Was going to do the same- and the more you look the more youll see it is not the way to go cheapest- buy a beat up one (or finisher) and have a different wheel mechanism welded on to make multiple cuts starting high>low KUnz and DR are the only ones that are supposed to last and perform

Gotta love deer in areas without the gun pressure! Congrats!
-
Sounds like a pinch point to me

scent is NOT necessary for a mock scrape (AT ALL!). Location and then a suitable licking branch and loose soils....find a hard edge and make a 3' diameter circle below a shoulder high branch. BTW- deer check some of them all year long, others are strictly breeding related- think of them as Facebook for whitetails scrapes are great fr cam inventory but hunting them is a totally different story

Its funny- i would say little ridge is the best but honestly most suck...two of those mentioned are all about selling more...learn to do it yourself and buy the stuff online- or buy new strings and find a buddy with a press....
-
FACT; Theyll all be bigger if they dont get killed
-
some of the nicest, clear distinct cam pics i have seen. bravo!

Awesome pictures!!!!

yes- to buy a Sendero speaking of Rems.... Have bought and sold many on there....good place beware of people without ratings and have a good FFL established here before buying
-
It was a good book....but a few better ones out there....and many better ideas than that...bringing deer to you doesnt work well often
-
Tail up is a warning and whether he showed it or not- guessing he was letting the other deer know something was askew
-
Gotta love NY- I am with ya josephmrtn- i rather forget a weapon than my binos.... Then again, I glass all year long....good thing you didnt bring up observation stands or raking trails for tracks...lol

I dont think the DEC qualifies to teach this, especially in regards to big game animals

I doubt most peopel even know the caliber of bucks on their ground let alone what could be there. Been doing the management deal since 99- can be a big burden and your neighbors will profit and screw you BUT it is so worth it.....dont drive/push and just hunt the fringe (whether 5 or 5000 acres) and you'll never look back
-
Agree with a few of the above- seems way behind last year but there are some studs being posted online...personally feeling we are a month behind last year in terms of the growth periodand last year had some magic this year doesnt for most
-
It appears theyre not fans of your camera being there
-
Pattern shift ahead- hopefully you keep some of them....and youre the first guy i have ever heard of that has 9 target bucks in wNY- make the oldest your only target. Nice deer nonetheless

Stellar bachelor group. Trying to figure out if that is a giant in the background of the last picture posted in the first round. Great pictures to have but i would advise your buddy to back off a bit if youre blowing fields out like that. Get farther back and aim for the only deer picture that really counts.....

cool pic. does are more territorial than bucks especially with fawns and just before giving birth. It actually leads to issues with big food sources where they can see each other

There are so many reasons to plant plots but the big ones SHOULD be to: increase herd health or create usable movements for a hunting scenario. The idea of kill plots and 200" Booners is not conducive of reality as most of our wives dont look like Tiff and there arent 200000 acres at our disposal. There are a few guys who get it in terms of laying out a property to establish a herd or likely movement/circuit to hunt. The vast majority do not. One should build on what they lack between- food, water and bedding. The orientation of each, and social interaction components should be based on stand sites w unpressured access/egress. You will not copete with the farmer next door, Iowa has bigger bucks than NY for the nutrients in their soils. You can see county-county and town to town variance as much as state by state...so forget the idea youre going to make the lil guys you normally see into giant (age is what you need not to mention you need to build your soils which is where everyone cheaps out). Hunt a food plot itself and you will have nocturnal feeding. So plant things that fill in the gaps that nature and the neighboring farmers have, give deer the bedding (which matters WAY more than food) and water and dont beat on it with pressure and VIOLIA- you will have some bigger bucks, more fawns and happier/healthier deer.

crazy to think that was a 150" last year... this is a goofy year for growth but i just dont see it
