    Reloader 23

I have no experience with it. I HAVE loaded RL22 for quite awhile, both for my .280 and my buddy's .300 Win mag, and have not had any issues...
  2. I attest to the sensitivity of the female nose... I learned that quickly when I tried to sneak a smoke or a shot of whiskey on The Mermaid...<<sigh>>...
  3. As soon as deer season is over I intend to work up a load for my newly acquired 30-06. I intend to try 150 grain bullets first, since that is what I load for my M1 Garand and it appeals to me to use the same bullet in both rifles. I have a fair supply of RL 15 on hand because I burn it in two of my other hunting rifles. Has anybody had any experience loading RL 15 in the 30-06 with 150 grain bullets ?
  4. Many states, including NY and Pa, had bounties on many different "varmints" years ago. I remember when PA paid a $5 bounty on great horned owls and Alaska and several western states paid bounties on eagles.Elmer Keith once said that the .270 Win was a good eagle rifle. My buddy in Juneau Alaska, who worked most of his life as a commercial fisherman, used to shoot bald eagles for a $50 bounty. He still refers to them as "white headed buzzards" About 50 years ago, the states came to the realization that bounties did no good and were a waste of the taxpayers money.. Now they have figured out many OTHER ways to waste our money !
  5. Unique has been around for many years, at least 50 or 60... It is used in shotgun and handgun loads, and also for small capacity centerfire rifle cases like .22 hornet or 25-20 and also for reduced and cast bullet loads for larger centerfires.
  6. Hesselson's in Elmira Heights just had Leupold VXII 3x9s on sale for $189...That's a lot of scope for the money..I realize that NYC is a long way from Elmira, but perhaps there are some similar sales going on down your way..Some of those NYC camera outlets have some good prices in scopes at times.. Good luck.
  7. Oops....Open mouth....Insert foot....
  8. Be VEWY,VEWY quiet.....I'm hunting WABBITS....Hehehehehe....
  9. Easy....I'd hunt out of a stable stand, either ground or elevated with a rifle, hopefully with a possibility of some relatively long shots.. Then after I got some meat, I'd go do something fun, like fishing, bird or waterfowl hunting or small game hunting. Now if I lived in an area where I could effectively hunt mostly by glassing/spot stalking, I'd be more interested in deer hunting.
  10. I feel bad for the guy who lost the deer. However, I don't think there is any doubt that the person who found it is the rightful owner of the rack. Who knows what his reason is for not wanting to sell it to the person who believes he killed it ? I'd say that it is his business.. Personally, I don't think it's worth getting too upset over a silly hunk of calcium, but that's just my opinion.
  11. Cool you got to see him...I had the same thing happen to me a few years back ! That one did not make it to the next year, however...He went out the side of the brushlot and a neighbor shot him ...<<grin>>...
  12. I think I may have few .270 casings kicking around, but they may have been loaded more than once..I'll check it out and PM you.
  13. It is a fatter case, Larry.....Fully capable of matching .280 rem ballistics...Probably a couple hundred FPS over 7MM08 velocities with 140 grain bullets...
  14. I'm planning to spend Saturday morning in PA. I have a buck tag and 2 doe tags there..If things are slow I'll drive back home (1/2 hour) and spend the evening watching my food plot here in NY.. If I still have a tag I'll do the evening watch again Sunday in NY and then break out the old mud dozer for next week..
  15. Hey..Whatever works for you, Partner...I have had no experience with the superformance powders.. Good luck and wear your shooting glasses..
  16. Have fun with your new toy, Jerry... If you reload or plan to reload, give me a holler...I can tell you what works well in my 7MM08..
  17. Holy crap, Chas !! 3500 FPS for a 130 in the .270 Win would be REALLY hot !! Typical muzzle velocities for that bullet in the .270 Win are around 3100.... You sure your chrony is telling you the truth ? If that velocity is correct I would worry about the safety of my load. Early production Barnes bullets had some issues..Many rifles would not group them well and excessive copper fouling was a problem.. Barnes addressed the problems, and modern TSX and TTSX Group as well or better in my rifles as any other bullets and copper fouling has been reduced .. They are a great hunting bullet.
  18. Two inch thick lamb chops basted with olive oil, home grown garlic and chopped rosemary, grilled medium rare, plus oven roasted sweet potato and steamed green beans....Oh yeah...and BEER...
  19. I hunted Texas a few years back...As I remember we put out about 300 rags...The high flying white sky carp would have nothing to do with our set...We killed a specklebelly ( white front) or two but no snows... I've hated the SOBs ever since....<<grin>>... Canadas, on the other hand, will decoy nicely to a couple dozen dekes IF they are in the right place...
  20. Is MRP still available under the Norma label ?
  21. They should have used him for stud service and then stocked his offspring in the East River....
  22. Either 7mm08 or .243 would be an easy resize, only half a millimeter ( 0.020") up or down... Brass for those two chamberings is plentiful.
  23. I think I've seen those things down at the local adult novelty store... " Toys for .....
