They are beautiful Zeb....1000 spots on one fish...They are also the best tasting rainbows I have ever eaten, but that may have been because of WHERE I was when I was eating them...

I could practically live on that stuff Back when we were doing our DIYAlaska hunts we would prepack lunches for every day..Jerky and trail mix....each hunter would have a pre packed Ziploc bag for every day we would hunt... Breakfast was instant oatmeal...Supper was the big meal of the day and was often eaten after dark....Staples were dried pasta/ noodle mixes, plus a few freeze dried meals for variety...We were very fortunate and always had meat within the first couple of days...Moose and caribou are wonderful in camp...Also on some of the trips we had fishing nearby ….Leopard rainbows, dolly vardens and graying made a nice change of pace.....

This guy lives far north of the Arctic Circle...They are kind of short of veggies up there....They get essential vitamins by eating the stomach contents of the vegetarian animals they kill...They also need and crave fat..While George was butchering a caribou, he would slice off pieces of the raw fat and pop them in his mouth for snacks...Different world...

Reeses cups, almond joy, Payday....Fried Spam sandwiches...Years ago when I hunted PA I did all day sits on opening day...If I had been successful in NY I would always take sliced deer heart sandwiches for opening day in Pa... Every part feeds a part...

Took my limit of six greys...Saw 4 blacks but no shots at them...Also saw about a dozen fresh scrapes...

I was up on the property squirrel hunting yesterday and I discovered a nice, new, expensive looking climbing stand hooked to a tree within sight of my food plot...A couple of people do have permission to bowhunt the property, but I don't believe they have hunted it yet... I left a note attached to the stand with my phone number, asking to have the owner call me and identify themselves OR to remove the stand and stay off the property... If I don't get a response, I'll start checking the property at dawn and dusk hoping to catch someone hunting the stand...

My main interest in sports is whether any of my numbers hit on the boards....

I don't have a drinking problem....I drink....I get drunk....I take a nap....No problem....

People often ask me why I drink....

Holy crap, Larry....That has me salivating....Cigars sound great too !! It might be WORTH dying for !!

By the way, I have never eaten kidneys, but I have heard that they are very good as long as you boil the piss out of them..

I love liver and heart....Fresh venison liver fried in bacon fat with onions is one of my very favorite meals, and I am very fond of the heart cooked several different ways, including parboiled and pickled.. However, I draw the line at brains and glands....I ain't eating no brains, testicles, or sweetbreads ( thymus glands)…. Eating squirrel brains is very popular in some of the more southern states..A Navy buddy from West Virginia told me that he intentionally took lung shots rather than head shots on squirrels because he liked to eat the brains.. Thoroughly cooked, they are probably safe, but the link between mad cow disease and squirrel brains has been known for quite a few years now..

Steely Dan...That's what the local girls used to call me... Now they call me " Danglin' Dan"...…<<sigh>>….

If I were a cat and you had me trimmed like that, I'd rip your throat out while you were sleeping...Hehehe...

Great horned owls love skunks...Being birds they have little if any sense of smell... I also suspect that a coyote would have no qualms about eating a skunk.... DAMN....Some of those dudes in San Francisco trailer parks will probably MISS that anal probing...

Didn't your Mom tell you that if you didn't stop doing that you'd go blind ?

Welcome aboard, Partner ! If you have been hunting 50 years we must be close to the same age....Always good to have another reloader here...It's fun to talk about guns, loads, or anything firearms related...We have some experienced handloaders here, although I consider myself somewhat of a duffer..I have done some load development for the rifles I hunt with, but I don't get too technical..When I find a combo that gives acceptable hunting accuracy and performs well on game, I tend to stick with it..

Frost warning here tonite, Jeff...I just had a couple of shots of Jack ( chased with Genny Lite) as a precaution...

I cannot imagine any one hunting deer when they could be hunting ducks... Good job, Jay...- 10374 replies

NEVER !! One thing I don't leave home without... Not since that one time when I came home without any socks...
-
Snapping 2 or 3 caps through it is very important...By doing that I have managed to go 40 years or so with only one failure to fire, and that was after I had the rifle loaded for several days...

Wrap some absorbent cloth like cotton gauze around the bait pan of a rat trap and secure it with wire , fishing line or whatever.. Work peanut butter into the gauze so it is saturated... Mr. Squirrel will not be able to just lick the PB off, and will have to work harder to get it all, increasing the chances of him tripping the trap...

Hmmm....Tioga is just down the road from me, about 20 minutes away....I have never hunted there, but the last I knew it was more like 200 acres....Perhaps they have made a recent real estate purchase, and become the NEW ZEALAND of north central PA...
