yup she's gone. nice meeting you bill. -
my years are far too young compared to others on here to foresee things with such wisdom. that said a pinto doe would make a hunter shake so bad the arrow would be off its mark. little joe and hoss both are likely to be hit by it. twice. idk how but twice.
-
here i thought brindle was a rarity. i think pinto has brindle beat for piebald deer.

the one buck is mature despite it doesn't have a jaw dropping large rack.

it depends some for whatever reason do when they get all rutted up. injury, stress, idk. I've had bucks up to 5.5 years old though and couldn't tell any difference between that and another buck. could imagine the getting bucks 5.5+ yrs old every year around here whether on cam or to hunt. it takes a lot to keep the whole town at bay once one turns 3.5 or 4.5 yrs old. lol

Sorry for delay. Semi-live. Was on phone working out logistics to give a butchering seminar to the new hunters we're mentoring under QDMA. Doe went down in sight. Thankful though to find my arrow in the thick stuff she was in. No lighted nock but still expensive, especially with a titanium broadhead. lol Pulled her out to a spot with some room to work. Target bow is a bit long for treestand work but worked just fine as my backup! It's broken in! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk- 9790 replies

Hunting next to the gun club. On a point loaded with acorns. Couple draws converging together in front of me. Seems like a good funnel. Corn just up the hill to the east. Had to crop out the GPS coordinates. That was a close one. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk -
people are more focused on sex ratio but in reality buck age structure in a local herd is just as important. you need bucks closer to maturity as feasible to regulate breeding ecology. as you mentioned while the young bucks pointlessly run around long before and after breeding, still not getting attention of doe. once doe start to come into estrous do to photo period, mature bucks are responding in efficient fashion, and more doe follow suit. it starts a natural chain reaction and the herd involuntarily knows it's that time of the year again.

i've hunted Oklahoma and other places were baiting is legal in the past. honestly i've had better luck without hunting over bait. seems in those places they know where it came from. same as a mature buck won't just run out into the middle of a field without being cautious and looking things over first to give him a reason.

the least that should happen is they file a complaint about the sidewalk. then something is on record. how that happens i don't know but it can be figured out easily enough. free consultation should sort that out i'd think. i do believe that age isn't necessarily an excuse. they know they have to be careful. luckily they didn't dislocate or break something to make it worse.

turkey and travel the same trails as other wild game animals of any size. coyotes will visit and sniff around any place that's gotten deer activity. studying up on their food. hunted in a spot were baiting was legal. coyote came into the corn pile, sniffed around, and then hid in the bushes downwind of it. blew my mind. would've shot it but didn't have a clear shot by the time the bow was ready. so the answer is yes they will but not for the same reasons or specifically for the scrape itself.

another head that's been around for years. just have to understand how they work. good luck. hope you stick something with them.

good video that touches on a lot that i learned over the years.
-
congrats on the bear and kid. it'll be a busy fall.

i just picked these up in 320 spine. that's music to my ears. i hate HIT inserts but was willing to deal with them buying the FMJ arrows.

attachment for me is up over my head with the rope style. i keep it so i'm out of length when sitting with a slight lean so i literally can't really fall out when sitting. if i have deer coming in on my off side it takes fractions of a second to give me more length and set the knot for extra assurance with just the one release hand. if it's out front or on my left (right handed) i don't have to touch it sitting. when i stand i've got a little more length as you would with any other strap. with the recurve i noticed i had to get away from the seat more if a close shot so the limbs didn't make contact so the rope style helps there too.

congrats again on the spike bob. i think it's probably not the last with that bow. i only use a rope style treestrap with prusik knot. another thing i've figured out is even with bending at the waist it seems more awkward shooting a trad bow from a treestand vs a compound. you're used to practicing from the ground which is a bit different.
