Ever since I can remember my relatives used real butter and after 73 years I am still here and as I said before Just had a complete blood test and my cholesterol level is just fine, been using unsalted for quite awhile. I just tap the sugar maples for a hobby just a couple gallons for my friends and my self.

Melted butter in the frying pan first for waffles and or pancakes and a little bit on top after cooking with home made maple syrup on top. Yummy. Anybody tapping trees yet ?.

Real butter here blood tests show up OK.

Yep, they are trying to conserve energy this time of the year and they will use them in there travels. I did the same thing with my JD with chains on it and they also followed the trails I made.

Do yourself and friends a favor and trade that pink hat or cap in for a red or bright orange one and wear it going to and from your hunting spot. Too many trigger happy people out there and most during early turkey season.

I make mine a little different then most, I do vegies of choice in a pot with veg. stock by it self and the meat in an elec. crock set on low with cubed tomato or sauce and add spices, I find anything more then 3 to 3-1/2 hours tends to over cook the meat , then I take the meat from the crock pot and mix them with the vegies. and serve. I do not use starch or flower.

We have been doing this and it works.( After we got rid of the fox that we were over run with, that would kill everything the could catch). This is the first year in the 12 that we are hear full time that rabbits have been coming out to eat every night or early morning.
-
We did it for years this way and always filled our bags.

What would you have done different ?.

I wish I knew about them when I bought my property, found out too late after logging. There is a group near me and they do not ask for that large of a donation or fee , I think it depends on the size of the property. They have an hour long talk show near me on the radio once a week and have some pretty good info on keeping wildlife around ect. -
This reminds me of a case where a local and under age boy that was out with his father who was teaching the young fellow how to jack deer and not get caught. And the fathers very good friend was caught a number of times and ticked by the local ECON officer for illegal hunting practices. Some people just do not give a hoot. And most likely never had a hunting lic.

I had a pair of 1200 gram. boots gave them away after the first weekend of hunting on the side of the mountain. As phade said boot covers work , But what realy helps too is to carry 2 pairs of socks with sock liners. And change them when you get to your stand or going to post for some amt. of time. I have a pair of pack boots, rubber bottoms with nylon tops with replaceable liners or booties. They are light and warm.

Good to hear the bucks are still have there head gear. Any snow in the wooded areas ?. One of the few things I miss about L.i. that is deer hunting in Jan. with a light coating of snow on the ground.

Feeding deer is not legal in N.Y. are there any other was to attract a deer to an antler trap ?. Just wondering.

For thoes that have had there property for awhile and did some improvements to keep wildlife on or near there property and Size does no matter here. This might help some that are just starting out. I will start my property no that large but big enough to keep me busy year round as I live here. First I would not have let them cut down as many mature Oak trees as they did when logging.I would have had them open up the heavy wooded areas as 20 feet between mature trees.I would have planted more apple pear trees. And more berry type plants.I have cleared a number of spots and planted grasses and lots of clover which keeps the animals around. And I do have some thick areas with wild blackberries which the animals like to brouse on. As I said size does no mater , the location might. A friend has only 5 acres but is is between farm land, he has done a lot as planting grasses and trees, In the last 2 years he has harvested a nice 6 pointer and a good size doe.
-
FSW , the 2 year old deer in my area are not that big in weight and antler size. They are not fenced in and fed with types of food to produce deer as on your farm. jjb4900 , there are deer in my area that are 3+ years old , I have left one walk for 5 years and it wound up being a nice 10 pointer which I think someone shot last year. And as First-lite said , I also would be happy with a mature doe.
-
I do not think shape makes a difference, I have had them out in the open by them self, behind wood piles and the edge of fields. With deer walk right up to them. I think it is more important to leave them out in an area for some time so the deer get use to them.
-
Not so a friend of mine gave me some he shot this year and it was good farmland deer.
-
For me is is more of a challenge to harvest a mature doe then a buck. And that is what I hunted for this year but one never showed up until the deer hunting season was over, had a few 2 year old does and bucks and younger go past me every day. It seems as if the older does stayed in the heavy stuff during the daylight hours and came out at night while the bucks were running around sniffing for them night and day.

As I mentioned before I use mine for a Back Up for my Swedish Mauser 6.5 x 55 or my Sako Forester in .243 or my Remy. or Wichester and Ruger bolt action.Or if a deer is close enough where I do no need any of the others.
-
Yep my back up rifle always with me if one of the others fail

When 2 of the does had there you this year after 3 weeks or so the would be feeding around the house if I would walk outside the young ones would look up and take off and there mothers would continue eating for awhile and then walk off. A few weeks ago I went to pull the cards from my cams. quite a few deer were bedded near by most got up and walked around while one of the older ones walked up 10 feet from me and stood there while I was changing cards..

My Swede. New 24" bbl and stock and I have all of the orignal parts. First 3 shots , 140 gr. bullet in Lapua cases.at 100 yards.I did this one around 15 years ago , still groups very good.

Another cost cutting way of doing something at the factory. They should have put threaded inserts where the screws go with a head on the opposite side from where the screws go into the stock.
