Enjoy your walk in the woods...If you even see a DEER you will be lucky.... But ya never know...You may shoot a slammer...Or a bear...
-
I admit to having no experience hunting with handguns, but my experience loading for my rifles I would lean toward the bonded bullet, to get some expansion and hold together, but not OVEREXPAND so much as to impede penetration, as a hollow point might..

A buddy of mine witnessed a fox trying to take down a fawn early this summer...Small fawn... He had his 30-06 handy...Fox had a bad day.. I'd turn him in to TIP, but for the life of me I can't remember his name or where he lives...

I offer my most sincere condolences, John....

Look at your picture, Biz...There are several tops lying there with the acorns.. Perhaps the deer in Putnam County are retarded...hehehe...- 10374 replies

LIVE From The Woods 2018 - Lets hear stories and see some pictures!

They look like white oak acorns to me, Biz, and the deer eat the HELL out them, as do turkeys, squirrels and other woodland critters...They MUCH prefer them over those fat boy red oak acorns...- 10374 replies

If it is a 1903, any serial number over 810,000 is considered safe …. If it is an 03-A3, no problem....
-
1903 Springfields were only made in 30-03 ( very rare) and 30-06.....Chances are extremely high it is a 30-06...However, many 03s were sporterized and re-chambered or re-barreled for numerous other calibers..The safest thing to do is take it a gunsmith and have him confirm it's proper chambering, before you fire it..Good luck with it...1903s are fine old firearms.....

Good luck to all of you stick flingers !!….

I'll send you back another Karnak the Magnicificant quote... " May a crazed electrician hot wire your sister"....Hehehe...

What ?.....

The biggest boar I ever shot weighed 100 lb dressed...The meat was good, but not great..You could tell it was a boar... My buddy shot a 175 dry sow in the same place...It was EXCELLENT !! The rest of the piggies I shot were 40 pounds or less..They were very tasty...

OR of you are in Val D'or, say " Voulez-vous a HUMMA HUMMA"......
-
A friend of mine had one that I shot at his camp in Pa mounted for me, as a joke ( antler mount)... It has twin horns, but they measure 2 3/4".....OOPS !!….Hopefully the statute of limitations has expired....
-
Most of my local friends call me " Clarkie".... It has become a standing joke that when they see a tiny scrub rack, half rack or busted up rack they refer to it as a " Clarkie buck".... Probably a PERFECT Clarkie buck would be a one horned spike, and I've shot a few of those...Hehehe...

I have a pair of Leica 8x42s that I pad $1000 for about 20 years ago... Yes, they are a little large and heavy, but they are ALWAYS with me when hunting deer or turkeys... Back when I was hunting Alaska, the western US and northern Canada, they were invaluable....They still work fine for my local hunting..
-
I can't see mixing perfectly good whiskey with soda pop....Perhaps on the rocks...Better yet, sipped straight and chased with beer or water... The very BEST water I have ever chased it with was from ice cold Alaska springs, sitting beside the tent at spike camp and watching caribou feeding across the hill above me....

I like girls...Does that make me a traditional guy ?
-
Heck yes....I have done that with all my guns that I took into Canada...No big deal and once you do it for a firearm, the cert is good indefinitely... I HAVE been asked a couple of times for the cert when I came back into the US..It proves that the firearm that you possess is the same one that you took into Canada...US customs does not give a rat's ass about Canadian documentation...

I don't shoot fawns....I don't shoot does with really SMALL fawns... I don't shoot antlered bucks that are physically smaller than average does... Other than that, it's open season...Spikes and 4 points are fine as long as they look like they'll dress out 110 to 120 lbs, which is the size of an average 1 1/2 year old buck around here...Half racks are fine...I don't have room for any more trophies...I sold a bunch of quality shoulder mounts after my divorce simply because I no longer had the room to display them...I do like venison, and try to put a couple in the freezer each year... Last year I passed up several antlered bucks because when I first saw them they looked liked fawns..Probably would not have dressed out at 100 pounds..

The mush mouthed sissy assed bastard was CRYING on the stand.... More proof he didn't do it...He doesn't HAVE a pair.... Instead of all of that whiny ass drivel that he dispelled, he could have made 3 brief statements " I didn't do it"... " PROVE that I did it"... " **** you and all of these Democrat leeches sitting here licking their chops"... -
Did she stay for chicken and bisquits ?

" Sally's Strange Vacation " is a favorite of mine.. Just be sure you don't get carried away and fall out of your stand...

I never heard a Lynch Foolproof that did not render realistic yelps... The World Champion is good too, but the Foolproof is a bit more user friendly. IMHO..... I currently have 14 box calls and my favorite is a custom box made by Bob Harwell in South Carolina...It is a double sided box with a black walnut striker and butternut sides... Bob apprenticed with Neil " Gobbler" Cost, one of the most famous box call makers in the country, and his box calls are basically clones of Neil's calls...

" For Whom the Bell Tolls".....Hemmingway.....My favorite novel....Close second " To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harpur Lee...
