  1. I remember back in the 1960's you could buy a couple of different models of 20 MM anti-tank rifles through the mail...One I recall was the Lahti, and I believe the shells were about 3 or 4 bucks apiece...Clint Eastwood used a surplus anti-tank rifle in the movie " Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" to blow open a bank vault..

  3. I'm still wearing my full body suit that one of my Italian girlfriends knitted me from her pubic hair... My only complaint is that cats keep following me around in the woods.
  4. Okay Stormy...I don't intend to argue this all night....Certainly he may have lost his balance and stumbled...Still, I don't think that equates to being " knocked off his feet" by sheer energy alone... I'll let the FOOT POUNDS OF ENERGY boys believe what they want to believe, and I'll stand by what I have witnessed from seeing a few hundred game animals killed over the last 50 years...
  5. He certainly reacted to the shot, But I wouldn't say he was knocked off his feet...He did a jump and then a roll... I have never shot a bear, but have seen a couple shot and watched some videos, and they tend to react violently to a hit from a bullet OR an arrow,,
  6. Hope the poor guy gets laid...That will help clear up those zits....
  7. No shoulder fired chambering is going to "knock a bear off his feet"...unless you hit the CNS or break down the shoulders... A 20 MM might do it.... Same goes for deer and other medium to big game animals...Those who think that you can "knock down" a game animal with energy are full of shit... HIT or perhaps "come close to" the CNS and shoulders and the animal goes down..Other than that, with a vital hit, such as a double lung or heart shot, the animal will usually go a short distance, but not very far..
  8. Happy Birthday, Jarheads !! I just watched "Full Metal Jacket" again last night... Thanks for your service despite the fact that you were miserable pricks at the gate on the Navy Base....<<grin>>….
  9. My uncle Charley worked at the Kentucky Royalty Hosiery Company....His job title was Sock tucker.... My uncle Herb worked at the local barrel bunging factory...His job title was Cork Socker…. My uncle Bruce worked in a bath house in San Francisco….Not sure what his job title was.... My
  10. Hmmmm..I have never been ANYWHERE in NYS where there was not a natural water source within a mile or less... I know the post was humor, but it got me thinking...I really can't think of anyplace I have ever been in the northeast where there an issue with game finding water, except maybe in winter when many sources are frozen...Out west.. Hell YES...It is not uncommon for game animals such as elk to travel 8-10 miles ( one way) daily for water...
  11. He be a HAWG !!...Congrats, young feller !!…….
  12. I'm planning to hunt tomorrow..Could you send the wife down to check me out ?...THANKS, Good Budddy !!
  13. Good choice, Chef....I like classic old chamberings...They work, too.... There's not much in big game hunting that cannot be done very effectively with the 7x 57, 8 x 57, or 30-06, all of which have been around for over 100 years...
  14. I want to sit on Moog's deck with my rifle...Perhaps Mrs Moog could bring me cocktails and appetizers while I'm there..... Actually however, I would gladly share Moog's deck with Grampy and Nomad...We could take turns shooting big bucks while the LOVELY Mrs. Moog waited on us in one of those cute little " hostess" uniforms....
  15. Tags are in my wallet, backtag clipped on my daypack...Except for turkey season..I don't carry a pack turkey hunting since my turkey vest doubles as my pack...I put the backtag on the vest...Sometimes I forget to transfer the backtag and hunt without it for a week or two or three... Oh well......
  16. I always use foam earplugs out of my tower blind...Never seemed overly loud, but my blind doesn't have an overhang like yours... My hearing is pretty bad already..Hate to lose any more of it..
  17. Is that your deer season or your love life....<<SMILE>>...
  18. If he was a president in South America, he probably had if coming...Just sayin'....
  19. I want to get back to hovering over sunbathing females....Make sure they are at least 18, tho... That's how that that last little sweetheart got me in trouble...She SWORE she was 18....<<sigh>>...
