Decoy setups work great when you get a steady pick of singles and doubles, because you can kill most of the crows that come in. If you get 20 crows into the spread at once, you may kill 2 or 3, but you educate the rest of them.. The slow pick makes for much more efficient hunting.. Back in the daywhen I hunted them a lot in feeding setups, we always kept calling to a minimum ( hand calls) and let the decoys do most of the work.. Works well when you are fortunate enough to have a steady stream of " customers" passing within sight of the decoy spread...We also used to set up the dead crows as decoys to increase the size and drawing power of our spread...Thanks for sharing..Brings back memories.. I used to kill lots of crows, but now I feed them table scraps in my back yard...Hehehe...

Whether you like the NRA or not, the NRA is THE biggest reason that we still have the gun rights that we still have in this country... Plenty around, Chas...I have not seen one in this area either, but have seen several local trail cam picts and talked to local trappers who have caught and released them.. A friend who lives on 415 near Campbell has been getting trailcam picts of a pair on his property this winter...

Murder ?.... Stranger things have happened...I remember a few years back near Albany a fellow shot and killed his significant other's son with a bow and claimed he mistook him for a deer...An investigation indicated that there was bad blood between the shooter ( a police officer) and the victim, and he was subsequently charged with murder...I don't recall hearing the results of the trial.... Maybe one of our members who lives out that way remembers it..

I concur with Curdmudgeon ( DANG that almost RHYMES) that the hawk looks like a Cooper's....Adding to the confusion between Cooper's and Sharp Shinned, the females are bigger than the males, so a female sharpie might be almost as big as a male Cooper's...Kinda like Russian women...Hehehe...

A buddy and I went to one in Grand Junction, Colorado a couple of times...It was a pleasant diversion after rambling around in the mountains for ten days or so chasing mule deer.. I can't remember what I had to eat... My nephew managed a Hooters in Vancouver, B.C. for a period of time...He came home for a few days once and brought a couple of his co-workers with him...That was cool....Hehehe...
