  8. This bill is a tiny step in the right direction. Ny has more lawless than people who abide and the DEC is so understaffed they're absolutely anemic with regard to maintaining compliance with game laws. We should be appalled our hunting dollars do not grant better support of hunting laws. There is no reason why the penalties shouldn't be 10000$ each. Trespassing is another disgusting weakness. Licenses $100 and citations get negotiated to twice that if they ever get caught, cited and they stick- which is about 99.9% unlikely to happen Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. The point of every youth season is to sell more licenses in a manner similar to shrouding a skeleton in a new stylish coat. Per the deer report there is only like 2 kids per town doing it so there is no need to feel they have an impact... but wait, that would also mean they're finding no recruitment success with it as well.... hmm Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. 110v generators such as this inside of a room or closet (I use an eBay portable linen closet ) do a great interim washing. Ozone said does great for ground blond use but the battery units do not have the output or longevity for open air use and still leave your tracks in as is Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. I am going to take the 6% of the comments on this thread I like and call them enough to know how everyone feels. I must know everyone of the youths that took a deer based on those numbers and apparently antlers beyond the top of the ear is enough for an intern to call the buck 2.5 or older...won't be long for Mr.Hurst to call those NE Mature or chitlikadat I've found more facts in my kids' Dr.Suess books. Still haven't seen what the living population of animals is, or anything for that matter, that wasn't based off the 14000 deer they actually claimed to have seen..... maybe the IRS can start checking Wegman's receipts to determine income tax brackets. 12. Between the SB quote and the seafood; I have a man crush. Haha. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. There is no point in the youth season based on the changes in enrollment and (again) despite having kids with lifetime licenses i see more negatives than positives. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. General Tsao's Kitten in the "what's for dinner thread" Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. My wife and I used to compete with who could keep them on the phone the longest by only asking them questions- not answering theirs or using sentences.....only questions posed from our side. It was fun at times. We had other games like made up languages, number of times you can get them to repeat the whole Schtick, mock bathroom usage, start asking them about martial problems......another interesting one is ask where the call center is located and then pretend like you just applied there or used to work there (making up names). They're just folks trying to make living working a dead end job- rather have some fun than beat up the messenger. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. I swear I should name my plot here Curly Dock Acres.... just can't get rid of it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Based on the master hunter replies- either you're (again) retired or not considering work hours missed that could buy food. Pics or it didn't happen? What are you, 10? Should I ask your wife how she delivered? Pics or it didn't happen. Thanks for proving my points with your actions. Hope there wasn't milk left in the windpipe of the roast you just ate. 18. Totally agree. Would cringe if the DEC was the managing entity of those lands. As for the bigger premise- the two party system will guarantee failure no matter what side of the fence you're on and when you're there. Not saying more parties would be the answer but the law of averages should help it. Just mind blowing to me that someone could agree with one groups thoughts in their entirety. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. I do not shoot little bucks, or does for that matter. Glad you're a meat hunter. So am I. I butcher and prepare 6 deer a year for my family and would argue I can prepare better meals than most restaurants top top it off. If you can justify the cost of venison being worthwhile you : must be on public assistance, retired with no other outlets/interest or as good with finances as you are with hunting mature deer. This state, nor any, is supposed to hand out food....hunting is recreation. Glad the DEC has appeased you and let the rest of us down. Guessing you've been at this for a long time too, right? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. What I read here is many saying-"I don't know or care the age of a deer" and "I just like to shoot things and that's a skill, right?".... aka "Excuses" Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. Tactfully, I was just trying to point out many (?most) NY gun hunters are slobs who haven't even cared about knowing or following legal provisions. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Lots of good points here. Totally agree with Hurst only seeing numbers (though touting he is a Hunter was much like when John Kerry tried to the same result), they project the data the want and need to spin their end goals and of course their approach is only from 30,000 ft - local b:d ratios and other factors (even winter severity, living census, coyote numbers) are guess/lies at best. It was mighty nice of them to have last minute announcements on the when and where these were, limited time for q&a, quaint venues and ...oh yeah.. hold most of them during archery season.... They don't want your opinion, like with the SAFEACT, we all talk a big game but in NY we just get it jammed up our backsides. The DEC knows little to nothing about deer management from a hunters perspective, is fine with that if their uphill pressure is off and will keep throwing out glitter as long as our ranks are dumb enough to stay distracted by it. They're a failure to the herd and us as license buying consumers. Hell- this has been the only pro-deer hunting outreach attempt I can remember them even trying to do and that's with 45million$ annually in big game license sales. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. Tick key- eBay. Al Version beats plastic spoon style Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. Sunlight will be an issue could also Hinge cut for browse. How does it compare to the surrounding 1000 acres? Have your chunk offer the best of what's missing during fall. There will be a point where you have to prioritize your deer hunting versus other uses of the land. The right 50 beats the wrong 5000 every time. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  25. The part about ARs many want to ignore is the people who only shoot dinks will now be displaced to shooting nothing due to incompetence and impatience. The bigger issue, as stated by others, are these fine folks also break laws nonstop anyway so it's trying to dam a creek with water. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
