Probably since I'd never seen it before?? Traffic? Holy Mackerel you guys have it too! The best part about the "Eastview" area is the beautiful hills. All lightly dusted with a fresh snow, awesome!!

He is 73 years young. Opps......72 Sorry Doc.

Morning and Happy Birthday Doc! Hope you have a great day, any big plans?

I think they all work great; all different but so is every buck. That's probably 20 years of grunt calls I'm selling, all have brought results. Maybe not dead bucks but certainly turned heads and courses. Last year I bought a custom call and do like the sounds of it a little better, thus the reason for thinning the heard. One more thing.......I bought and sold some vintage smoking pipes on EBay a number of years ago, there ain't anything more gross than used pipes! These grunt calls could be considered "Hospital Grade" compared to pipes.

These are still available.......

Yes but I was referring to the posters mention of the 17 HMR. (Hornady Magnum Rimfire) I bet its a crusher on big game, albeit illegal in NYS!

How do you identify that a buck has dropped his antlers?
Lawdwaz replied to Rockspek's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Pretty tough I'd guess but some posters here seem to be able to do it. Good luck............................. -
Congratulations! Boy or girl? Mom is doing ok?

Sounds like a good idea, count me in. If we get more than a 4-6 of us, a place where we had a small room or separate area so we could mingle among the group might be a good idea. I've never been to the Griffon so can't comment on their place...... TF is the event planner................

There is much to chew on here, not including the doe. -
Gotta be a handful!! Some dogs just don't make the cut for some owners...........I bet I could whip that pup into shape. (although I'd be looking for a new place to live)

Once dove hunting is legalized then you'll find plenty of places to hunt them. I assume there is no deer hunting in the city either?
