  1. Yeah, they booted me out of the Legion at about 2:00 PM....I had to leave HALF a beer on the bar !! I understand they also had some ice jam flooding in the Cameron Mills area on the Canisteo...
  2. Any 5 shot mag made for the M1 US .30 Cal carbine should work fine...It will be an aftermarket because as far as I know the military issue ones are all either 15 or 30 shot...Good luck, Moho !
  3. 5 shot mags for the M1 carbine are available from many sources...Midway or Brownells would be a couple of good places to check. I just did a quick google search and found them on ebay for $9 plus shipping...
  4. Is she legal ? If so, is she in season ?
  5. The title of this thread got MY attention....Hehehehe.......
  6. This is an easy one for me....From Tom Kelly's " The Tenth Legion", regarding turkey hunting.. " If you persevere, you will eventually kill a few turkeys that you do not deserve....However, if that same time, you will DESERVE a lot more turkeys that you do not kill.." Or words to that effect.....hehehe....Truer words have never been spoken....
  7. Many years ago, in a galaxy far away, my father in law, who was dairy farmer, offered me some corned beef that he had made himself... He wasn't exactly a gourmet beef guy...He milked Holsteins , and if one of those old black and white grannies slipped on the ice in the barnyard and SPLIT herself, that was his beef.... He had perhaps a 40 gallon crock in his dug cellar... He fished around in the crock and brought up the ugliest looking piece of beef I had ever seen..I could not tell which part of the cow it had come from.. I took it home and cooked it up and it was the best corned beef I ever had... Since then, I have made corned venison that tasted pretty good, but I never have had any better corned beef..
  8. Boyd's makes a good product..My buddy in Ontario bought a walnut one for one of his Garands and it is a beauty...Not all that expensive either, as I recall, although it was a few years ago..
  9. Odd that the eagle would kill the owl and not eat it...Perhaps someone interrupted him before he got started on his meal..
  10. I'll only list stuff I have killed, excluding a couple of targets of opportunity that I shot at and did not kill (wolf and wolverine).. Varmints....Red squirrel, chipmunk, woodchuck, red and grey foxes, and coyotes, jack rabbits, porcupines, prairie dogs, opposuums... Small game...Grey, black and fox squirrels, cottontail rabbits, snowshoe rabbits, raccoons... Birds.....crows, pigeons, doves, ducks of many species, Canada and whitefronted geese, woodcock, snipe, gallinules, rails, coots, ruffed grouse, blue grouse, ringneck pheasants, bobwhite quail, and lots of starlings and sparrows... Medium and big game....feral hogs, pronghorn antelope, whitetail deer, mule deer, 3 different subspecies of caribou, two different subspecies of moose, Rocky Mountain elk.... Probably a few other critters along the way that I can't remember at the moment..All legal, of course.... Oh yeah...and TURKEYS, how could I forget THEM ? I have only ever shot one subspecies, though..Eastern...
  11. Looks just like my Dad's....You didn't PEE in it, did you ??...Hehehehe..

    Iced gold

NICE !! PM on the way....
  13. I haven't commented because I have no experience with them... As far as optics go, I tend to KISS....Simple crosshairs or plex type reticules are all I have ever needed.. My hunting rifles are basically PB to 300 yards and about a foot low at 400, which is as far as I prefer to shoot, and I have good luck on game, with fixed power 4X scopes all the way out to 400.. My highest mag scope is a 2x7 and most of my scopes are either fixed 4x or fixed 6X...
  14. I still have my Dad's carbide light...It looks just like the smaller one in the photo.. Has a little hook on it for attaching it to your hat or coat.. One of my Dad's coon hunting buddies used one for years..You had to put water in it to form the gas from the carbide "rocks"...When his light ran low on water, he would pee in it...Dad used to give him hell because of the smell...Hehehehe..
  15. I hope to get out after some bunny wabbits with my buddy and his three beagles this week...Hehehehe...
  16. There are plenty of them here in the southern tier....I'd love to be able to shoot them legally... Of course, I am not a deer farmer obsessed with antlers...
  17. Anyone get one yet ?? I saw them advertised on he AHC channel and thought it was a spoof at first, but I guess it's real... It might make a nice companion to my Spiro Agnew watch.... I should order one and have it sent to my ex-wife..She thinks Bill Clinton was our greatest president....Hehehehe...
  18. He starred in a lot of films, including McLintock with John Wayne...He was funny as the assistant coach in the series COACH... he was a little heavier than his brother Dick, but you could see the family resemblance in their facial features...
  19. RIP...Funny guy....He was Dick Van Dyke's brother...
  20. Pizza isn't real food...It's only something to eat if you are hungry and there is no real food available....
  21. OOOOPS !! Wet cleanup in Pygmy's skivvies !!.....
  22. I LOVE black + tans !!....The big male is even barking TREED !!
  23. Woast wabbit....Hehehehehe.... Had a couple left in the freezer from last winter and wanted to cook them up to make room for a few fresh ones...Weather is predicted to moderate next week and the beagles are raring to go...
  24. Dang !! The neighbor lady has been wondering where her "toy" disappeared to...I'll have to tell her that Jake has it..
  25. If you are the kind of hunter who really cares about antlers, it seems kind of silly to shoot a smoker buck when he does not have his headgear.... I have shot a lot of one horn bucks, but I have never trophy hunted whitetails or had a "hit list" buck....
