  1. Most every season is based on culture and not deer herd needs/health/balance. The DEC, especially the Hurst in Big Game, computes populations from algorithms and a very limited data set we should hope to be true. They have not idea what the actual population size is and manage more for negative impacts to human interactions via forest growth and car collisions. Think of all the license dollars taken in each year for deer hunting and what is done in return? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Only shed I've found this year despite 4 hours of walking Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I have tons and tons of turkey gear but I've also shot two in my lawn- one of which was being barked at by two labs from their side of the invisible fence. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Sports are competition based- that is an insult to the query and experiences we should be pursuing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. The DEC does not give a rats ass about the age of your deer- only some hunters do..... and most hunters in NY are as good at aging as they are at scoring racks [emoji849] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. What's mature to you? The first hunt is always the best. Maybe you have amazing ground, maybe you hunt a funnel during chase phase when the wind always coincides .... but that proclamation is a ballsy one. I pursue deer 4 and older (mature being 5 and older)- please share with us what we are missing using all this hard work and struggling. Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Ozone does a great job between washings- not a Believer in silver helping much- far more effort goes into keeping a clean mouth and minimizing skin rafts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Scout- find one- hunt him. No other way to do it and cannot missing one of those steps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Fencing works best- but that is an interesting labor intensive approach you've got going there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Per the DEC you must have permission or ownership for property you're on- active rail roads all have no trespassing signage and are protected by Govnt and Rail regulations. So - NO. If it wasn't a legit question- the answer is still NO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I think habitat and property management for many is like feeling they can out-chef Gordon Ramsey after making microwave popcorn. Sanctuaries in this thread must be brought to you by the same geniuses that came up with Gun and Drug Free Zone signage. A sanctuary is an area where deer cannot see, smell or hear you- NOT and area you call a No No Zone and then molest with cams, stands, tower blind building things or your presence in anyway. Aren't we do for some d bag spilling a bag of corn and saying he made a food plot thread, now? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Incident not accident. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Middlemen aren't necessarily professionals at anything- they got there before you did. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Spend at least as much on a scope and mounting gear as you did the gun and base the size on your hunting exposures/needs not what some pro from HNY mutters is the best. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Keep us poated Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. In western NY Summit is only about a year old. My bad. Also has back pad and original seat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Easily one of the coolest and best threads ever on this forum! Outstanding and thank you so much for sharing. Wish i could've had you mount mine this yr Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Senderos are awesome guns- have one and had another... nothing I'd like to lug around more than needed though. To compare a 25-06 to a 257 is a joke- they're not the same. They don't have the same trajectory or terminal performance (real world). Own a 257, had a 25-06 and (have or had) a number of other calibers. The argument on shell cost is also a moot point. Neither caliber is something you'll buy to bench plink 2500 rounds out of in a life time. Find someone who sold their 257 for an 06 that doesn't suffer from a mental disorder. There is no one out there. The 25 is a fine caliber- great gun in like a tikka t3... but the 257 is a whole 'nother beast Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Bucks!

We eat more venison than you- everyone that's hunts deer is a meat hunter. Work more and hunt less if funds are that tight. Btw - learning to cook will help your tablefare far more than shooting natures children. Excuses aren't necessary- just say you don't have the skills, drive, patience and self control... save us the rhetoric on how you're doing the best you can. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Bucks!

Making the point that NYs deer harvest is almost entirely composed of deer 2.5 and younger... people taunt here that they know of all these great bucks posted but only 4 made this thread. We don't lack genetics- just hunters with self control. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
