  1. Way cool, Rob....In all of my adventures hunting and fishing all over North America, I have never seen a river otter... Lots of sea otters in Alaska, which one of my hunting partners dubbed "backward swimming weasels"..Hehehehe..
  2. I've never seen one here around Dogpatch, but a buddy of mine shot a blonde one a few years back when we were deer hunting down in Potter Co. PA...Another buddy shot a black one while hunting Osceola gobblers in Florida a few years back
  3. I love it too...As long as I have Moog in the blind to load it for me ( plus THROW my deer in the truck)..Hehehehe...
  4. Actually, as far as fins, head shape, mouth, etc. the freshwater drum has many similarities to both red drum (redfish) and black drum... They sure don't resemble the vertical black barred salt water fish called "sheepshead"... I don't know if they are even related...
  5. Carefull.....You know that TF gets a woodie over a sheepie......Hehehehe............
  6. Just as an aside......My first duck stamp cost me $3 and my small game licence cost me $3.25..I still have them....
  7. Six decoys are all you need if they are in the right spot...Good luck, Partner !!....
  8. I certainly am hunting....Going to be pass shooting on a small local river...Mostly woodies, but enough mallards and the occasional black to keep things interesting.....FWIW, this is the same river I did my first duck hunt in 1964....I remember the limit was 3 ducks at the time...I managed to kill two woodies after a bunch of shots and learned that you had to get WAAAY out ahead of them compared to a crow or a grouse, which I had the most experience on.... I was shooting my first repeating shotgun, a Remington 11-48 in 16 gauge with high brass # 5 loads...I had bought it in 1963 for $85 used...
  9. Keep your nose in the wind, and your eyes on the skyline..... You really CAN smell elk if they are upwind of you, even at distances of 100 yds plus...That can make or break a hunt if you are hunting in timber...
  10. Yeah...You'll need a shower by then anyway.....<<grin>>...
  11. Back off Pal !!!..I don't even OWN a camera.......<<grin>>....
  12. Considering the relatively low velocity of that round , I wouldn't hesitate to use it on deer considering it is that accurate ib your rifle...I doubt overexpansion would be an issue..
  13. Hard to find any prettier country......
  14. It's the VOICES.....I can't stand the VOICES......
  15. Need a camp bitch ??....I can cook and butcher meat....You young pups will have to HAUL it though... Good luck.. !! Have fun but be careful..Remember where you ARE when you take out that knife....
  16. It's a bitch getting old....
  17. I had a black lab female, nice family dog but dumb as a box of rocks.. However, she was DEATH on snakes ...It was 10 years after she died that I started seeing a few snakes around the property....She also hated cats...Someone dropped off a bunch one time when we were away , and when we got home there were dead cats scattered all over the yard...Annie, the lab, was sitting on the back porch , happy as a clam...I SWEAR she was smiling...
  18. I remember buying Reese's Cups at the local five and dime for a NICKEL and they were a LOT bigger than the ones you get today... Of course, that was back when men were men, women were women and Christ was a carpenter...
  19. Hmmmm...Interesting....I usually leave the belly/flank meat in the woods with the ribs and neck, but I may have to give it a try...
  20. My maternal grandfather was born in France...My Mom used to let him in the house when he came to visit for the Holidays, but my Dad wasn't too crazy about the idea...
  21. I'm betting they got one in Monterey.......
  22. He must be a pretty cool dude, though...Check out the hat and glasses....
  23. Someone please shoot me if I ever appear in the woods with an abomination like that.... K.I.S.S.........
  24. If it hadn't sunk to the bottom of Seneca Lake somewhere between Watkins Glen and Geneva, I would be using my Rem M700 Mountain Rifle in 7mm08 with a Burris 2X7 and handloads featuring Barnes 120 grain TSX.....
