  1. Nope here is a link to the fenced in place, its under the 2009 section. http://www.wildernesswhitetails.com/ I remember that one from last year, it got passed around as a Maine kill..and people believed it.
  2. We float ours across too, that is actually the easiest part because they float quite well even with out the bags like Wooly did. We just hold on to the drag rope and let them swing downstream from us. Never had a problem with the water and parasites either, any thing you could pick up there would die when frozen or cooked. Our creek is 50 yards across and varies in depth depending on rain fall amounts from ankle deep to 10 feet.
  3. Yes Tax maps are great to utilize too if possible. I use them alot to find new spots and find out who owns what, every county differs in the programs they use for this also. Here is the state wide site to go from. http://www.orps.state.ny.us/
  4. I will take a down hill or side hill drag over a flat land one any day of the week. Especially if the flat land is rocky creek beds...I hate that spot! But its so damned good to me.. :-X We go over the creek beds through the sand and thick stuff and then acrossed a river and finish by having to hoist up over a 10 foot creek bank.
  5. I can give you a couple of deadly cats for the mice and house flies. As for the cluster flies, put out some vinegar in a cup and you will be fine.
  6. If your didn't they probably should have tried it...what they did obviously didn't work As my dad always says, He either stopped one beating short or else it was one too many of making me and my brother normal.
  7. Here is my Gus, he is a 9 month old German Wirehaired Pointer. Currently he is best at buggin the crap out of the kids but here are some shots of him sitting and staying for me. We are doing preety good with training and I plan on testing him in the spring with Navhda.
  8. My son loves that woodchuck one, he laughs at it every time its on.
  9. I have a Case that looks alot like the Kbar of Eddies, works great.
  10. I just wish you morons would type your insults a little better, with all of the jibberish and missed key strokes its hard to read them and make sense of them. At least we all found out what happens when a bunch of ego maniacs get together on one thread finally, : .
  11. We hunt outside of Richmondville, not a lot of deer but lots of space to rome. We hunt roughly 5-600 acres and its steep hilly terrain. You can go days with out seeing something but that could be just our spot. Usually when you do see one, there is a buck around it seems. My brother has taken some real nice ones there while still hunting including a few in the 115-136 range, I have not but thats because I care more about filling the freezer than I do about racks and rarely hunt there. This year we were chasing 3 good ones, my brother got one of them with the bow the other we think was taken with gun over the hill and the third is unaccounted for. There is plenty of pressure there and every thing else bad that could go on does but there are still deer around. It is also a great area for Turkey hunting, in fact my favorite spot for that. Good luck in your search!
  12. I don't think a country musician is on the same level as a trick shooter like Tom Knapp but I get what you are saying. It just surprised me that he would take such a long shot and that he also made it was something.
  13. LOL! Did you see the video of the homeless guy before he got a makeover...that was wierd hearing him talk and now this!
  14. Usually Geno that info is posted on the county's web site or you can find a listing if you went to the county's headquarters. I would call each county you were interested in and see how they do it as I'm sure each one is different. We bought our house after it went through foreclosure, we had a bid on it as it went in and they tried to auction it. In our case they had no luck and the bank had to re-list it any way but I went in to the county to see when it was going on the chopping block. We ended up buying it from the bank at about the same price we had offered the first time roughly 6 months prior.
  15. Do you guys even have winter on LI? lol jk
  16. Snakes! Well if it was warmer then you could shoot them snakes with your bow! haha I am going to try indoor shooting this winter just to break up the monotony.
  17. Not to stir the pot on this, did any one catch the show last night where the guy shot a Antelope at 96 yards free hand with his cross bow? It was on the Wildgame Inovations show and Craig Morgan was the guest who did it. He made a good shot and the thing only ran about 50 yards and keeled over.
  18. Here is my finish product and Gus saying hello. I can mark another job off my list and another career gets added to the Glad I didn't choose this one list.
  19. Yippie! We got about a foot from the last one but it was light stuff. Boy am I glad I left early Friday, I don't know what I am going to do on Wednesday, I hate to burn a day off for snow.
  20. You got me beat, we are half way through 400 sqaure feet of Hickory hardwood. Today was a long day but tomorrow will be realativly easy with just the livivng room left. Bye Bye carpet....hello hard wood. I'll post some pics of the finished product monday.
  21. I hear you on the commute, I too have a 100 mile round trip each day. Today I am leaving early because of snow, can't wait to creep home. : Some how the forcast changed from 1-3 inches to 6-14 at my house in two days??? I am used to it there, we are far enough north to see snow most times when others do not in my own area.
  22. I have one for you...WHY I LOVE ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. jk..haha
  23. Low was us only getting two with the bows, we have grown accustomed to filling the freezers with 4 or 5 before gun starts. This year was one of them years that we (I) just couldn't make it work. Weather deffinetly screwed us up too, with lots of rain comes flooding and our prime doe killing spot lays across a creek that rises way up leaving us unable to cross. That forced us into state land and that was not a bad thing as we found several new hot spots as a result. High was opening day, while many of you were tied to your trees in the winds my wife and I were a foot still hunting the hard woods. I managed to almost fall over as she was about to shoot a doe and spook it. That was all it took and my wife lost her calm and proceded to miss the doe twice, oh and I missed a real big doe at the same time. I wiffed big time because I was watching her out of the corner of my eye instead of aiming..ha We went on to see 12 deer that day including different groups of bedded down ones which we stalked in to 20-30 yards of but never could get a shot at. It was one of those days that I will remember and I am glad my wife was at my side. Another good day was when I read that steve863 had got a buck with his bow, I kinda talked him into going for the first time in years..good job buddy
  24. ah I see. I was shocked at how low my doe was laying in the field making it kinda tough to spot at first glance. The grass was @8 inches tall though. I suppose there are no laws against simply walking a dog, I was looking at it as more of a title for my dog but hey he would never know the difference.
  25. I have considered looking into the certification part with my dog but I do not want to be a part of deer search as those guys get calls probaly every day to go track one. I certainly do not have the time to devote to such a positive organization. I think their sucess rate is around 50% (?) which is good when you consider that 100% of the calls they get are from hunters who cannot find their game. It would be handy to have a dog at home waiting in the event of an emergency from a bad hit gone wrong. Phade I have a silly question, did you guys check the fields to be 100% sure the deer wasn't in one of them? I had a doe bed down and die in a field as the result of a liver hit this year. I about threw up when we hit the edge of the grassy field only to have my brother quickly spot her, it was a woderfull releif to say the least.
