  1. The .30 carbine round is relatively underpowered...In Korea, at often subzero temps and shooting at people wearing heavy clothing, the fault was compounded, and there were many accounts of enemy soldiers taking multiple hits with a carbine and staying on their feet... With the Garand, chambered for 30-06, it only took one solid torso hit and down goes the gook... Hehehe..Reminds me of a song lyric, to the tune of " I'm Movin' On".... " There's a thousand gooks coming through the pass, playin' burp gun boogie all over my ass I'm movin' on....I'll soon be gone... Well it ain't no joke when your M1's broke, I'm movin' on..."
  2. Cousin Eddie....One of my role models, along with Al Bundy and Norm Peterson....
  3. I didn't mean to bad mouth the carbine....It did a great job at what it was designed for...Many hundreds of thousands of very dead enemy combatants would attest to that, if they could....
  4. It would be very challenging to shoot good scores at any distance over 50 yards with an M1 carbine... Long range accuracy is not that weapon's forte...Portability and firepower IS , at the expense of accuracy and stopping power... An old ( now departed) friend of mine served in Korea during the Korean conflict...He was a lineman and carried a carbine, but he said if he had ever got into a hot combat area he would be trying hard to swap it off for a Garand....
  5. I combed it out of my.....well...err.. Never mind...
  6. Hehehe...Reminds me of one of my old hobbies...Collecting female pubic hair.. Over a period of about a year I dated 4 Anglo girls and collected enough to fill a Ziploc Snack bag.. Then I dated an Italian girl and in 3 months I had enough to stuff 4 sofa pillows...
  7. Hmmmm..Is your significant other an Italian girl, by any chance ?
  8. A classic rifle in a classic chambering....The forunner of the M700...<<sigh>>…. Unfortunately, I'm in a position where I should be getting rid of guns rather than accumulating more..<<sigh>>…..
  9. Fish have not been biting worth a s**t …. I was laid up with the flu for about 10 days.... The Mermaid is whipping my butt with domestic chores....Gotta go mow the lawn right now for about the 100th time this season... Need any more info ?...hehehe....
  10. If it weren't for pee, I'd no longer have any use for my penis...
  11. True, but he was no match for my ex-wife....<<cringe>>…...
  12. Back in my former life, my ex wife always insisted on having a doggie door so our dogs and cats could run in and out of the basement at will....Of course the cats loved to bring live critters into the house and then liberate them...Kinda like they were STOCKING the house with mice, chipmunks, etc. One night I heard a high pitched squealing in the bedroom..I turned on the light and got up to investigate, buck ass naked, of course.. There was a WEASEL running around in the bedroom... After putting on some britches, I cornered the varmint in the master bedroom...Wife held a big paper grocery bag, and I put on heavy leather gloves and grabbed the weasel and dropped it in the sack...Took him for a ride a few miles away and dropped him off in a wooded area, no worse for the wear..
  13. Hey two seventy...Welcome back !! Sorry if I hurt your feelings last year...It was nothing personal, just a figure of speech... Sometimes I'm just an old meanie...Probably the booze or the drugs...
  14. The " Gordon Lightfoot" of Clarence center....
  15. It's like American Express..I don't leave home without it !
  16. My grandfather used to put out set lines for eels on the Chemung River near Corning, back before the dams on the Susquehanna blocked their passage upstream... Back when I was a mere wisp of a lad, we used to catch an eel now and then when we were fishing the river for bullheads..As I remember it, they tasted very similar to bullheads when fried...
  17. That was ME you were quoting, Bio...I have said many times, pizza is not real food, it's something you eat when you are hungry and there is no REAL food ( like fried chicken) available....
  18. A 40 pound coon..?? Possible, I suppose, but I weighed quite a few years back when I was hunting and trapping them and the heaviest I recall weighed 30 pounds, and he was a big one... I guess I would compare it to all of those 200 plus ( dressed) bucks out there....There are a few genuine ones, but the great majority were weighed with the thumb and eyeball rather than a set of accurate scales..
  19. I had a couple of Rangers and they did well by me....Survived a 70 MPH wreck with my last one...Got it repaired ( for 5K) and drove it another 100 thousand miles...
  20. I studied gynecology for awhile but I had to give it up...I was developing tunnel vision...
